The Numbers of the Words

Psalm 63 and the Life of a Prophet

a The Hebrew word for “prophet” is “nä -VEE” ( aybn ), and its misparim value equals 63.
This number for this word is obtained from the numbers of the Hebrew letters which compose
the word navee:
← ← ←
63 = (1) a + (10) y + (2) b + (50) n = aybn = navee = prophet
So we believe it is far beyond coincidental that the 63rd Tehillah (Psalm 63) reveals the work
of the Spirit in the life of a prophet. And since eswhy the Messiah called His followers
prophets,1 the work of hwhy in the lives of the prophets is not only awe-inspiring, it is also
very instructive—being filled with significant spiritual edification for all Messianic believers
in these Last Days. In the present study, we will clearly see how the subject matter of Psalm
63 reflects the work of hwhy in the lives of the Hebrew prophets of old. We give all honor
and praise to hwhy for His amazing, inspired Word as His Spirit reveals these most significant
issues over the lives of the prophets through the subject matter seen in the Sixty-Third Psalm.
Tehillah 63
A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Yahudah.2
1 Elohim, You are my Elohim; early3 will I seek You. My soul thirsts for You,
my flesh longs for You, in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water,
2 to see Your power and Your splendor, so as I have seen You in the Set Apart Place.
3 Because Your chesed/lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You.
4 Thus will I bless You while I live: I will lift up my hands in Your Name.
5 My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise
You with joyful lips, 6 when I remember You upon my bed, and meditate on You in
the night watches.
7 Because You have been my help, therefore, in the shadow of Your wings I will
rejoice.
8 My soul follows hard after You: Your right hand upholds me.
9 But those that seek my soul, to destroy it, shall go into the lower parts of the earth.
10 They will fall by the sword: They shall be a portion for foxes.
11 But the king shall rejoice in Elohim; every one that swears by Him shall exult: but
the mouth of those who speak lies shall be stopped.

The Hebrew word translated “early” connotes “early, often, and diligently.” It is only when we keep asking, keep
seeking, and keep knocking (Matthew 7:7-8) that we find hwhy: This requires the one seeking to be wholehearted in the
effort and in the sincerity. Jeremiah 29:13, 2Chronicles 31:20-21, Deuteronomy 4:29, 30:6-10, 1Samuel 12:24, 1Kings

We note, first of all, Psalm 63 is a song of David. Not only was David a king of Yisrael,5
he also numbers among the prophets.6 Additional evidence shows that prophets who
overcome will also be partakers in a Kingdom of priests: They will be kings over the nations
in the Messianic Age.7 And David himself will be just such a king!8 More will be written on
this topic later in the article. For the purpose of this study, each line of the psalm is provided,
in sequence, to show how the lives of the prophets are so accurately described by the thoughts
conveyed in Tehillah 63. We will see many striking similarities and parallels between what is
written in Psalm 63 and what other Scriptures reveal about true prophets, their relationship
with hwhy, His relationship with them, and their ministry-service to Yisrael and the nations.

1 Elohim, You are my Elohim; early will I seek You.

Seeking hwhy Early
Tehillah 63:1 speaks of seeking hwhy early, and this describes the way authentic prophets
have set their hearts to seek Him: They are men and women who rise early and come before
the Throne of the Most High with reverent prayer and worship. This has always been the
case with the prophets of hwhy, including the prophets of old. Because the prophets of long
ago sought and found Elohim early,9 it is also recorded many times that they were sent early
to speak the Word of hwhy to Yisrael:
And now, because you have done all these works, says hwhy,
and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you heard not;
and I called you, but you answered not …
Jeremiah 7:13
Since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Mitsrayim10
to this day, I have even sent to you all My servants, the prophets,
daily rising up early and sending them.
Jeremiah 7:25
For I earnestly protested to your fathers in the day that I
brought them up out of the land of Mitsrayim, even to this day,
rising early and protesting, saying, “Obey My voice.”11
Jeremiah 11:7
Considering more fully the passages seen just above (especially the second and third), one
immediately asks: Which prophet had arisen early to speak to Yisrael from the day our
fathers came forth from Mitsrayim/Egypt? The record shows it was Mosheh/Moses: He rose
up early and earnestly sought hwhy on behalf of all Yisrael:

The ministry of the prophets has always been to the end that Yisrael would hear and obey the Torah—which was given
to them by hwhy through Mosheh/Moses. Luke 16:27-31

20 And hwhy said to Mosheh, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh;
behold, he comes forth to the water; and say to him, Thus says hwhy, Let My people go, that
they may serve Me. 21 Else, if you will not let My people go, behold, I will send swarms of
flies upon you, and upon your servants, and upon your people, and into your houses: and the
houses of the Egyptians shall be full of swarms of flies, and also the ground whereon they
are. 22 And I will set apart in that day the land of Goshen, in which My people dwell, that no
swarms of flies shall be there; to the end you may know that I am hwhy in the midst of the
earth. 23 And I will put a division between My people and your people: by tomorrow shall
this sign come to be. Exodus 8:20-23
13 And hwhy said to Mosheh, Rise up early in the morning, and stand before Pharaoh, and
say to him, Thus says hwhy, the Elohim of the Hebrews, Let My people go, that they may serve
Me. 14 For this time I will send all My plagues upon your heart, and upon your servants, and
upon your people; that you may know that there is none like Me in all the earth. 15 For now I
had put forth My hand, and smitten you and your people with pestilence, and you would have
been cut off from the earth: 16 but in very deed, for this cause I have made you to stand: To
show you My power, and that My Name may be declared throughout all the earth. Exodus
9:13-16
The above texts show how Mosheh rose early while still in Egypt, but we see that his seeking
of hwhy early did not change, even after Yisrael came forth from the captivity:
3 And Mosheh came and told the people all the words of hwhy, and all the ordinances: and
all the people answered with one voice, and said, All the words which hwhy has spoken will
we do. 4 And Mosheh wrote all the words of hwhy, and rose up early in the morning, and
built an altar under the mountain, and twelve pillars, according to the twelve tribes of
Yisrael. Exodus 24:3-4
And what occurred on that special day in which Mosheh was ordained to see the splendor of
hwhy ?
1 And hwhy said to Mosheh, Hew two tables of stone like the first: and I will write upon the
tables the words that were on the first tables, which you broke. 2 And be ready by the
morning, and come up in the morning into Mount Sinai, and present yourself there to me on
the top of the mountain. 3 And no man shall come up with you; neither let any man be seen
throughout all the mountain; neither let the flocks or herds feed before that mountain.
4 And he hewed two tables of stone like the first; and Mosheh rose up early in the morning,
and went up into Mount Sinai, as hwhy had commanded him, and took in his hand two tables
of stone. Exodus 34:1-4
Many fail to acknowledge Mosheh was a prophet who spoke the irrevocable, immutable, age-
abiding Word of hwhy!12 He rose early; he sought the Face of hwhy earnestly. And all other
prophets are seen walking the very same path: They rose early and declared to Yisrael that
they should return to hwhy and obey His Word/Torah.13 As we have earlier provided the
Scriptures from the mouth of the prophet Jeremiah, we should also hear what that prophet
spoke about himself and rising up early:

12
Isaiah 40:8, Matthew 5:17-20. The Word of hwhy spoken through Mosheh was “commanded to a thousand
generations.” Deuteronomy 7:9, 1Chronicles 16:15-18, Psalm 105:8 A thousand generations is easily in excess of 40,000
years, and it may be as much as 100,000 years if generations are 100 years long (see Genesis 15:13-16). Greater
longevity in the Kingdom is a reasonable expectation, given the life-span of man before the Flood.
13
Jeremiah 25:4-7, 29:19, 35:15, 44:4-6
3
From the thirteenth year of Yoshiyahu (Josiah), the son of Amon,
king of Yahudah, even to this day, that is the three and twentieth year,14
the Word of hwhy has come to me, and I have spoken to you,
rising early and speaking; but you have not listened.
Jeremiah 25:3
Declaring the Word of hwhy, Yirmeyahu (Jeremiah) had long warned Yisrael their
desecration of the Shabbat/Sabbath would lead to terrible wrath upon the nation.15 After this
wrath had fallen, and after 70 plus years had passed since the start of the Babylonian
captivity, Nechemyah16 not only confirmed the Word of hwhy through Yirmeyah, he further
warned the remnant which had returned to the Land that, if they once more profaned the
Seventh Day, further wrath would fall upon them for violating the Torah.17
The record shows the other prophets of hwhy also arose early to seek Him, and they, too,
received His Word to speak to the people; below is a list of those prophets shown to have
arisen early in their earnest, diligent seeking of Elohim:
• Abraham: Genesis 19:27-29, (20:1-7), 21:14, 22:3
• Mosheh: Exodus 8:20, 9:13, 24:4, 34:4
• Yahoshua/Joshua: Joshua 3:1, 6:12, 7:16, 8:10
• Iyob/Job: Job 1:5, (James 5:10-11, Job 1:20-22)
• Shemuel/Samuel: 1Samuel 15:11-12
• David: Psalm 5:1-3, 63:1, 143:5-8
• King Hezekiah:18 Psalm 130:5-7
• Yeshayahu/Isaiah: Isaiah 21:6-12, 33:2, 50:4-7
• Yirmeyah/Jeremiah: In addition to the texts already cited for Jeremiah, see Lamentations
3:21-26.
• Yechezkel/Ezekiel: Ezekiel 12:7-11, 33:21-33
• Hoshea: Hosea 6:3, 10:12
• eswhy the Messiah: Mark 1:35, John 8:2
• Sha’ul: 2Corinthians 6:5, 11:27, Colossians 4:12-1319
• All Followers of eswhy (since He calls all of His followers prophets20): Mark 13:35,
Revelation 2:26-28

While this text reveals the life of Epaphras, we also believe Epaphras was simply following the example of Sha’ul—
who was clearly following the Example of the Messiah. 1Corinthians 4:16, 11:1

Matthew 5:11-12. Also see: Acts 2:17, 1Corinthians 14:24,31. This is a fulfillment of the words/desire of Mosheh that
all the people of hwhy could/would prophesy because He had put His Spirit upon them! Numbers 11:28-29.

