METRO NORTH LAND USE PRIORITY PLAN

The Metro North Land Use Priority Plan seeks to identify appropriate locations for
additional housing and job growth, as well as open space opportunities in East
Boston, Charlestown, Chelsea, Everett, Malden, Medford, Melrose, Revere, Somerville
and Winthrop. After working with each communitys staff to identify key locations that
could meet these needs, MAPC compiled a list of Regionally-Significant priority areas.
Now, state agencies (including the Executive Offices of Housing and Economic
Development, Energy and Environmental Affairs, and MassDOT) are in the process of
determining which sites will make the list of state Priority Development Areas and
Preservation Areas. State agency staff will announce the draft state priority areas and
review the screening process at a public meeting on July 31
st
from 5-7PM

Join the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development, Executive Office of
Energy and Environmental Affairs, MassDOT, and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council
for a presentation and discussion about:
Local, Regional and State Priority Preservation Areas and Development Areas
Regionally Significant Infrastructure Improvements
Innovative ways to preserve/create open space and recreation
Challenges to Growth in these Communities
