Using Joomla! Newsflash To Display Random Text!
The Newsflash module is a extremely handy feature. It allows you to add things suchas Jokes, Quotes, or Testimonials to your web page. The text can be chosen at random, andaligned in any way you want. And it can be done in four easy steps. We are already assumingyou have a working copy of Joomla! Installed, that you have administrative access, and areusing the default milky way template.
Step 1: Creating a Category
1.From the friendly administrative panel, go tho themenu select content and click on category manager.2.At the category manager page select “New” from themanager panel.3.From there you will come up with a editor page. For this tutorial we will be creating a Joke Newsflashusing jokes found on Wikipedia. So I have named the category “Funniest JokeNewsflash” and added the description of what the newsflash does. For the section I just used the default for my pages. You can use the default or create a new one it isyour choice.4.Select Save from the menu and you are done!

Step 2: Creating Articles
1.From the category manager got the the top menu under content select “Article Manager”2.At the article manager go to the article menu and select“New”.3.Now you should be seeing a article editor that is blank. Thefirst thing I did was change my section to my defaultsection whatever that is for you.4.After that I used the drop down menu under thecategory option to select the category we made“Funniest Joke Newsflash”.5.Then in the “Parameters-Advanced” column Ichanged the show title option to “no” This was sothat theNewsflash will not show the Joke title.6.I then added The Jokes from Wikipedia.7.After adding the Joke click save and repeat for eachof the three Jokes.

Joke 1:The Hunter JokeTwo hunters are out in the woods when one of them collapses. He doesn't seem tobe breathing and his eyes are glazed. The other guy whips out his phone and callsthe emergency services. He gasps, "My friend is dead! What can I do?". Theoperator says "Calm down. I can help. First, let's make sure he's dead." There is asilence, then a shot is heard. Back on the phone, the guy says "OK, now what?"

Joke 2: The Sherlock Holmes JokeSherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson go on a camping trip. After a good dinner, theyretire for the night, and go to sleep.Some hours later, Holmes wakes up and nudges his faithful friend. "Watson, look upat the sky and tell me what you see."

Joke 3: The Woman and the Doctor JokeA woman rushed to see her doctor, looking very much worried and all strung out.She rattles off: "Doctor, take a look at me. When I woke up this morning, I looked atmyself in the mirror and saw my hair all wiry and frazzled up, my skin was allwrinkled and pasty, my eyes were bloodshot and bugging out, and I had thiscorpse-like look on my face! What's WRONG with me, Doctor!?"The doctor looks her over for a couple of minutes, then calmly says: "Well, I can tellyou that there ain't nothing wrong with your eyesight."
Step 3: Creating a Newsflash module
1.From the article manager go to the main menu, selectextensions, and choose “module manager”.2.Now from here there are two things that can happen. If youinstalled the sample content or inherited a site fromsomeone else, then search through the module manager for a module with the type of “mod_newsflash”. You mightneed to go to the next page to find it, then choose it andselect edit from the module manager page and skip to step _. If you did a fresh install