Nebuchadrezzar, King of Babel/Babylon. Nebuchadrezzar personally gave the command to
release Jeremiah from prison,21 and evidence indicates the Babylonian king was well aware of
the prophet’s warnings pronounced against Yisrael and Yerushalayim/Jerusalem.22 Since
Jeremiah seemed to be the culmination of the effort by hwhy to incline the hearts of His
people to obey, we hear many, many references made to the long history of all the prophets
having risen early to speak to Yisrael since the days of the Exodus, and since their time in the
Land of Promise had begun.23 The Hebrew word translated “early” implies “diligently,” and
“often.” “Early” (in the morning) would certainly be an essential part of this authentic
seeking. Because he sought hwhy with his whole heart, Yirmeyah was also chosen to give
expression to this requirement for seeking Elohim early/earnestly, and the Spirit declared
through the prophet:
And you shall seek Me, and find Me,
when you shall search for me with all your heart.
Jeremiah 29:13
Rising early to seek hwhy earnestly is an essential part of the continual asking,24 seeking,25
and knocking26 taught by eswhy the Messiah27—who instructed His followers they, too,
would number among the prophets.28 Followers of eswhy are prophets since they possess His
commandment-keeping testimony—the testimony ever associated with the Spirit of
prophecy.29 For those who walk in obedience by asking, seeking, and knocking, a door of
vision and prophecy is opened to them n the heavens.30
The Heart of a Prophet: Hungering and Thirsting for hwhy
Over the centuries, men have continually devised various, vain methods by which they
hope to seek and find hwhy. However, putting aside the devices of man, hwhy requires those
who would seek and find Him to humble themselves with fasting and prayer.31 A soul which
truly hungers and thirsts for hwhy is one which has also both expressed and felt the physical
hunger and thirst which accompanies times of fasting and prayer. A man can say he hungers
and thirsts for hwhy, but faith without works is dead.32 The mindset to seek the Most High by
prayer and fasting is what constitutes truly seeking Him;33 apart from such heavenly-ordained
things, we are not, and will not be, wholehearted.34 Understanding this, we can see how
much Mosheh hungered and thirsted,35 how much eswhy hungered and thirsted,36 how much

indicate believers are to possess the two-fold testimony of obedience: keeping the commandments of hwhy and the
faith/testimony of eswhy: John 14:1, Revelation 1:9, 12:17, 14:12, 19:10. The Spirit of prophecy rests upon those who
observe His Torah since His Word reveals that which is, that which was, and that which is to come. Revelation 1:8,19,

Eliyahu (Elijah) hungered and thirsted,37 how much David hungered and thirsted,38 how much
Daniel hungered and thirsted,39 and we see how much Sha’ul, and the other apostles,
hungered and thirsted for hwhy.40 All these prophets hungered and thirsted for the Presence
and splendor of the Most High; they hungered to know more of His ways and to see His
Kingdom established in the hearts of all Yisrael. Their hunger and thirst was often tangibly
expressed through the act of faith known as fasting: Their physical hunger and thirst was an
outward expression/evidence of their inner seeking, the inner hunger and thirst which drove
them onward spiritually. And all of these prophets were rewarded according to their faith:
As they sought and found hwhy, each one was used of the Most High to feed His sheep41 and
to further His Kingdom in the earth.
Desiring to See the Power and Splendor of hwhy
Prophets desire to see the power and splendor of hwhy; and it is this desire to be in His
Presence which fuels their hunger and thirst for righteousness.42 In their desire to witness the
power and splendor of hwhy, the record shows many prophets both sought and found Him.
♦ Mosheh/Moses. Mosheh prayed to be shown the Most High’s splendor, and his prayer was
answered:
12 And Mosheh said to hwhy, See, You have said to me, Bring up this people: and You have
not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, I know you by name, and
you have also found favor in My sight. 13 Now therefore, I beseech You, if I have found favor
in Your sight, show me now Your way,43 that I may know You, that I may find favor in Your
sight: and consider that this nation is Your people. 14 And He said, My Presence shall go
with you, and I will give you rest. 15 And he said to Him, If Your Presence is not going, do
not take us up from here. 16 For wherein shall it be known here that I and Your people have
found favor in Your sight? Is it not in that You go with us? So shall we be separated, I and
Your people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth. 17 And hwhy said to
Mosheh, I will do this thing also that you have spoken: for you have found favor in My sight,
and I know you by name. 18 And he said, I beseech You: Show me Your splendor. 19 And He
said, I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the Name of hwhy
before you; and will bestow favor upon (those) to whom I will bestow favor, and will show
kindness to whom I will show kindness.44 20 And He said, You cannot see My face: for there
shall no man see Me and live. 21 And hwhy said, Behold, there is a place by Me, and you
shall stand upon a rock: 22 and it shall come to pass, while My splendor passes by, that I will
put you in a cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand while I pass by:23 and I will
take away My hand, and you will see My back parts: but My face shall not be seen. 1 And

While there is a proper way for desiring to see His power and splendor, there are most certainly many improper ways:
when it was revealed that Simon Magus wanted the power of the Spirit for selfish desires, he was sternly rebuked by
Kepha/Peter (Acts 8:9-24); and we fear that many today are in the same place as Simon Magus. As one brother has so
aptly said, “They are exalting the gifts of the Spirit instead of exalting the One who gives them.” Gifts of the Spirit are to
exalt hwhy—to bring honor to His Name (Psalm 115:1-2), and to edify His people (Ephesians 4:7-15, 1Corinthians 12:28-
14:3); but so often, the carnal will want to use the gifts for self-promotion and self-glorification. Through love, we are to
serve one another (Galatians 5:13), and the spiritual gifts, while important, are still only one aspect of this service.

Mount Sinai, as hwhy had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone. 5
And hwhy descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the Name of
hwhy. 6 And hwhy passed by before him, and proclaimed: hwhy, hwhy, a compassionate El,
and showing favor, patient, and abundant in kindness and truth, 7 keeping kindness for
thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the
guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children’s children,
to the third and to the fourth generation. 8 And Mosheh made haste, and bowed his head
toward the earth, and worshipped. Exodus 33:12-34:8
♦ David. David also sought hwhy in His Dwelling Place with the intent to see His power and
splendor:
1 Elohim, You are my Elohim; early will I seek You: my soul thirsts for You,
my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land, where there is no water,
2 to see Your power and Your splendor, so as I have seen
You in the Set Apart Place.
Psalm 63:1-2
David was a prophet who not only conveyed man’s heart to seek hwhy, but he also revealed to
us the heart of hwhy—Who desires to be sought after by those who love Him. Many of
David’s psalms have richly blessed us by giving wonderful expression to this great aspect of
True Worship: Hungering and thirsting for our greatest need, the Presence of hwhy.
♦ Eliyahu/ Eliyah (Elijah46). Eliyahu also saw the splendor of hwhy 47 through a most unique
and instructive meeting with the Most High. It had been a tough, few days: After his
encounter with and defeat of the prophets of Ba’al on Mount Carmel,48 Jezebel was seeking
to slay Eliyahu, and he fled for his life a day’s journey into the wilderness from Be’ersheva.49
While there, a messenger of hwhy found and fed him, later instructing him to go to Sinai, the
mountain of hwhy. That heavenly meal lasted the prophet 40 days,50 and once he was on the
mountain, like Mosheh, Eliyahu encountered the power and splendor of hwhy:
8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that food forty days and
forty nights unto Horeb the mountain of Elohim. 9 And he came there to a cave, and lodged
there; and behold, the word of hwhy came to him, and He said unto him, What are you doing
here, Eliyahu? 10 And he said, I have been very jealous for hwhy Elohim of hosts: for the

45
When David wrote of seeking hwhy early in Psalm 63, he then spoke of seeing His power and splendor. Was David
referring back to this very incident in which Mosheh had arisen early to see the splendor of the Name of hwhy? We
believe so! Rising early is an essential part of truly seeking and finding hwhy.
46
The “jah” of Elijah is the same as the “jah” of “Hallelujah,” and this “jah” is pronounced as “Yah” worldwide. And
rightly so, since this is the Hebrew (hy), pronounced “Yah.” However, in Hebrew, the name “Eliyahu” usually ends with
the three letters which compose the first two syllables of the Qadosh Name: why (Yahu). This ending is identical to the
modern Israeli leader’s name: Benjamin Netanyahu.

