Anda yang terbiasa bekerja di komputer dengan
cepat, tentu sangat membutuhkan shortcut key pada
aplikasi Windows, karena dengan shortcut kita dapat
memproses suatu perintah tanpa menggunakan
mouse, kegunaan shortcut selain untuk mempercepat
proses, juga untuk kondisi darurat dimana mouse
sedang error atau program yang hang, dan
sebagainya.
Berikut shortcut yang umum digunakan di
Windows XP dan Vista
Tombol Windows + E
Tombol shortcut ini berfungsi untuk membuka
Windows Explorer secara cepat.
Tombol Windows + M
Tombol shortcut ini berfungsi saat anda sedang
bekerja dan membuka banyak window, maka dengan
meng-klik shortcut tersebut, semua window yang
terbuka akan berubah menjadi posisi minimize, dan
menampilkan desktop komputer saja, untuk
mengembalikan window ke posisi semula, tekan
tombol Windows + Shift + M. Fungsi serupa dapat
dilakukan dengan tombol Windows + D dan tekan
tombol yang sama untuk mengembalikan tampilan
windows.
Alt+Tab
Dengan shortcut ini, apabila anda membuka banyak
window, maka anda dapat dengan mudah berpindah
dari satu window ke window yang lain. Misalnya
anda sedang membuka program office dan program
outlook express, maka dengan tekan alt+tab anda
dapat berpindah ke program office atau outlook
express dengan cepat tanpa perlu klik dengan
mouse.Alt+F4
Shortcut ini adalah cara cepat untuk menututp
sebuah program yang sedang aktif. Alt + Spacebar
+ C (menggunakan alternatif, lebih dekat jarak antar
keyboard tetapi menggunakan lebih banyak tombol
keyboard). Ctrl + W juga dapat digunakan untuk
menutup aplikasi, tanpa perlu menggunakan mouse
untuk meng-klik tanda X pada sudut kanan atas.
Ctrl + tombol panah
Di Microsoft Word, tombol panah kiri dan kanan
digunakan untuk memindahkan kursor ke awal atau
akhir kata. Panah atas dan bawah juga juga
melakukan hal yang sama dalam paragraf. Ini sangat
bermanfaat untuk melakukan editing sebuah
dokumen dengan lebih cepat.Shift+Delete
Apabila ingin menghapus sebuah file (delete file),
dan anda tidak ingin menaruhnya dalam keranjang
sampah (recycle bin), gunakan shortcut ini, maka file
anda akan terhapus secara permanen, dan tidak dapat
di-restore.Tahan tombol Shift saat memasukkan
CD
Rata-rata CD installer terdapat autorun proses,
sehigga CD akan secara otomatis dijalankan pada
saat dimasukkan dalam CD/DVD ROM. Tetapi
dengan menggunakan shortcut ini anda dapat
mencegah proses autorun berjalan, sehingga CD
yang masuk ke dalam CD/DVD ROM tidak otomatis
aktif, dan anda dapat mengakses file-file CD melalui
Windows Explorer.Ctrl + Drag
Ada banyak cara untuk mengkopi sebuah file, tetapi
ini mungkin cara yang paling mudah. Anda cukup
meng-klik pada sebuah file, tahan dan seret ke lokasi
yang diinginkan. Proses ini sama dengan shortcut
yang paling umum digunakan yaitu Ctrl + CTombol
Windows + U + U
Menjalankan shut down Windows dengan
menggunakan tombol windows, tekan tombol
windows untuk mengaktifkan tombol start pada
desktop, kemudian tombol U untuk membuka shut
down menu, dan tombol U lagi untuk memproses
shut down.Tombol Windows + Pause
Ingin cara cepat membukan System Properties
menu? cukup gunakan shortcut ini.
Ctrl + Z, Ctrl + Y
Pada aplikasi program (Windows atau MS Word),
membatalkan langkah terakhir dengan tombol Ctrl +
Z, dan apabila anda berubah pikiran, gunakan Ctrl +
Y untuk mengembalikan ke langkah terakhir
Shift +  tombol panah
Dengan menekan dan menahan tombol Shift
