Minimum MTU of 1280 bytes
User Datagram Protocol (UDP)
Although the UDP protocol remains the same in IPv6, the Checksum field is mandatory
in IPv6.
Fragmentation
IPv6 routers do not fragment packets unless the router is the source of the packet.
Link Local Address
used to communicate on a link. Routers use these address to send routing updates
NAT eliminated
Consideration to real time
To implement better support for real-time traffic (such as videoconference), IPv6
includes a flow label mechanism
Auto Configuration

Dual-stack:
Dual-stack allows IPv4 and IPv6 devices to coexist on the same network. A
dual-stack device can be a host, a server, or a router configured to run both
IPv4 and IPv6 stacks simultaneously.
Tunneling:
Tunneling is a method of transporting IPv6 packets over IPv4-only networks.
Tunneling is accomplished by encapsulating the IPv6 packet inside IPv4.
Translation:
Network Address Translation 64 (NAT64) allows IPv6-only devices to
communicate with IPv4-only devices using a translation technique similar to
NAT used in IPv4
