After talking to students, we found that many of them have lost their coat while at a bar or party
including us.
People need a convenient way to secure their coats in public places to avoid accidental theft.

Testing Factors
The lock should be able to withstand:
Fastener Failure Locking Cam Failure Button Deformation Particulate Issues Cam Reaction Surface Issues Cable End Deformation
The cam can bear the user abuse of pull on the cable.
To avoid high stress concentration on this part, teeth were removed and a cable end was added.
User Environment
Purpose: Must resist device opening by shaking Force Applied: Spring should maintain bias up to 2G acceleration
Conclusions:
Fatigue life of 105 cycles (safety factor of 1.2) Reduced maximum angular deflection with positive stop
Our garment lock design avoids patent infringement and does not fall under any existing compliance regulations. Novel Aspects: Locking Mechanism, Design
Future Plans
Additional Proof of Concept Testing Prototyping Testing within the User Environment Patent Application Modifications to Locking Placement
