Suicides in Utah jails

Salt Lake County, housing an average inmate population of more than 2,000, had nearly 400 attempted suicides from 2009 to mid-December 2013. Only two were fatal. Weber County had the most suicides nine during that time. A breakdown of annual suicide data shows there were four suicides in both the Davis and Weber county jails last year a remarkable increase.
