Appearance
The girl known as Nue stands moderately tall, politely and straight without taking any specific attention not
needed for her to take, and ready to salute. Her expression switches between seriously frowning and
honestly smiling, but never without staying proper. Her blue hair is drawn behind her in a simple bun, but
from the sides of said bun two small twin-tails hang down as if she couldn't get a hold of all her hair,
hanging behind her. She needs glasses, and wears a pair of sleek black glasses with a string around her
neck to prevent them from falling off her in the midst of battle.

As for her clothing, she should be wearing what appears to be a regular blue uniform of some kind. Long
sleeves, some golden-looking buttons binding the suit together by the middle. Her emblem should be visible
in black on the right side of her uniform. However, by no apparent reason it stops short to expose her
midriff. Underneath that, she is wearing long dark-blue pants that sit tightly around her legs, with lines going
all the way down to her rather standard black out-doors shoes. She should wear a large bag which hangs in
a belt going around her pants and sitting comfortably on her bottom. On the side of said bag a horn, one of
those you blow through to make sound, is placed for some reason. On the back of her uniform, there are
two hanging straps of light-blue cloth, in which she hangs her weapon when she isn't wielding it. She is not
even the slightest inconvenienced by this attire.

Personality
If you just stop her and speak to her, Nue will appear to be a rather regular girl. She's somewhat polite,
slightly cautious in the way she words things and quite ready to smile for the pleasure of the ones she's
speaking with. She's not very shy, it is for other reasons that she'll rarely engage in conversation with other
people herself, but when she is in a conversation Nue has no problem handling herself. She can often get
the role of the straight person next to her rather silly partner, Viridis, and a fair amount of sarcasm can exit
her mouth when things turn really silly. But no matter how silly it gets, Nue will always be there, focused and
sensible, not about to give in to the idiocy of the world. She's also the last person who would panic in a case
of emergency and is more than confident in her professional attitude towards destroying the next opponent
she and her team might be confronted with.

However, it should be noted, not everything is entirely right in her mind. Nue's head is the head of a
Rencevaux, and they work a little bit differently from the rest of us. For the first thing, death isn't something
to be sad about. It is the end of a life, if it was wasted then too bad, if it was used to save others than it was
a good death to be happy about. Secondly, morals have no meaning. You can't kill because it is against the
rules, not because it is immoral to do so. Nue will act to stop injustice when she can, but only because it is
just that, injustice. She will fight Grimm because it is said she will in the rules of her family. And she will
follow any command given to her by a superior officer, simply because it was given. ... As long as nobody
can prove said officer is dirty, in which case she'll blow him up.

And baring her midriff isn't shameful at all, she just finds the wind comfortable. Aura is what protects us
anyway, armor isn't necessary. Neither is taking way too much ice-cream shameful, that's just delicious.
Nothing embarrassing or morally wrong about that at all. In fact, Nue finds those people that find her weird
to be weird. They think her way of life is strange? She will find them inferior, and not spend another minute
thinking about it. Yes, Nue believes herself to be superior to everyone else in the world due to them not
following her way of thinking, she's just too polite to let this information out publically. She'd simply live her
life as it was, and not worry about it. She would die soon anyway, sacrificing her life to protect others. That
is what the Rencevaux family did, after all. Why would she bother worrying about what others thought of her
when she has such a worthy fate waiting for her?

It should however be noted, she does know the supposed rules of friendship. If her friend is in trouble, Nue
is well capable of suddenly appearing and defending. She's rather witty with her mouth, and quite likely to
deliver sudden one-liners and puns with little to no reason. She seems to appreciate her own little jokes a
lot more than others do. Nue also feels that it is part of her job to tell people how to do things when they
obviously don't know how to do it themselves, accuracy of the last statement may vary. She'd probably
make an excellent secretary. She's even got the glasses. And that is about that.

