Printing
Procedures

Sheets:


1. Raise
enlarger
and
focus
lens
so
that
the
area
of
light
being
projected
is
large

enough
to
cover
your
8x10
paper.

2. With
enlarger
off,
place
your
negatives
and
test
strip
(or
paper)
under
glass.

3. Close
the
lens
down
3
stops
and
make
a
test
strip
with
3‐second
intervals.

4. Process
the
strip
according
to
instructions
below.

5. Under
room
light,
look
for
the
area
on
the
test
strip
where
the
film’s
sprocket

holes
start
to
disappear.

This
is
your
correct
exposure.

6. Make
your
contact
sheet
and
process
according
to
instructions
below.


For
Making
Prints:


1. Insert
negative
into
negative
carrier
and
spray
with
can
of
air.

Insert
carrier
into

enlarger.

2. Turn
on
enlarger
and
raise
or
lower
enlarger
head
to
appropriate
height.
Adjust

easel
as
needed.

3. Insert
contrast
filter
–
2
1/2
is
considered
“normal”
and
is
a
good
place
to
start.

4. Focus
image
using
grain
focuser.

5. Stop
down
2
stops.

6. Make
a
test
strip
in
3‐second
intervals
across
the
subject
area
of
the
print.

7. Process
test
strip
according
to
instructions
below.

8. View
under
room
light
to
determine
proper
exposure
and
contrast.

9. Make
your
print
according
to
time
determined
by
test
strip,
burning
and/or

dodging
as
needed.

10. Process
your
print
according
to
instructions
below.


Processing
Instructions:


1. Developer:
2
minutes
with
constant
agitation
for
first
minute.

2. Stop
Bath:
30
seconds
with
constant
agitation.

3. Fixer:
3
minutes
with
constant
agitation
for
first
30
seconds.
(30
seconds
for

test
strips
is
adequate.)

4. Fixer
Remover:
3
minutes

5. Wash:
10
minutes
in
print
washer

OPEN
YOUR
PAPER
IN
THE
DARKROOM
WITH
THE
ORANGE
SAFE‐LIGHTS
ON!!!!
