Unit: Video Editing & Effective Filming (Week 19, 7 Weeks)

Stage 1: Desired Results

Enduring Understandings By the end of the unit, students will understand how to compose and shoot effective video shots and edit them in a video editing program to create a clear and powerful message to the audience.

What techniques are used to enhance the authenticity of the message? What filming and editing techniques are most appropriate according to the audience and purpose? Stage 2:Assessment Evidence

Assessment Daily Question Informal Assessments At the start of class the teacher will pose review questions to the class which they answer online and their answers are cumulatively available for the teacher to review to check for understanding. The objective in this activity is to give the teacher and the student a written record of cognitive engagement on the part of the student. Quiz Skills Recall Assessment Several times per unit, a short open note quiz will be administered during class. The purpose of the quiz is to assess students on their progress toward mastery of primary skills in each part of the unit. The quiz questions will be taken directly from the material that was taught and reviewed. Dialogue In Class Participation Students interact through answering class discussion questions through voluntary participation. Self Assessment Students write a reflective summary of their works progress each quarter as well as what they would like to do to improve. Students take daily notes in their class notebook on content taught by the teacher in class. Application Project Students work on a quarterly project that challenges the student to apply the content learned in class.
