a history of
innovation
First built in 1981, the original Stumpjumper was thefirst mountain bike that riders could find at their localshop. Pre-Stumpjumper, we were riding dirt fire roadsand smooth trails on our road bikes, but we wanted togo farther and faster and push the limits of what waspossible on dirt. So we created the Stumpjumper. As you can see on the right, we didn’t stop innovatingwith our first version. Nope, we learned a long timeago that if we were to make riding better, we wouldhave to imagine new ways to ride and develop tech-nologies to make that vision possible. A ceaselessdrive to innovate is what makes us Specialized, and it’s what’ll make your next ride better.
FOR OVER 25 YEARS,
we’ve had a passion for riding and innovation.

Back before we ever rode a mountain bike, we wereroad bike fiends, so it only makes sense that the firstbikes and equipment we sold were for the road. Theoriginal Allez, which came in road, track and aShimano Dura-Ace AX equipped 'aero' model, wasdesigned by Tim Neenan—the lead architect of theoriginal Stumpjumper.

Long before we discovered dirt, we had a passionfor pavement.
Just like the original Allez, the SL2 is the state-of-the-artin go-fast hardware. Designed to satisfy the needs of per-formance fanatics like Tour de France Green jersey winnerTom Boonen, the SL2 is the lightest and stiffest framewe’ve ever made and features vertical compliance that isonly second to our revolutionary S-Works Roubaix SL.