children of Yisrael have forsaken Your covenant, thrown down Your altars, and slain Your
prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 11
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mountain before hwhy. And, behold, hwhy passed
by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains, and broke in pieces the rocks before
hwhy;51 but hwhy was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but hwhy was not in
the earthquake: 12 And after the earthquake a fire;52 but hwhy was not in the fire: and after
the fire a still, small voice.53 13 And it was so, when Eliyah heard it, that he wrapped his face
in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave.54 And, behold, there
came a voice to him, and said, What are you doing here, Eliyah? 14 And he said, I have been
very jealous for hwhy Elohim of hosts: because the children of Yisrael have forsaken Your
covenant, thrown down Your altars, and slain Your prophets with the sword; and I, even I
only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away. 15 And hwhy said to him, Go, return on
your way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when you come, anoint Hazael to be king over
Syria: 16 And Yehu, the son of Nimshi, you shall anoint to be king over Yisrael: and Elisha,
the son of Shaphat, of Abelmeholah, you shall anoint to be prophet in your place. 17 And it
shall come to pass, that he that escapes the sword of Hazael shall Yehu slay: and he that
escapes from the sword of Yehu shall Elisha slay. 18 Yet I have left for Me seven thousand in
Yisrael, all the knees which have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth which has not kissed
him. 1Kings 19:8-18
We believe hwhy was teaching Eliyahu (and us)55 many things through his encounter with the
Spirit/Presence of the Most High:
1.“Is not My Word like a fire, and like a hammer that breaks in pieces the rocks?”56
Without question, the ministry of the prophet Eliyah was characterized by might and power:57
Eliyah had already raised a young boy from the dead;58 at his word, fire from heaven
consumed those who intended to slay him;59 and after he prayed, the Fire of hwhy fell to
consume the evening offering at Mount Carmel.60 This prophet had seen, firsthand, the
powerful Word of hwhy acting as a fire and, like a hammer, breaking rocks into pieces.
Yet, to hwhy, the most important thing in all these matters
was that Eliyahu could be a vessel to carry out such mighty deeds
because the prophet had walked in obedience to the Spirit by his
continually hearing that still, small voice of Elohim.61

During this displays of power, we see the possibility that Eliyahu was sheltered in the same cleft of the rock in which
Mosheh had been hidden. (See Exodus 33:21-22) And even if this is not the case, the act of both prophets being sheltered
is quite similar.

Eliyahu’s power was granted because he continually drew near to rest in the Presence of
hwhy: to hear His voice, to obey the Shema, the preeminent commandment in all of the
Torah:62
4 Shema, Yisrael: hwhy is our Elohim, hwhy is one.
5 And you shall love hwhy your Elohim with all your heart,
and with all your nephesh/being, and with all your me’ode/might.
Deuteronomy 6:4-5
In these Last Days, too many believers make the mistake of seeking hwhy for the power to
perform miracles instead of simply seeking Him—seeking Him with the intent to hear His
voice and to obtain the power and leading to obey His Torah and to walk as the Messiah
walked.63
As Eliyahu saw, heard, and felt the results of these displays of power
on Mount Sinai, we believe he was taught/reminded of the thing
of single most importance in the True Worship of Elohim:
Hearing and obeying the voice of hwhy. 64
The thing of greatest importance in the Kingdom of hwhy is neither witnessing nor partaking
in the powerful and the miraculous. The thing of greatest importance is simple obedience to
His voice: We speak only of obedience motivated by love and gratitude towards the Father,
for it is this which blesses the heart of our Creator and Redeemer.65 Ultimately, those who
hear and obey the voice of hwhy do not need to see such displays of power because of the
great blessings which are already theirs simply because His Spirit dwells with them and in
them.66 He, alone, is our Shield and our Exceedingly Great Reward.67 If we have hwhy, we
have everything,68 although it may appear to the onlooker that we have nothing.69
2. Not by Might, Nor by Power 70
While the Presence of hwhy is awesome and overwhelming, it is ultimately the Spirit of hwhy
which brings about the greatest change of all. Can the power of hwhy tear mountains and
break the rocks into pieces? Absolutely. It did! And it will do so once more!71 Can the
power of hwhy cause the earth to quake and topple kingdoms forever? It certainly has, it
certainly can, and it will certainly do so once again, in the fast-approaching Day of hwhy, a
Time of unspeakable wrath set to be revealed in the very near future.72 Can the power of
hwhy send forth fire and consume His adversaries? That which has been73 is that which will

be,74 and with somber warning, hwhy declares Himself to be a consuming fire:75 It is His
fiery wrath that we see revealed in the Revelation of eswhy the Messiah.76 In view of all
these devastating judgments of His burning wrath—now forthcoming and soon to be revealed
on a worldwide scale—hwhy is working with concern to seal His servants77 in advance of
these many conflagrations and cataclysmic upheavals—all of which will be overwhelming in
scope and magnitude. It is just as hwhy declared to/through the prophet, Zecharyah:
Then he answered and spoke to me, saying,
“This is the Word of hwhy to Zerubbabel, saying,
‘Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit,’
says hwhy of hosts.” Zechariah 4:6
While the Presence of hwhy is awesome and overwhelming, and while His power can do
things which are infinitely beyond the scope of man’s mortal capabilities, it is ultimately the
Spirit of hwhy which brings about the greatest change of all: Human hearts which know Him,
love Him, and serve Him. The power of His Spirit working to transform, change, and mold
human hearts into His image is, by far, the greatest concern in the mind of hwhy.78
3. Be Still and Know That I am Elohim 79
In the face of the approaching onslaught of apocalyptic cataclysms and destructive
judgments—by which the power of hwhy will destroy nations and kingdoms—the most
important thing for anyone who serves the Most High is, ironically, a very special act of
righteousness which is quiet, calm, and simple: Waiting before His Presence with watching
and prayer.80 It is absolutely essential for His people to be still before Him as we wait in
prayer for His working and His salvation, even in the face of the worst difficulties. Through
Isaiah, hwhy said it like this:
For thus says the Sovereign hwhy, the Qadosh One of Yisrael,
“In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and
in confidence shall be your strength” …
Isaiah 30:15
And Jeremiah spoke similarly when he wrote of fasting and prayer:
It is good that a man should hope and quietly wait
for the salvation of hwhy. It is good for a man that he bears
the yoke in his youth: Let him sit alone and keep silence, because He has
laid it upon him. Let him put his mouth in the dust, if so be there may be hope.
Lamentations 3:26-29
In the very same vein, Psalm 46 contains what must be amongst the most assuring lines in all
of Scripture; and through this reassuring word, hwhy speaks to us, once more, of this great
truth: Prayer must be accompanied by times of simply waiting and resting in His Presence;
these are times to be filled with reverence, awe, and quiet submission as we quietly rest in His
all-powerful, unstoppable sovereignty. As we give Him our burdens, through prayers and

petitions, we must then also wait before Him with faith: we must rest in the assurance that His
all-powerful sovereignty will most certainly bring about His will and His good pleasure.
Such waiting and resting is a most powerful and age-abiding aspect of True Worship, and
doing this yields the expectation that does not disappoint:81
Be still, and know that I am Elohim:
I will be exalted among the nations; I will be
exalted in the earth. hwhy of hosts is with us,
the Elohim of Ya’acob is our refuge
Psalm 46:10-11
Having rested in His sovereignty, we can then give thanks for whatever He will, or will not
do in regard to our prayers: We can give thanks that He will be exalted in and through the
burdens of our heart, through the trials we face, through the blessings He gives, and through
the work His Spirit does in our lives. Of the great peace/shalom that comes from completely
rolling our burdens upon hwhy, Sha’ul said this:
6 In nothing be anxious; but in everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to Elohim. 7 And the
shalom of Elohim, which passes all understanding, will guard
your hearts and your minds in the Messiah eswhy.
Philippians 4:6
The only source of true strength and continual peace/shalom is through seeking and finding
hwhy, and the account of Eliyahu’s time on Mount Sinai conveys to us the supreme
importance of hearing and obeying His still, small voice. We must see that hearing His voice
is our greatest spiritual need! We believe this entire story surrounding Eliyahu was, and still
remains, a reiteration of the very commandment regarded by the Messiah to be the most
important edict in all of the Torah:82
4 Hear, Yisrael: hwhy is our Elohim, hwhy is one.
5 And you shall love hwhy your Elohim with all your heart,
and with all your soul, and with all your might.
Deuteronomy 6:4-5
As Eliyahu learned, so must we all learn that, to hear hwhy, there is more involved than
directing our petitions toward Him: We must not only learn to pray, but we must also learn to
be still before Him: We must learn to wait in His Presence while exercising faith in and
thanksgiving for the sovereign love which is ultimately behind all that He does and all that He
allows. Only then will we know, of a certainty, that He is Elohim and that He will most
assuredly work to bring about His exaltation in all the earth.83 After we begin both fasting
and praying in this manner, we will then find “the weapons of our warfare are mighty before
Elohim to the casting down of strongholds,”84 and He will use our petitions to advance His
Kingdom in many great and powerful ways.

