Manually Restoring the Ghost Image

1. Obtain the ptedit.exe utility. If you have a Partition Magic CD, locate the file ptedit.exe on it, or else download an older version from
here). Copy the file to some place you will e ale to run it from when ooted to D!", such as a floppy dis#, CD, or $"% flash drive.

Warning: Do not use c.9at9recover.at. (his is a script file to run recover.exe without user intervention while within the D":
environment. "ince you are not letting D": go through it's normal system pre;chec#s, it is unwise to let recover.exe run without user
intervention.
4. Restore the partition table. 8aunch ptedit again and change the partition;type ytes to their regular values +D<, )=, and D%) and

Saving a 'opy of the Ghost Image
!nce you discover how to manually gain access to the @host image, you may reali-e how easy it is to save a copy of the @host image onto a
DAD. ,ote this procedure re>uires a DAD urner, as the files are too large to fit on CD.
1. Obtain the ptedit32.exe utility. 6lthough you can use ptedit, there's no need to oot to D!", so it's easier to instead use ptedit's /&;it
cousin, ptedit/&. If you have a Partition Magic CD, locate the file ptedit/&.exe on it, or else download an odler version from here.
&. Expose the restore partition. 5rom BP, launch ptedit/&.exe and use it to change the '(ype' code of the third partition from 'D%' to
')C'. +,ote. you will not e reooting into D!", so do not change the active partition.) BP will now recogni-e this as an ordinary
56(/& partition, so reboot and BP should give the new partition a drive letter. 2ith a drive letter, you can easily access the files on
the partition.
/. Copy the Ghost image. Copy the following files from the restore partition to DAD.
in9mouse.exe, in9recover.exe, img9fi.gho, and any img9fi)))))C.ghs files.
7. Rehide the restore partition. 8aunch ptedit/& again and change the '(ype' code from ')C' ac# to 'D%'. :eoot and the restore
partition should e hidden again.
If you should ever need to restore from this DAD, you would oot from a D!" oot dis# that includes CD support +such as an ordinary 2in3*
oot floppy), switch to the CDDDAD drive letter, load the mouse driver, then launch recover.exe. 5rom here you would manually guide
recover.exe through the process of restoring the fi.gho image, Eust li#e @host &))/.
Note: recover.exe expects the destination partition to exist already, so use your favorite method to create a partition efore restoring the
contents into it from the image. Partition si-e is not critical, as long as it is large enough to contain the contents of the image.
