We wish to express our appreciation to many individuals who have contributed tothe revision of the Teacher Performance Assessment Instrument (TPAI). ThreeNorth Carolina Public School Systems -- Gaston, Moore, and MontgomeryCounty -- cooperated in field testing the evaluation system and offered muchneeded critical analyzes of all the procedures. The personnel directors, principals, assistant principals, and experienced teachers of those systems made significantcontributions. Three graduate students, Janet Nichols, LaWanda Williams, andAlicia Springs, were instrumental in collecting data. Judith Misenheimer served asthe expert consultant in the evaluation procedures and coordinated much of thecollection of data. Lynn Bradshaw from East Carolina University is responsiblefor the modification of the indicators on the TPAI. Billy Revels produced thematrix for data sources within each major function. Many thanks to the members of the advisory committee who attended meetingsand provided critical review of the evaluation process.