But the power is His, and not ours,85 and this is what
many appear to so easily forget and/or fail to acknowledge.
And this is certainly an important part of what the vision of Eliyahu teaches us. We now
leave the prophet Eliyahu/Elijah and move on to Yeshayahu/Isaiah.
♦ Yeshayahu/Isaiah. The great splendor seen by Mosheh, David, and Eliyahu, is also the
great splendor of hwhy which was revealed to Isaiah:
1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Sovereign sitting upon a throne, high and lifted
up; and His train filled the palace. 2 Above Him stood the seraphim: each one had six wings;
with two he covered his face, and with two he covered his feet, and with two he flew. 3 And
one cried to another, and said, Qadosh, qadosh, qadosh, is hwhy of hosts: the whole earth is
full of His splendor. 4 And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him that
cried, and the house was filled with smoke. 5 Then I said, Woe is me! For I am undone;
because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for
my eyes have seen the King, hwhy of hosts. Isaiah 6:1-5
Yochanan would later say of this incident that Isaiah had seen the splendor of the pre-
incarnate Messiah:
35 eSwhy therefore said to them, Yet a little while is the light among you. Walk while you
have the light, that darkness does not overtake you: and he that walks in the darkness does
not know where he is going. 36 While you have the light, believe on the light, that you may
become sons of light. These things spoke eSwhy, and He departed and hid Himself from them.
37 But though He had done so many signs before them, yet they believed not on Him: 38 that
the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke, “hwhy, who has believed
our report? And to whom has the arm of hwhy been revealed?86 39 For this cause they could
not believe, for that Isaiah said again, 40 “He hath blinded their eyes, and He hardened
their heart; lest they should see with their eyes, and perceive with their heart, and should
turn, and I should heal them.”87 41 These things said Isaiah, because he saw His splendor,88
and he spoke of Him. John 12:35-41
And having seen the splendor of hwhy, was the prophet Isaiah more or less inclined to declare
the Torah to all Yisrael? He was obviously more inclined to do so:
• Isaiah declared the Torah to be the Word of Elohim that will abide across all the ages of
time:
“The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word
of our Elohim stands forever.”
Isaiah 40:8
This statement was the prophet’s echo of the Deuteronomy prophecy in which hwhy stated the
decrees of His immutable Torah would span 1000 generations.89 This far-reaching time span
will easily range anywhere from 40,000 to 100,000 plus years! Like the Messiah, Isaiah

indicated the Torah will remain in force as the Moral Code of Righteousness all the way
through the Kingdom Age.90 And during the time of Isaiah’s prophecies, the record indicates
this prophet spoke many things which only upheld the immutable Torah:
• Isaiah rebuked Yisrael for profaning the Shabbat: Isaiah 58:1-14.
• He warned those Israelites who ate abominable flesh that they would incur the flaming
wrath of hwhy: Isaiah 65:1-7, 66:3-5, 15-17,24, Leviticus 11:1-31, Deuteronomy 14:1-20.
• Isaiah was given many prophecies surrounding both the First and Second Coming of the
Messiah:
1. The First Appearing of the Messiah: Isaiah 7:14/Matthew 1:23, Isaiah 11:1-4,
53:1-13.
2. The Second Appearing of the Messiah and the Messianic Kingdom: Isaiah 2:1-5,
11:4-16, 24:1-23, 30:27-33, 33:10-17, 65:13-25, 66:15-24.
• Isaiah proclaimed the immutable, enduring nature of the Shabbat and New Moons as he
showed them to be prophetic shadows91 of even greater things yet to come: He declared the
Shabbat and New Moons would still be observed in the Messianic Kingdom and the
New/Renewed Heavens and Earth: Isaiah 66:22-24.
• Isaiah spoke of the Day of hwhy, warning that the burning wrath of El Shaddai would come
upon all the nations in the End Time because of all their anti-Torah idolatries and false
worship. Isaiah 2:10-22, 24:1-6, 30:27-33, 33:10-17, 65:1-15, 66:15-24.
• And the prophet spoke of the time when the nation of Yisrael would fulfill her Elohim-
given purpose and destiny: Proclaiming the Torah of hwhy throughout all the earth: Isaiah
2:1-5, 11:1-10, 60:1-12, 66:8-14. These restoration prophecies are among those many
predictions92 to which the apostles referred in their question to the Messiah: Acts 1:6.
♦ Yirmeyahu/Jeremiah. While we have no record that Yirmeyahu saw the splendor of hwhy
in any kind of an overwhelming vision, does this mean he was any less qualified to represent
the Word and the ways of the Most High? And does this mean Jeremiah never saw that
splendor in any form? Kepha/Peter wrote of all the prophets who lived and spoke before the
Messiah’s first appearing (this would include Jeremiah), and the emissary indicated that these
servants spoke of the splendors which would follow the sufferings of eSwhy:
… 10 Concerning which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently,
who prophesied of the favor to you: 11 searching what, or what manner of time the
Spirit of the Messiah which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand
the sufferings of the Messiah, and the splendors that should follow.
1Peter 1:10-11
So, if Yirmeyahu spoke of the splendors yet to be revealed, then, like all of the other
prophets, he did most certainly see the splendor of hwhy. Even apart from any sky-splitting
vision, Yirmeyahu still saw the splendor and greatness of hwhy through His spoken, prophetic
Word—the Word which was so greatly revealed to this young prophet. Yirmeyahu heard that

(i.e., of the Kingdom being restored to Yisrael). Other prophecies of Yisrael’s restoration may be seen in: Isaiah 2:1-5,
11:1-16, Jeremiah 30:7-10, Ezekiel 37:21-28, Daniel 7:21-22, 27, Hosea 3:4-5, Micah 4:1-4, Habakkuk 2:14, 3:1-19,

13
still, small voice. In the midst of his many rebukes against Yisrael for forsaking the Torah,
we also read what Jeremiah revealed about the splendors of the Kingdom which would follow
the Messiah’s victorious life and His resurrection from the dead:
• Yirmeyahu rebuked Yisrael for profaning the Shabbat, warning them that continued
disobedience would lead to their captivity: Jeremiah 17:19-27 (Upon the return from
Babel/Babylon, Nehemiah later confirmed the word of hwhy through Jeremiah: Yisrael’s
profaning the Shabbat was precisely what led to the wrath of hwhy; profaning the Shabbat
brought on their national judgment, their horrendous siege, and their traumatic captivity of
seventy years duration, Nehemiah 13:15-18).
• Jeremiah rebuked the priests for not upholding the Torah: Jeremiah 1:18, 2:8, 5:31, 13:13,
26:7-8,11, 32:30-33.
• Jeremiah spoke of the time when Yisrael would be restored and, like Isaiah, he proclaimed
the chosen nation would surely fulfill her Elohim-given purpose and destiny: Proclaiming the
Torah of hwhy throughout all the earth: Jeremiah 3:17-18, 23:5-8, 31:23-40, 33:14-22.
As all the other prophets indicated, this will be the Messianic Age, the time in man’s history
when the whole earth is filled with the knowledge of the splendor of hwhy!93 Through the
Messiah, all believers are grafted into the Olive Tree of Yisrael;94 and so, each person has the
blessed opportunity to partake in this Reign and in the fulfillment of these great prophecies.
• Yirmeyahu also spoke of the time when hwhy would reign as King out of Mount Tziyon,
having imparted Ruach ha’Qodesh, “the gift of righteousness,”95 to all of His people:
Jeremiah 23:5-8.
In closing, Yirmeyahu “broke the mold:” His experience does not fit with the general
expectation that a prophet will see, or experience, the sensational; but this does not disqualify
him in any way. Yirmeyahu heard the voice of hwhy, he heard His Spirit; and the prophet
clearly became a teacher of the Torah: He was used of hwhy to rebuke Yisrael for their anti-
Torah lawlessness. And in the process, he also saw and uttered many prophecies about the
coming splendors of the Messianic Kingdom! Jeremiah is counted to be among what many
today call “the major prophets.” His life and teachings were a force with which to be
reckoned, because the Spirit of the Most High gave him the words of truth—words of truth
which only upheld the immutable Torah; Jeremiah spoke the irrevocable Word of hwhy to all
Yisrael.
♦ Yechezkel/Ezekiel. Ezekiel, too, saw the power and splendor of hwhy many times,96 and he
subsequently declared the immutable Torah and the Word of hwhy to Yisrael. Here is his first
account of many such visions:
1 Now it came to pass in the thirtieth year, in the fourth month, in the fifth day of the month,
as I was among the captives by the river of Chebar, that the heavens were opened, and I saw
visions of Elohim. 2 In the fifth day of the month, which was the fifth year of king
Yehoiachin’s captivity, 3 The word of hwhy came expressly to Ezekiel the priest, the son of
Buzi, in the land of the Chaldeans by the river Chebar; and the hand of hwhy was there upon
him. 4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire

infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the color of
amber, out of the midst of the fire. 5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four
living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. 6 And every
one had four faces, and every one had four wings. 7 And their feet were straight feet; and the
sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf’s foot: and they sparkled like the color of
burnished brass. 8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides;
and the four had their faces and their wings. 9 Their wings were joined one to another; they
turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. 10 As for the likeness of
their faces, these four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and
these four had the face of an ox on the left side; these four also had the face of an eagle. 11
Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were
joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. 12 And they went every one straight
forward: wherever the Spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. 13 As
for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and
like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire
was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14 And the living creatures ran and
returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning. 15 Now as I beheld the living creatures,
behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces. 16 The
appearance of the wheels and their work was like the color of a beryl: and these four had one
likeness: and their appearance and their work was, as it were, a wheel in the middle of a
wheel. 17 When they went, they went upon their four sides: and they turned not when they
went. 18 As for their rings, they were so high that they were dreadful; and their rings were
full of eyes round about them four. 19 And when the living creatures went, the wheels went by
them: and when the living creatures were lifted up from the earth, the wheels were lifted up.
20 Wherever the Spirit was to go, they went: there was their spirit to go; and the wheels were
lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living creature was in the wheels. 21 When
those went, these went; and when those stood, these stood; and when those were lifted up
from the earth, the wheels were lifted up over against them: for the spirit of the living
creature was in the wheels. 22 And the likeness of the firmament upon the heads of the living
creature was as the color of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
23 And under the firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one
had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their
bodies. 24 And when they went, I heard the noise of their wings, like the noise of great
waters, as the voice of the Almighty, the voice of speech, as the noise of a host: when they
stood, they let down their wings. 25 And there was a voice from the firmament that was over
their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings. 26 And above the firmament that
was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a sapphire stone: and
upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it. 27
And I saw as the color of amber, as the appearance of fire round about within it, from the
appearance of His loins even upward, and from the appearance of His loins even downward,
I saw as it were the appearance of fire, and it had brightness round about. 28 As the
appearance of the bow that is in the cloud in the day of rain, so was the appearance of the
brightness round about. This was the appearance of the likeness of the splendor of hwhy.
And when I saw it, I fell upon my face, and I heard a voice of One that spoke. Ezekiel 1:1-28
This was the first of Ezekiel’s visions in which the splendor of hwhy was revealed to the
prophet.97 And after seeing this splendor, the prophet spoke mightily to uphold the Torah

