Second Cup
Favor
Read Proverbs 3:1-4
What is a side-effect of remembering and obeying God’s word (verse 2)?
What are you supposed to bind around your neck in verse 3? Does that seem like a heavy burden or a beautiful
adornment?
What will happen after you do this (verse 4)?
Do you have favor with God? With your husband? With your neighbors? With your coworkers? At your church?
How can you apply love and faithfulness in relationships where you desire more favor?

Stones of Man
Has an enemy placed any obstacles in your way?
Did this happen when you thought everything was going in your favor? Were you surprised?
What was sifted from your life during this attack?
Do you feel stronger as you persevere through it?

Peter, the Rock

Read the story of Peter’s denial of Christ in any of the gospels
 Matthew 26:31-35, 69-75
 Mark 14:27-31, 66-72
 Luke 22:31-34, 54-62
 John 13:31-38, 18:15-18, 25-27
Have you ever insisted emphatically that you would never fall away?
Have you ever denied Christ? Even just a little? Just for one party, one episode, one argument?
Peter denied Christ three times, and Christ reinstated Peter three times. Read this in John 21:15-19.
Now read what Peter wrote in 1 Peter 1:6-7. What is the purpose of trials? What is the end result?
Do you think Peter was successfully sifted? Have you ever been sifted?

Stones of Mine
Have you ever steadfastly refused to listen to the Lord, like I did?
Do you have any stony ground, an area where you God is trying to put down deep roots but you can't endure His
lesson?
Don’t you just love Martha? How many times have we said the same thing: “But, Lord…!” Is there anything God is
asking you to do that is going to cause a big stink?

Stones of God
Isn't it ironic that Peter, who rejected Christ three times, wrote about Living Stone, rejected by men but chosen by
God and precious to Him. How has God radically changed your perspective as He’s built you into a spiritual
house?
Is a Stone of God blocking your path? Are you looking up, looking around or looking in?

Memorial Stones
Read Joshua 3-4
Where is your Jordan? Are your feet wet yet?
What will you tell your children about your stone? How will this time be remembered?
