WHO WE ARE

Comar is a multi-arts organisation that produces, presents and develops creative work, supporting and connecting artists and audiences across Mull, Iona and beyond. Comar aims to be a leader amongst rural arts organisations, drawing together artists and audiences in meaningful ways that inspire, inform and shape our communities, resonating well beyond our island home. Established in 2013 through the merger of An Tobar and Mull Theatre, Comar, taking its name from the Gaelic word for confluence, builds on the legacy of these two well-regarded organisations to become a confident and ambitious centre for developing innovative cross art form work. 3. JOB BACKGROUND AND OUTLINE In order to support our continued growth and to ensure that the organisation has a strong foundation from which to develop further, Comar is now looking to expand its staff team to incorporate essentials marketing and engagement skills and experience within the organisation. Since Comars establishment in April 2013 we have undertaken a significant organisational review which determined our ideal staffing structure to allow us to operate effectively as a creative hub within Argyll and to enable our full body of work to resonate more throughout the region. As part of that process, we identified the need for a Marketing and Engagement Manager who would be capable of leading forward our long-term marketing strategies and initiatives. There is a definitive need for the successful post-holder to work ambitiously and strategically to raise the profile and awareness of our work; to communicate our values and our vision clearly; to share our artistic programme more widely; to deepen audience and community engagement in our programme of performances and events on Mull and throughout Argyll; and to drive revenue streams across all aspects of our operation. As part of a Get AmbITion project, Comar is also currently reviewing its brand and is currently conducting a review of its visual identity, is in the process of commissioning its new website and will be implementing a new Box Office system (Monad Ticketing) in advance of the spring. The Marketing and Engagement Manager will be central to driving forward and managing these new developments to ensure Comars profile grows and our communication continues to improve, using these key marketing tools as a starting point for developing future strategy.