before all Yisrael; and we also rejoice that, in the process, Ezekiel saw and relayed still other
aspects of the splendors of the forthcoming, Messianic Kingdom:
• Throughout the days of his prophesying, Ezekiel continually declared the immutable, age-
abiding statutes of hwhy to Yisrael: Ezekiel 5:1-17, 11:12,14-21,(22-25), 18:1-24, 20:1-24,
33:10-20, 36:22-27, 37:21-25, 44:4-31 In using Ezekiel to correct them in this manner, hwhy
was declaring to Yisrael that they were carried away into captivity for their transgressions
against His Torah. The lesson of the Babylonian captivity was, and still remains: Sin is
transgression of the Torah,98 and hwhy never has, and never will, take this lightly.
• Ezekiel rebuked the priests for not upholding the Torah; he reproved them for their failure
to teach the Torah and to remind the people of the perpetual, enduring Shabbat, along with all
of His other age-abiding mitzvot/commandments:99
Her priests have done violence to My Torot, and have profaned My set apart things:
They have made no distinction between the set apart and the common, neither have they
caused men to discern between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their

Ezekiel 22:26
At other times, too, Ezekiel reproved the priests for failing to teach/uphold the Torah: Ezekiel
20:1-14, 22:7-9, 23-29, 23:36-39.
• Ezekiel saw the vision of hwhy in the Valley of Dry Bones, a prophecy of the restoration of
all Yisrael in the resurrection. Ezekiel 37:1-14
• And Ezekiel also saw a vision which revealed the splendor of hwhy among His people in the
Millennium, along with a vision of the Third Temple. Ezekiel chapters 40-48.
We understand that, the more of the Most High’s splendor which a prophet sees, the more of
His Torah that prophet will see and proclaim. Those who truly understand eswhy
ha’Mashiach to be the Word of hwhy made Flesh101 also know that He cannot be fully
proclaimed apart from fully proclaiming His Father’s Torah.102
♦ eswhy ha’Mashiach.103 More than any other prophet who has ever lived, eswhy
ha’Mashiach saw the splendor of hwhy in the Spirit:
19 eswhy therefore answered and said to them, “Amein, amein, I say to you:
The Son can do nothing of Himself, except what He sees the Father doing:
For whatever things He does, these the Son also does in like manner.
20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He does:
and greater works than these will He show Him, that you may marvel.

Unlike self-proclaimed prophets in our days, after the prophet Ezekiel saw visions of Elohim, he was only more
inclined to teach the immutable Torah/Teaching of hwhy. And no wonder: The Spirit of hwhy is complete unison with
His age-abiding Torah. Isaiah 63:10

John 8:38
eswhy continually saw and heard His Father in the Spirit, and so He did according to all that
He had seen. As a result, the favor and truth of hwhy has come to us through the Messiah in
the greatest abundance:
For the Torah was given through Mosheh,
favor and truth came by eswhy ha’Mashiach.
John 1:17
What John has indicated in the above lines is that the favor of hwhy, brought to us through
eswhy the Messiah, has now made it possible for His people to uphold the commandments of
His Father’s Torah, just as was so clearly prophesied of the New Covenant: His Torah would
be written on the hearts and minds of those who believe,104 thus making obedience both
possible and expected.105 The Father’s favor and truth—brought to us through eswhy in the
Spirit—are that which make obedience possible. And the great splendor which the Messiah
saw is also the great splendor which the Father manifested to His followers at the
Transfiguration—that special occasion on which the Savior emanated with the Light of hwhy.
This is the splendor of hwhy which was witnessed by three prophets who numbered among
the very first followers of the Messiah.
♦ Kepha, Ya’acob, and Yochanan (Peter, James, and John). These prophets also saw the
power and splendor of hwhy. In their case, these three were blessed to see the Light of hwhy
which emanated from the Messiah at the Transfiguration.
28 And it came to pass about eight days after these sayings,
that He took with Him Kepha and Yochanan and Ya’acob, and went up
into the mountain to pray. 29 And as He was praying, the fashion of
His countenance was altered, and His raiment was dazzling white.
Luke 9:28-29
When later recounting this incident, Kepha would write:
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known
to you the power and coming (parousia) of our Sovereign eswhy ha’Mashiach,
but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. 17 For He received from Elohim, the Father,
honor and splendor, when there came such a voice to Him from the excellent splendor,
“This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” 18 And this voice which came
from heaven we heard, when we were with Him in the set apart mountain.

17
And having seen this great splendor, both Kepha and Yochanan would later write of the
importance of keeping the commandments of the Torah.106 Kepha wrote of those who fell
away by turning aside from the set apart commandment (i.e., the Torah):
21 For it were better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than,
after knowing it, to turn back from the set apart commandment 107 delivered to them.
22 But it has happened to them according to the true proverb, “The dog turns to his
own vomit again, and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mud.”
2Peter 2:21-22
And Yochanan indicated time after time that the Savior’s true followers would exhibit the
love of Elohim which is proven through keeping His Torah commandments.108
♦ Yochanan/John. Yochanan would later see another great revelation of the Messiah’s
splendor, and this is recorded in the book now known by that name: The Revelation. This
record of prophecy is most certainly a revelation of the great power and splendor of hwhy as
revealed through eswhy the Messiah:
12 And I turned to see the voice which spoke with me. And having turned, I saw seven golden
lampstands, 13 and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Adam, dressed in
a robe down to the feet and girded about the chest with a golden band. 14 And His head and
hair were white as white wool, as snow, and His eyes as a flame of fire, 15 and His feet like
burnished brass, as if refined in a furnace, and His voice as the sound of many waters. 16
And in His right hand He held seven stars, and out of His mouth went a sharp two-edged
sword,1 and His face was as the sun shining in its strength. 17 And when I saw Him, I fell at
His feet as dead, and He placed His right hand on me, saying, “Do not be afraid, I am the
First and the Last … Revelation 1:12-17, ISRV
The Apocalypse is a revelation of His power and splendor; further, it is a warning and a
confirmation that His truth and His Kingdom will mightily prevail in the earth over all the
evil (from whatever source) that opposes Him.
Seeing hwhy in His Set Apart Place
Prophets see hwhy by drawing near to His Presence, by abiding in His Set Apart Dwelling.
In Tehillah 63, David said it like this:
1 Elohim, You are my Elohim; early will I seek You.
My soul thirsts for You, my flesh longs for You, in a dry and thirsty land
where there is no water, 2 to see Your power and Your splendor,
so as I have seen You in the Set Apart Place.
Asaph also spoke of the clarity and vision which we receive in His Presence:
…Until I went in to the sanctuary of Elohim,
then I understood their end.
Psalm 73:17
Nothing can replace drawing near to the Throne of hwhy; nothing can replace entering into
His sanctuary in Heaven through the blood of the Messiah: Those who continually bow

before Him in reverent allegiance and worship will also know the light of His countenance,
the light of His intimate counsel. And in the light of His Presence, we will see more light:
…For with You is the fountain of life:
in Your light we see light.109
Psalm 36:17
As we pray, this light may come in the Spirit over a particular situation, and at some
subsequent point, we are often blessed with additional revelation and understanding in the
Word of hwhy. This increasing light from His Word is certainly part of the truth for which we
seek, and answers to even a single petition may be given many times as hwhy does
“exceeding abundantly beyond all that we ask or think.”110
♦ Psalm 63:3-4 ♦
3 Because Your lovingkindness is better than life,
my lips shall praise You. 4 Thus will I bless You while I live:
I will lift up my hands in Your Name.
Of Greatest and Supreme Value to the Prophets: Their Relationship With hwhy
David knew the lovingkindness of hwhy was better than life itself: A covenant
relationship with hwhy was far better than any earthly blessing. Such a relationship is the
ultimate fulfillment for which every human heart longs, yet so few realize this spiritual reality
is our greatest need. Consequently, multitudes set forth seeking for love and fulfillment in all
the wrong directions.111 Knowing the love of hwhy through actual experience, David also
wrote:
You have put gladness in my heart, more than when
their grain and their new wine are increased.
Psalm 4:7
David saw through the emptiness of those whose joy was found in the abundance of food and
new wine: He knew the true, authentic, and lasting joy which came from loving and serving
hwhy. Many hearts find joy in the pleasures of this life, yet without giving thanks and honor
to the One who created these things for our health and well being. Apart from the Creator,
such joy is empty, fleeting, and vain. And this remains the case even in our day as millions
gather in bars and restaurants to “rejoice” over food and wine, while the void in their hearts
remains unfulfilled: it is only the lovingkindness of the Most High, and His Presence, which
can meet this otherwise unquenchable human need to be in harmony with the One who
created us.
Sha’ul also knew the lovingkindness of hwhy was better than life itself: A covenant
relationship with hwhy was far beyond any earthly blessing. Consequently, he could write:
For, to me, to live is the
Messiah, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21