Weapons and Abilities
Nue's ranged weapon is a portable mortar called the Fier Paladin. It is a long and rather large tube which
can fire considerable projectiles with impressive range and blast radius. This is a long-range combat
weapon, as long as Nue knows the location she should be firing at, she can shoot the better part of a
kilometer and maybe even a bit further using her mortar complete with all the technology a dust-filled world
can provide. She does place the mortar on a piece of support usually, but by all means, she CAN fire it by
holding it on her shoulder to destroy closer targets, partly due to her semblance. The ammunition which she
loads into the mortar ranges from different kinds of dust-explosions. Fire ones create a considerable fiery
explosion. Ice ones create an area of freezing cold solid ice to get enemies stuck or slow them in their
tracks. Lightning does just that, a large electrical discharge. Wind causes a significant physical force to push
things more than they'd like, well capable of tearing things apart. Nue's long-range mortar has ammunition
that is more inaccurate and more powerful than what people usually drag around on the battlefield, and
used right it can cause devastation among enemies. It takes roughly three to five seconds for Nue to reload
and fire again. Ammunition is in the large bag over her bottom.

Even in close combat, Nue's battle-style seem to prefer keeping the enemy at a distance. Bound to the
mortar are two spiked balls bound to the mortar via two chains, one on each side. When the enemy
approaches, Nue can load her mortar with these spike-balls instead of her usual rounds. When fired, these
will either smash into something or get restrained by the several-meter chain, the force of the pull as well as
the length of the chain quite possibly abuse-able for several purposes in battle, the spikes well capable of
latching onto things. When the enemy gets way too close Nue can split her mortar tube into two and grab a
hold of two extending poles from the sides, wielding the two mortar-parts as tonfas against impending
enemies. That is why there are two balls with chains. Each of the tonfa-parts can still fire on their own, and
Nue just needs to drop ammunition or a spike-ball into the barrel located at the bottom of the longer end of
the tonfa (the part typically placed at the elbow) to make the ammo lock into place and be ready to be fired
in the face of an enemy. In battle, this practically means she is wielding tonfas with added flail-chain onto it.

Nue's semblance is the Semblance of Stability. This means that she may disregard the rules of gravity and
place herself exactly as she wish and remain stable regardless. Using this semblance she can remain
immobile standing on a wall, for example. This is what has chosen her weapon of choice, as she figured
that with the weight and pressure of a powerful weapon the promise of absolute stability meant that she
would be able to fire her mortar from any kind of position with little worry about the surroundings. She can
stand firing the most powerful weapon in existence and remain standing in the face of stability. It also
means she can do useless things like balancing on top of a pencil or stapling an infinite amount of cards on
top of one another and never ever lose a game of Tumbling Towers/Jenga. It essentially means what she
uses the power on will remain steady no matter what happens to it. Matter can still break, though.

Nue is efficient and disciplined, and impossible to exhaust. She sets up a perfect schedule for herself, and
others should she need to, for how to perfectly complete the tasks of the day and can follow it to the dot
without incident, assuming she is alone and not disturbed or dragged away by others. Having studied the
living daylight out of everything in society with her inexhaustible discipline (What? All huntresses should
know these things, why not learn it sooner rather than later?) and can therefore appear quite
knowledgeable about a great variety of things. She's also really good at adapting, for Nue sees it as
completely natural, and it might even be counted as an ability that negative events do not shake her the
slightest and she can still act just as normal.

Strengths
Nue is extremely destructive on a long range. Fier Paladin can do damage which the other members of the
team are simply unable to from a distance with considerable accuracy. She knows the book by heart and
soul and will follow every single rule of combat, and that often means that she will survive and become a
more deadly opponent. A peerless team member, she will follow any command she is given with perhaps
only a sarcastic comment and will complete the order quickly and efficiently. Her brain seems to run on a
separate power-source, for she never seem to tire or let laziness overtake her discipline, and trying to find
faults with her impeccable style is difficult. That said...

Weaknesses
Tonfas REALLY aren't the best close combat weapons against the Creatures of Grimm. As a long-range
fighter, Nue is completely dependent on her team-members to keep the enemy away from her. If
intercepted into a close-combat battle, Nue will fight efficiently and proudly, but it isn't where she shines. As
well, there are a fair amount of rumors surrounding Nue, about death following her and so, making it more
likely she and anyone she's around to be avoided. Her tirelessness may drive the dislike of others, and due
to Nue's not understanding morals she might not even understand that she's being disliked and simply
continue. ... Oh, and she might just leave you to die without a second effort because that's by the book.

