THEOREMS
ON
CIRCLES
PRINCIPAL

PRESENTED BY
APARNA GURU
XI PCM GROUP
ACTIVITY-I
VISUALIZATION OF THEOREMS ON CIRCLE.
OBJECTIVE :-
To Verity that equal chords of a circle subtend equal
angles at the centre..
MATERIAL :-
A Pair of Scissors , gum , compass, pencil , ruler ,
protector.
PRE-REQUISTIE KNOWLEDGE
Meaning of subtended angle by chord.
PROCEDURE :-
1. Dra a circle of any radius ith centre !.
". Ta#e $ points A, % and D on circle &oin A' , AD such that
A%(AD.
$. &oin A! , %! , D!.
). Arc %* Subtends +%!* at the centre ! of the circle.
,. Ta#e a point A on the remaining part of the circle.
-. &oin A%
.. Arc %* Subtends +%A* at the point A on the remaining
part of the *ircle.
OBSERVATIONS:-
+%!* ( ". +%A*
LEARNING OUTCOME :-
Students become more familiar ith the theorem through
an acti/ity.
REMARKS :-
1.. The Teacher should point out the acti/ity only /erifies the
theorem and is not a proof of the theorem.
ACTIVITY-II
VISUALIZATION OF THEOREMS ON CIRCLES
OBJECTIVE -
To verify that angle subtended by arc at the centre is twice the
angle subtended by it at any remaining part of the circle
MATERIALS REQUIRED :-
A pair of scissors! gum! compass! pencil! ruler!
protector
PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE
Meaning of subtended angle by an arc
PROCEDURE:-
" #raw a circle of any radius with centre $
% Ta&e % points ' and ( on the circle to obtain arc '(
) *oin ' to $ and ( to A
+ (hord A' subtend ,A$' and chord A# subtend ,A$# at
centre
OBSERVATION :-
,A$' - ,A$#
LEARNING OUT COME :-
" The Teacher may as# the students to perform the acti/ity for the
cases arc %* is a ma0or arc or a semicircular arc
". The teacher should point out the acti/ity only /erifies the
theorem and is not a proof of theorem.
ACTIVITY-III
VISUALIZATION OF THEOREMS ON CIRCLE.
OBJECTIVE:-
To /erify that angles in the same segment of a circle
are equal.
MATERIALS REQUIRED :-
A pair of scissors ! gum ! compass ! pencil ! ruler !
protector
PRE REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE :-
Meaning of subtended angle by segment.
PROCEDURE :-
" #raw a circle of any radius with centre $
% Ta&e two points ' and ( on the circle
) Ta&e other points A and # on remaining part of circle
+ *oin 'A ! '# ! (A and (#!
. Segment '( subtends ,'A( and ,'#( on the circle
OBSERVATION :-
,'A# - ,'#(
LEARNING OUTCOME
The teacher should point out the acti/ity only /erifies the
theorem and is not a proof of theorem.
REMARKS
" The Teacher should point out the activity only verifies the
theorem and is not a proof of the theorem
ACTIVITY- IV
VISUALIZATION OF THEOREMS ON CIRCLE.
OBJECTIVE :-
To verify that angle in a semicircle is right angle
MATERIAL REQUIRED :-
A pair of scissors ! gum ! compass ! pencil ! ruler !
protector
PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE :-
Meaning of subtended angle by semicircle /diameter0
PROCEDURE :-
" #raw a circle of any radius with centre $
% Ta&e % points ' and E on circle such that '$E is a straight
line
) Ta&e a point f on remaining part of (ircle
+ *oin '1 and E1
. #iameter /semicircle0 'E subtends ,'1E on circle
OBSERVATION :-
,'1E - 23
3

LEARNING OUTCOME :-
Student become more familiar with the theorem
through an activity
REMARK :-
" Teacher should point out the activity only verifies the theorem
and is not a proof of theorem
ACTIVITY V
VISUALIZATION OF THEOREMS ON CIRCLE.
OBJECTIVE :-
To 4erify that sum of either pair of opposite angles of
a cyclic 5uadrilateral is "63
3

MATERIAL REQUIRED
A pair of scissors ! gum ! compass ! pencil ! ruler !
protector
PRE-REQUISITE KNOWLEDGE :-
Meaning of cyclic 5uadrilateral
PROCEDURE :-
" Ta&e + points A ! '! ( and # on circle
% *oin A'! '( ! (# and #A
) Angles subtended of a cyclic 5uadrilateral are ,'A# ! ,#(' !
,A'( and ,A#(
OBSERVATION :-
,'A# 7 ,#(' - "63
3
,A'(7 ,A#( - "63
3
LEARNING OUTCOME :-
Student become more familiar ith the theorem through an
acti/ity.
REMARKS :-
Teacher should point out the activity only verifies the
theorem and is not a proof of theorem