109
Compare the life and light seen in John 1:4.
110
Ephesians 3:20
111
Isaiah 53:6
19
While still living, this man ever held fast to the love of hwhy through eswhy the Messiah;112
yet Sha’ul also knew that to die was gain, since the very Presence of hwhy was the next thing
to be encountered after he had become conscious in the resurrection.
Neither of the two prophets just considered enjoyed a relationship with hwhy simply to be
accounted as “religious,” nor was their service rendered to Elohim merely to fulfill what most
people would call a “religious duty.” That is a horizontal mindset. However, both men knew
the reality of a Creator who loved them, and their minds were awed by the ever-present
reality of His greatness and sovereignty. These men loved the Most High with a vertical
mindset. True faith is not a religious show for the benefit of others: it is a living, active
relationship with the living Elohim. The One who created us is also the Sovereign King of
the Universe, and having given His Son for our redemption, He is worthy of all our love,
service, and devotion.113
A Heart Filled With Praise: “My Lips Shall Praise You”
We also find the hearts of prophets are filled with the praises of hwhy: Their hearts are
ever mindful of His immense, steadfast love, and the response is joy in Him: Praise expresses
our gratitude for the love of One who is great beyond description.
♦ In the Song of Mosheh,114 the prophet expressed the greatness of hwhy many times, and in
many ways:
3 For I will proclaim the Name of hwhy:115
Ascribe greatness to our Elohim. 4 The Rock! His work is perfect,
for all His ways are justice: An Elohim of faithfulness and
without iniquity, righteous and upright is He!
Deuteronomy 32:3-4
We further point out that Mosheh wrote at least one of the psalms: Psalm 90, “A Prayer of
Mosheh, the Man of Elohim.” And E.W. Bullinger has posited that, if Mosheh wrote Psalm
91, then all Scriptures cited in the wilderness temptation116 were ones written by hwhy
through Mosheh.117 And since Psalm 92 is titled, “A Psalm, a Song for the Shabbat,”118 it is
quite within reason to think Mosheh may have also been the author/singer of this blessed
song of praise surrounding the Seventh Day.119
♦ Of course, the prophet David is responsible for many songs of praise, and he has written
many of the songs in the book now widely known as Psalms, or in Hebrew, Tehillim (the
Hebrew word which means “praises;” tehillim is the plural form of “tehillah,” meaning
“praise”). Tehillim/Psalm 86 is titled, “A Prayer of David:”

117
See the Companion Bible, page 812 and the opening notes on Psalm 91. This is both significant and reasonable:
Since the Messiah was, indeed, the Prophet like Mosheh (Deuteronomy 18:15-19), it may have been the Adversary was
playing on this by citing only the Word of hwhy through Mosheh; his vain hope being that the Messiah would somehow
exalt Himself as that Prophet and sin.
118
See the title of Psalm 92.
119
As a prophet of hwhy, Mosheh had much to do with the Shabbat: He wrote of the institution of the Seventh Day at the
Creation (Genesis 2:1-3); he spoke of the Shabbat to Yisrael, even before the Ten Words were given to Yisrael at Sinai
(Exodus 16:4-30); he carried the Shabbat commandment on the Two Tables of the Covenant (Exodus 20:8-11); and he
spoke of the Shabbat later, revealing it as one of the covenants of promise (Exodus 31:12-17, Ephesians 2:12, 2Peter 1:3-
4).
20
11 Teach me Your way, hwhy; I will walk in Your truth:
unite my heart to fear Your Name. 12 I will praise You, hwhy 120 my Elohim,
with all my heart: and I will magnify Your Name to the Age. 13 For great is
Your chesed/kindness towards me: and You have delivered
my nephesh from the lowest Sheol/grave.
Psalm 86:11-13
In the Torah, there are many pages of extensive instruction surrounding animal sacrifices.
Why would this be? Why would hwhy go to such great lengths in giving these instructions
only to later teach His people that these words are now meaningless? Would He provide such
detailed instructions, only to later “abolish” His words? Of course, the prevailing opinion is
that these things have been abolished, but this writer does not concur with that anti-Torah
(antinomian) mindset. We see that these teachings actually intend to show us how very
important praise is to the Most High. Why do we say this? Because David would later write
how praising hwhy through word and song is so very far above and beyond animal sacrifices:
15 hwhy, You open my lips, and my mouth will show forth Your praise.
16 For You delight not in sacrifice, else I would give it: You have no pleasure
in burnt-offering. 17 The sacrifices of Elohim are a broken spirit:
a broken and contrite heart, Elohim, You will not despise.
Psalm 51:15-17
And in Tehillah 69, David would say the same thing, only in a different way: Praising hwhy
in song is even more pleasing to Him than offering animal sacrifices:
30 I will praise the Name of Elohim with a song,
and will magnify Him with thanksgiving, 31 and it will please
hwhy better than an ox, a bullock that has horns and hooves.
Psalm 69:30-31121
Hence, we rightly suspect that the better one understands these laws concerning animal
offerings, the better one will understand praise and worship! And how was it that David
learned the importance of songs and musical instruments? We will now visit evidence which
shows this was revealed to him (and to other prophets!) directly from hwhy. The following
texts will show how David could write those inspired lines from Psalms 51 and 69; we will
see the story behind the story, and it all serves to show us how greatly the Most High values
our praises. The first segment of Scripture surrounds the time the ark of Elohim was brought
up:
1 And they brought in the ark of Elohim, and set it in the midst of the tent that David had
pitched for it: and they offered burnt-offerings and peace-offerings before Elohim. 2 And
when David had made an end of offering the burnt-offering and the peace-offerings, he
blessed the people in the Name of hwhy.122 3 And he dealt to every one of Yisrael, both man
and woman, to every one a loaf of bread, and a portion of flesh, and a cake of raisins.

120
See the Companion Bible notes on Psalm 86:3,12, along with Appendix 32 (pg. 31). This is one of the 134 places
where the sopherim (scribes) admitted to changing the Qadosh Name of hwhy into the Hebrew substitute “Adonai.” But
doing so was, and still remains, a violation of the Torah and the word of the Messiah. Deuteronomy 4:2, 12:32, Proverbs
30:5-6, Matthew 5:17-20, Revelation 22:18-19
121
Compare 2Chronicles 29:27-28.
122
King David had no aversion to speaking the Name of hwhy.
21
4 And he appointed certain of the Levites to minister before the ark of hwhy, and to celebrate
and to thank and praise hwhy, the Elohim of Yisrael: 5 Asaph the chief, and second to him
Zechariah, Jeiel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehiel, and Mattithiah, and Eliab, and Benaiah, and
Obed-edom, and Jeiel, with psalteries and with harps; and Asaph with cymbals, sounding
aloud … 37 So he left there, before the ark of the covenant of hwhy, Asaph and his brothers,
to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required; 38 and Obed-edom with
their brothers, sixty-eight; Obed-edom, also the son of Jeduthun, and Hosah to be
doorkeepers; 39 and Zadok the priest, and his brothers the priests, before the tabernacle of
hwhy in the high place that was at Gibeon, 40 to offer burnt-offerings to hwhy upon the altar
of burnt-offering continually morning and evening, even according to all that is written in the
Torah of hwhy, which he commanded to Yisrael; 41 and with them Heman and Jeduthun, and
the rest that were chosen, who were mentioned by name, to give thanks to hwhy, because his
lovingkindness endures for ever; 42 and with them Heman and Jeduthun with trumpets and
cymbals for those that should sound aloud, and with instruments for the songs of Elohim; and
the sons of Jeduthun to be at the gate. 1Chronicles 16:1-5, 37-42
We also learn that David made many of these instruments which Yisrael used in their praises
to hwhy:
Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised
hwhy with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.
1Chronicles 23:5
And the priests waited on their offices: the Levites also with instruments
of music of hwhy, which David the king had made to praise hwhy,
because His chesed/kindness endures for ever,
2Chronicles 7:6123
Amazingly, we are later informed that the incorporation of these instruments of praise were
commanded by hwhy and that this commandment actually came by the mouth of three
prophets: David, the King of Yisrael, Gad the seer, and Nathan the prophet!
25 And he set the Levites in the House of hwhy with cymbals, with psalteries, and with harps,
according to the commandment of David, and of Gad the king’s seer, and Nathan the
prophet: for so was the commandment of hwhy by his prophets. 26 And the Levites stood with
the instruments of David, and the priests with the trumpets. 27 And Hezekiah commanded to
offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of hwhy
began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Yisrael. 28
And all the congregation worshipped, and the singers sang, and the trumpeters sounded: all
until the burnt offering was finished. 29 And when they had made an end of offering, the king
and all that were present with him bowed themselves, and worshipped. 2Chronicles 29:25-29
These instruments of praise—being inspired by hwhy Himself—take us back to Psalm 63 and
the work of the Spirit in the lives of His prophets: The praises due the great Name of hwhy
are always a part of the True Worship in which His prophets continually walk.
As a final note, at least some of the instruments of music made by David were still available
and were being used for worship even after the 70-year Babylonian captivity.124 This would
have been some 460 years after David had made them.125