Backstory
It was a particular situation, where Nue had joined with a group of other fighters against the creatures of
Grimm, including her mother. They were protecting their home-village against a particularly nasty group.
Nue did as her job-description told, and stood behind with her mortar raining down projectiles on the
enemies, but as soon as the enemy came close she swung around her large weapon and joined into the
close combat. However, something happened during the battle. A large Ursa was about to break through
the lines and destroy large parts of the village. Many would have died. But, Nue's mother met the beast
head-on and managed to destroy it, but unfortunately an explosion of dust took place in her face and she
died. It was a moment of great sadness for the village, but... The woman's daughter, Nue, asked "Why are
you all sad? My mother died to save your lives. It was how she wanted to die. How come you are not
happy?". This without a single hint of being sad at that the only living family she had just died.

Nue has a very peculiar situation in her life. It is rather sad, really. However, also completely sensible,
according to Nue. You see, Nue doesn't have any family. Or, well, she did. They were all hunters and
huntresses, every last one. fighters, protectors of those who cannot protect themselves. And it also so
happen that every single one of them did not survive their time of service. The blue-haired young girl Nue
was introduced to death as if it was a common thing, and that it should not be feared, for it is natural. It was
a concept alien to all others in the village, except for this family. Nue thought it completely natural to collect
the inherited title of the Rencevaux family and go to combat school and prepare to die herself. She was a
Rencevaux, after all, it is natural for her to sacrifice herself like the rest of the family, even if she was the last
one. However, everyone else... from the day that Nue's mother died, it became harder for Nue to live.
Everyone seemed to fear her. She didn't understand. For to her, it was natural. In fact, she scoffed at the
fools who did not appreciate the honor of those who'd give their lives to save them. Fine. She could do well
on her own, Nue thought.

This didn't change in combat school. Rumors spread around her. That she was Nue, last member of the
Rencevaux family, and that the family was cursed with death. What was even stranger, was that they did
not seem to mind the curse. As such, people feared her as strange, that partnering with her would mean
their deaths because Nue wouldn't hesitate to kill them if the situation required it, and the fact that they
simply couldn't understand her actions. The blue-haired girl was fine with this. They didn't need to respect
the one who would die to save their lives. Nue was fine being a loner. She would eventually be assorted to
a team, and then she would do her best to support that team. They didn't need to be her friends. They didn't
need to smile at her. They didn't need to do anything but be good at fighting and-

Wild Viridis Appeared! ... An odd green-haired girl that didn't seem to be even the slightest affected by the
rumors. If Nue was strange, then Viridis was just plain odd. She spoke to Nue, and was more than happy to
be her friend. Nue, who actually didn't really mind to be anyone's friend, just raised her eyebrow and
accepted. Then, throughout their life at the combat school, the two friends would help each other out. Nue,
being quite superior in combat, helped Viridis out to become a capable fighter worthy of the front lines.
Viridis, in exchange, helped Nue overcome the rumors and contact the people around her, and make quite
a number of more friends. Despite what the rest might have thought, Nue greatly appreciated what Viridis
had done for her, and was very happy when it proved that they had both succeeded in entering Beacon.
Viridis would not have passed the combat part without Nue, and Nue would have had problems later if it
wasn't for Viridis. It simply worked.

That the rumors were correct and Nue wouldn't lift a finger to save Viridis if she believed that sacrificing her
would result in saving people? That's another matter altogether.

Trivia
Nue completes criteria 4 by using the same sound as the color, blue. Nue otherwise means
"Tender".
Following the theme of being based on legendary characters who died, Rencevaux is the site
where Roland fought his last stand and eventually fell to repel the attackers in the Song of Roland.
Fier Paladin means Proud Paladin, and is a little twist since it also sounds a bit like "Fire Paladin",
and the mortar called Fier Paladin shoots projectiles. I found it amusing.
