Clements High School

March 3, 2014 Dear Parent or Guardian, In the coming months, students across Texas will take various assessments within the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) program. Current ninth, tenth, and eleventh graders will take End-of-Course (EOC) assessments in various courses. Testing season is in full swing here at Clements High School and we have a lot going on this Spring! The information below outlines all of the upcoming testing dates, how it impacts your student, and other essential information to consider on these testing days. It is imperative that your student be at school on the day these exams are given. Remember, ALL EOC scores count towards your students graduation requirements and students must make up any missed exams. Please join us in working toward your childs success by making sure that he /she is in school for each of these testing days. Additionally, it is required that your child passes and attends these tests in order to be eligible for exemptions. You may find the exemption policy on Ranger Wire at: http://rangerwire.wordpress.com/

In order to meet testing security requirements, parents will not be allowed to visit classrooms or drop off lunches. Please encourage your child to pay attention in class, to complete all of their assignments, and to attend after school tutorials, especially if it is a teacher recommendation. In addition, please help make sure that your child arrives each testing day on time and having had sufficient rest and a good breakfast in order to be successful. Avoid scheduling doctors appointments on these dates, if possible. STAAR English I & II are a timed 5 hour test! STAAR Algebra, Biology, & US History are a timed 4 hour test! Students are expected to bring a fiction book to read (NO Kindles or E -Readers) at the conclusion of their testing. (Textbooks, non-fiction books, or homework will not be permitted.) Music devices, cell phones, data storage devices, video games, or cameras are NOT permitted. Students in violation will receive no credit on their state assessments and are subject to disciplinary action. Students are not allowed to have a cell phone on their person at any time during state testing. Non-Testing students will report to regular classes. Many classes are relocated for testing, so students need to remember where their classes will meet (see Important Notes below).
