MLA Writing Format

• The page margin is one inch all around the paper, indented by
half an inch.

• The font used on an MLA format paper/essay should be like


something that is easy to read (looks like it would be in a book).

• The font size should be a normal 12-point font.

• The page spacing should be as follows: one inch all around the
paper (from the text), indented by half an inch at the beginning
of each paragraph, and the lines should be double spaced.

• The page numbers should be placed in the upper right hand


corner once you reach the second page (last name should be
placed with the number).

• On the first page, your name should be on the left side of the
page, the facilitator’s name underneath your name, then the
subject, and lastly the date.

• The essay title should be placed in the middle of the page (not
in bold, underlined, or italicized) and should be in 12-point
font.

• The paragraph spacing should be double spaced, like the lines


in the paragraphs are. The only indicator of a new paragraph
is the indenting of the first sentence.
