“What Are Demons?”
Demon- evil angels who sinned against God and who now
continually work evil in the world.
Origin of Demons
Where did demons come from when Gen 1 says “all is very good?”
Seems like a pretty big deal, does Bible speak of this “Angel Exodus?
What would cause God to kick out evil angels (whom He jused created)
Time Frame- Some time between Gen 1:31 & Gen 3:1-5
Angel Exodus- 2 Pt 2:4 and Jude 6
Reason- Pride, refused to accept their assigned place “didn't keep their own
position but left their proper dwelling,,,Jude 6”
Demonic Activity
Opposition to the Gospel-Demons use lies (Jn 8:44), deception (Rv 12:9),
murder ((Jn 8:44) & other destructive activities to cause ppl to
turn from God, (temptation, fear, guilt, doubt, envy, pride etc etc)
Demons Are Limited in Their Power- Satan can only do what God gives
him permission to dp & NOTHING more. (Job 1:12; 2:6). Demons
kept in “eternal chains” (Jd 6)…Can be beasted by Christians thru
power of the cross (Jms 4:7). Do not have power that they used
to have as angels for sin weakens & destroys not empowers.
Our Relationship w/ Demons
Are Demons Active in World Today? Many believe only what 5 senses
tell them…Others say evil structures in the world (government,
corporations) that control 1000s of ppl are said to be demonic…
Scripture demonstrates otherwise
Can We Attribute all Evil to Demons? Paul tells Corinthians to “STOP
SINNING & LIVE RIGHTEOUS LIVES” not blame demons &
cast them out
Can a Christian be Demon Possessed?
YES & NO…Depends on what you mean
How can I recognize demonic influence?
Opposition to preaching of gospel…Mk 1:23-24
Violent Actions Seeking to Hurt the Person…Mk 9:12-22
Destruction of Creation (Image of God)…Mk 5:13