Nehemiah 12:36
22
♦ The son of David was a prophetic type of the Messiah, and he also offered many songs of
praise to the Name of hwhy. We read of Shelomo/Solomon’s wisdom for songs in the book of
First Kings:
30 And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children
of the east country, and all the wisdom of Egypt. 31 For he was wiser
than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite,126 and Heman,127 and Chalcol, and Darda,
the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about. 32 And he spoke
three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.
1Kings 4:30-32
At least initially (before he fell away into false worship128), Solomon’s work brought much
honor and acclaim for the Name of hwhy.129 Of his 1,005 songs, we have to believe that there
were many which set forth the greatness and splendor which are due the Name of hwhy. At
least three of these songs appear in the Scriptures:
• Psalm 72 and Psalm 127
• Shir ha’Shirim, or The Song of Songs, the song which is set apart as an entire book, just
after Proverbs in English versions of the Scriptures.
We now move on to three of David and Solomon’s contemporaries.
♦ Often overlooked when studying the praises of hwhy are the prophets Asaph, Yeduthun
(Ethan130), Heman, and their families. These men and their children prophesied on stringed
instruments and set forth praises to the Name of hwhy both before and after His House was
built:
1 Moreover David and the captains of the host set apart for the service certain of the sons of
Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with harps, with psalteries, and
with cymbals: and the number of them that did the work according to their service was: 2 Of
the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, and Yoseph, and Nethanyah, and Asharelah, the sons of Asaph,
under the hand of Asaph, who prophesied after the order of the king. 3 Of Jeduthun, the sons
of Jeduthun: Gedalyah, and Zeri, and Yeshayah, Hashabyah, and Mattithyah, six, under the
hands of their father Jeduthun with the harp, who prophesied in giving thanks and praising
hwhy. 4 Of Heman, the sons of Heman: Bukkyah, Mattanyah, Uzziel, Shebuel, and Jerimoth,
Hananyah, Hanani, Eliathah, Giddalti, and Romamti-ezer, Yoshbekashah, Mallothi, Hothir,
Mahazioth. 5 All these were the sons of Heman the king’s seer in the words of Elohim, to lift
up the horn. And Elohim gave to Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.
6 All these were under the hands of their father for song in the House of hwhy, with cymbals,
psalteries, and harps, for the service of the House of Elohim; Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman
being under the order of the king. 7 And the number of them, with their brothers that were
instructed in singing to hwhy, even all that were skillful, was two hundred eighty-eight.
1Chronicles 25:1-7
125
And if any would argue that these instruments could not have lasted for such a long time, then we can at least say that
they were like the ones David made and set forth for the worship of hwhy. However, it is not unreasonable that some of
these instruments may have lasted across this five-century time span.

See the Companion Bible notes on Psalm 89 (Ethan) and Psalm 88 (Heman), where Bullinger puts forth that
Jeduthun/Yeduthun is another name for “Ethan the Ezrahite.”
23
Each of these men have the following psalms/songs attributed to their ministry-service:131
• Asaph wrote twelve songs: Psalm 50 and Psalms 73 - 83
• Yeduthun (Jeduthun), or Ethan, wrote one song: Psalm 89
• Heman wrote one song: Psalm 88
Next, we see the prophet Isaiah was also one who worshipped hwhy through songs of praise.
♦ The prophet Isaiah was also one who set forth/taught the great praises of hwhy in song; he
sang of the love of hwhy for Yisrael, His Vine:
Now I will sing to my well-beloved a song
of my beloved concerning His vineyard.
Isaiah 5:1
And Isaiah would later write of a time when the great praises of hwhy would be known
throughout all the earth:
1 And in that day you will say, hwhy, I will praise You; for though You
were angry with me, Your anger is turned away, and You have comforted me.
2 Behold, El is my salvation: I will trust, and not be afraid; for Yah, hwhy,
is my strength and song, and He has become my salvation.3 And with joy you
shall draw water out of the wells of salvation. 4 And in that day you will say,
Give thanks to hwhy, call upon His Name, declare His deeds among the peoples,
make mention that His Name is exalted. 5 Sing psalms of hwhy, for He has done
excellent things: let this be known in all the earth. 6 Cry aloud and shout for joy,
inhabitress of Tziyon; for great in your midst is the Qadosh One of Yisrael.
Isaiah 12:1-6
Isaiah also exulted in the praises of hwhy over all His lovingkindness to the House of Yisrael:
Let me recount the kindnesses of hwhy and the praises of hwhy,
according to all that hwhy has done for us, and the great goodness toward
the house of Yisrael, which He has done for them according to His compassion,
and according to His many kindnesses.
Isaiah 63:7, ISRV
♦ The prophet Yirmeyahu/Jeremiah also declared that hwhy was his praise:
Heal me, hwhy, and I shall be healed; save me,
and I will be saved: for You are my praise.
Jeremiah 17:14
And while the prophet’s latter words first appeared in a book which we now know as
“Lamentations,”132 there are a number of lines in this book of judgment and prophecy where
Yirmeyahu shows forth the praises of hwhy, even in the midst of Elohim administering
judgment and punishment upon Yisrael. Many will be familiar with the lines we now cite,

131
Of course, it is quite likely these men had many more songs, but we are only able to list those which have been
attributed to them by name. Since many psalms have no name/author attached to them, it is quite possible other songs
composed by these men have been included among the 150 Psalms.
132
The title of this book in the Hebrew Tanak is “Eykah” meaning, “alas.”
24
and many will recognize that, over the past 200 years, a number of songs have been based on
these words of praise from Jeremiah:
21 This I consider towards my heart, upon thus, I wait:
22 The kindnesses of hwhy, for we are not consumed, for not ending
are His compassions. 23 They are new every morning: Great is Your faithfulness.
24 My portion is hwhy, says my nephesh; upon thus, I will wait for Him. 25 hwhy is good
to those that wait for Him, to the nephesh that seeks Him. 26 It is good that
one should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of hwhy.
Lamentations 3:21-26
♦ We see the prophet Daniel blessing the Name of hwhy, offering praise and gratitude for His
deliverance through a spirit of revelation over the king’s dream:
17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Chananyah,
Mishael, and Azaryah, his companions: 18 that they would desire kindnesses of
the Elah of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his companions should not
perish with the rest of the wise men of Babel. 19 Then was the secret revealed to Daniel in a
vision of the night. Then Daniel blessed the Elah of heaven. 20 Daniel answered and said,
Blessed be the Name of Elah for ever and ever; for wisdom and might are His.
21 And He changes the times and the seasons: He removes kings and sets up kings;
He gives wisdom to the wise, and knowledge to those that have understanding.
22 He reveal the deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness,
and the light dwells with Him. 23 I thank You, and praise You, Elah of
my fathers, who has given me wisdom and might, and has now made
known to me what we desired of You; for You have made
known to us the king’s matter.

♦ The prophet Habakkuk wrote a prophetic song by the title, “A Prayer of Habakkuk, the
Prophet, Set to Shigionot.”133 If one studies the form of this prophetic song,134 it will be seen
that its superscription/title135 and subscription136 follow the very same pattern as many of the
psalms.137 This prayer is also a song of worship which declares the greatness of hwhy. And
this prayer of Habakkuk even includes the word “Selah”138—a Hebrew word which is also
seen in many of the Tehillim/Psalms.139 While the entire song is filled with the awe of hwhy,
we provide three verses which show the mouth of Habakkuk was filled with His praises:
17 For though the fig tree shall not flourish, neither shall fruit be in the vines;
the labor of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no food; the flock shall
be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls: 18 Yet I will rejoice

“Selah” appears in 71 times in 39 different psalms/locations. Some of these are: Psalm 3:2,4,8; 9:16,20; 20:3;
24:6,10; 32:4,5,7; 46:3,7,11; 48:8, 62:4,8; 66:4,7,15; 77:3,9,15; 81:7; 83:8; 89:4,37,45,48; 140:3,5,8, 143:6.

in hwhy, 140 I will joy in the Elohim of my salvation. 19 hwhy, the Sovereign,
is my strength; and He makes my feet like hinds' feet, and will
make me to walk upon my high places.
Habakkuk 3:17-19
So we have in Habakkuk yet another prophet whose heart was set on praising the Name of the
Most High through songs of reverent worship, awe, and thanksgiving.
♦ The Messiah was the prophet like Mosheh,141 and His heart was also filled with praises for
hwhy; these praises set forth the honor due the Father’s Great Name. Great honor is due the
Name of hwhy,142 and eswhy taught us to set forth and inquire for this honor during times of
prayer:
This, then, is the way you should pray:
Our Father who is in the heavens, let Your Name be set-apart …
Mathew 6:9, ISRV
At other times, eswhy was moved to offer praise to hwhy in heaven through a response of
thanksgiving:
20 Notwithstanding, in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject to you;
but rather, rejoice because your names are written in heaven. 21 In that hour
eswhy rejoiced in spirit, and said, “I thank You, Father, Sovereign of heaven and earth,
that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent, and have revealed
them to infants: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in Your sight.”
Luke 10:20-21
We learn that, through the praise the Messiah offered to the Father during times of worship,
He showed forth the greatness of the Name of hwhy to His chosen ones. We read of this in
the book of Hebrews:
11 For both He that sets apart and those are set apart are all of one;
for which cause He is not ashamed to call them brothers, 12 saying,
“I will declare Your Name to my brothers: in the midst
of the assembly I will sing Your praises.”
Hebrews 2:11-12
And eswhy Himself spoke (in prayer) of having done this:
6 I have manifested Your Name to the men whom You gave Me
out of the world. They were Yours, and You gave them to Me, and they
have kept Your word … 12 When I was with them I kept them in Your Name …
26 And I have made known to them Your Name …
John 17:6,12,26
We are not saying it was only during times of worship that the Messiah manifested the Name
of hwhy to His followers; but this was certainly an important part of the continual revelation
which eswhy gave of the Father’s Name; and His having done this in such a significant and
specific manner is an aspect of the Savior’s ministry that is easily overlooked by a superficial

approach to the topic. Like all the authentic prophets before Him, the Messiah—the Prophet
like Mosheh143—proclaimed the Name of hwhy 144 through song, praise, and worship.
♦ The first century emissaries also wrote of and lived in the praises of hwhy. Not many days
after the ascension of the Messiah, it is recorded that the first believers were daily in the
temple, praising Elohim:
And they continued daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread
from house to house, eating their food with gladness and singleness of heart,
praising Elohim and having favor with all the people. And the Sovereign
added to the assembly daily those who were being saved.
Acts 2:46-47
After both Sha’ul and Silas were stripped, beaten with a whip,145 and thrown into prison, we
see these men praying and singing praises to hwhy at midnight:
22 And the multitude rose up together against them; and the magistrates
rent off their clothes and commanded to beat them. 23 And when they had
laid many stripes upon them, they cast them into prison charging the jailor to
keep them safely, 24 who, having received such a charge, thrust them into the
inner prison, a made their feet fast in the stocks. 25 And at midnight, Sha’ul
and Silas prayed and sang praises to Elohim: and the prisoners heard them.
Acts 16:22-25
These men knew the greatness of Elohim is above any situation. And through their lives of
praise and worship, hwhy brought salvation to others during this time of temporary
tribulation. And in the letters of Sha’ul, we read him sounding forth the praises of hwhy
many, many times:
33 O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of Elohim!
How unsearchable are His judgments, and His ways past finding out!
34 For who has known the mind of hwhy? Or who has been His counselor?
35 Or who has first given to Him, and it shall be recompensed to him again?
36 For from Him, and by Him, and to Him are all things:
to whom be splendor to the ages, amein.

1Timothy 1:17146
That Sha’ul would set forth the praises of hwhy so frequently in his writings also shows us
that praise was the continual overflow of this man’s thankful, reverent heart.147 And so we
have no doubt this emissary continually offered up songs of praise which magnified the
Creator and Redeemer of Yisrael:
Through Him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise
to Elohim continually, that is, the fruit of lips,148
giving thanks to His Name.
Hebrews 13:15
Loving the Name of hwhy
If Isaiah wrote of strangers loving the Name of hwhy, would Israelites and His prophets
not also have/show/express the same great love for His Memorial Name?
Also the foreigners that join themselves to hwhy, to minister to Him,
and to love the Name of hwhy, to be His servants, every one that keeps
the Shabbat from profaning it, and holds fast My covenant …
Isaiah 56:6
If engrafted Gentiles historically expressed their love for His great Name,149 we also expect to
see this same love in all of His prophets. If readers have been paying attention, we have
actually already seen considerable evidence that the prophets expressed this love in their
lifetimes; they expressed this love for His Name in songs, and they expressed this love by
speaking in His Name to teach/remind Yisrael of His age-abiding Torah—the Name of hwhy
being somewhat like His Signature/Seal on all that He has said.
♦ Mosheh saw the splendor of the Name of hwhy, and so he was also empowered to proclaim
His Qadosh Name in many ways:
3 For I will proclaim the Name of hwhy:150
Ascribe greatness to our Elohim. 4 The Rock! His work is perfect,
for all His ways are justice: An Elohim of faithfulness and
without iniquity, righteous and upright is He!
Deuteronomy 32:3-4
♦ David clearly loved the Name of hwhy and he wrote many songs which exhorted all Yisrael
to speak, sing, and proclaim the Name of hwhy in all the earth: The Most High wants the
nations to know His Name and its greatness,151 and that has always been, and will always be,
the mission of the nation of Yisrael.152

Name of hwhy; this “Yah” is the same short form which appears in the word of praise, “Hallelu-Yah.”

up above those that rise up against me: You have delivered me from the violent
man. 49 Therefore I will give thanks to You, hwhy, among the nations, and sing
praises to Your Name. 50 Great deliverance He gives to His king; and shows
chesed/kindness to His anointed, to David, and to his seed for evermore.
Psalm 18:46-50
9 All nations whom You have made shall come and worship
before You, hwhy, and will magnify Your Name.
Psalm 86:9 153
David further spoke of the many blessings which would be bestowed on those who possess
love for the Name of hwhy:
For You, Elohim, have heard my vows; You have given me
the inheritance of those that reverence Your Name.
Psalm 61:5
35 For Elohim will save Tziyon, and will build the cities of Yahudah;
and they will dwell there, and possess it: 36 And the seed of His servants
will inherit it, and they that love His Name will dwell in it.
Psalm 69:35-36
♦ Shelomo/Solomon loved hwhy and His Name; so much so that his efforts to make known
the greatness of Elohim brought acclaim to the Qadosh Name throughout the inhabited
earth.154 Not only so, the words of Shelomo show us the fear/reverence of hwhy was the
beginning/key of knowledge:
The reverence of hwhy is the beginning of knowledge:
Fools despise wisdom and instruction.
Proverbs 1:7
♦ Yirmeyahu loved the Name of hwhy, and he spoke of having the Name of hwhy called upon
him; and the prophet’s words (which were really a prayer) teach us the relationship between
honoring the Name of hwhy and loving/proclaiming His Word:
Your words were found and I ate them. And Your
word came to be for me the joy and rejoicing of my heart.
For Your Name is called upon me, hwhy , Elohim of hosts.
Jeremiah 15:16
♦ eswhy the Messiah held forth the important of reverencing the Name of hwhy for all those
who would partake in the heavenly calling of the Melchi-tzedek Priesthood:155
9 Thus, therefore, you pray: Our Father, who is in the heavens,
Your Name be set apart. 10 Your Kingdom come, Your
will be done, in heaven and upon the earth.

have kept Your word … 26 And I have made known to them Your Name …
John 17:6,26
And, like Solomon, eswhy the Messiah would later indicate reverencing the Father’s Name,
hwhy, is “the key of knowledge:”
Woe to you, lawyers! For you have taken away
the key of knowledge: You did not enter in yourselves,
and those that were entering in, you hindered.
Luke 11:52
But what key had been removed by those who handled the Law? We see in this Scripture
eswhy rebuking the misdirected Jewish tradition of not uttering the Name, a tradition that has
no basis in the Torah. For the Torah clearly indicates we are to praise His Name,156
declare/proclaim His Name,157 to bless His Name,158 to bless others in His Name,159 and yes,
to even swear in His Name.160 It is simply impossible to fulfill/obey these Scriptures apart
from verbalizing the Qadosh Name. Further, in the vision of Revelation, the Messiah
indicated He now possesses the “Key of David:”
And to the messenger of the assembly in Philadelphia write:
“These things says He that is qadosh, He that is true, He that
has the key of David, He that opens, and no man
shuts; and shuts, and no man opens” …
Revelation 3:7/Isaiah 22:22
This Key of David is nothing less than the key of knowledge: Both phrases refer to the
reverence of the Name of hwhy. In the case of the phrase “the Key of David,” we have an
expression which connotes reverence for the Name; and the Messiah uttered this phrase in
honor of King David—the prophet who showed us the secret of hwhy, His intimate counsel, is
for those who fear/reverence His Qadosh Name:
The secret of hwhy is for those who fear Him,
and He will make them know His covenant.
Psalm 25:14
It is only through reverence for the Name of hwhy that the Messiah will open to us a door of
vision and prophecy in the heavens.161 And even today, in the Spanish language, “llave”
(pronounced “yah-veh”) means “key.”162 While we do not regard “yahveh” to be the original
pronunciation of the Name of hwhy, the meaning and pronunciation of this Spanish word
certainly adds a considerable bit of historical evidence to what the Scriptures already teach
us:

Not long ago, I had the opportunity to assist and converse with the Hispanic man who was doing maintenance work on
our bathroom sink. To be removed/adjusted, the knobs on the sink required a hexagon wrench—what many Americans
will call an “allen wrench,” but using the Spanish language, this man called it “llave allen”—an allen key.
30
Reverencing the Qadosh Name of hwhy
is the Key of Knowledge.
To those who minds are filled with awe for His Name and greatness, that reverence is a key
which opens the door to those riches of wisdom and knowledge which are hidden in the
Messiah.163 This explains why believers who honor His Name are also granted a fuller
insight into His Word and ways through the Spirit of the Most High.164 It is just as hwhy said
to Eli, the priest:
… for those that honor Me, I will honor,
and they that despise Me will be lightly esteemed.
1Samuel 2:30
In the spirit realm, the Name cannot be separated from the Being, nor can the Being be
separated from the Name. Hence, there is a clear connection between honoring hwhy and
holding forth His Name with reverence and honor. This is revealed and confirmed as we
ponder the misparim of the Name of hwhy. The misparim, or number value,165 of the
Creator’s Name is 26, and this figure is derived as follows:
← ← ←
26 = (5) h + (6) w + (5) h + (10) y = hwhy = YHWH, the Memorial Name
Yet, to our amazement, the misparim for the word “honor” is precisely the same:
← ← ←
26 = (4) d + (2) b + (20) k = dbk = ca-beyd = honor
It is not some mere coincidence, some literary happenstance, that the misparim for the Name
of hwhy and the misparim for the word “honor” are one and the same. This has been done by
Design. And it all provides us with yet more evidence the Spirit of the Most High breathed
forth His inspired Word: This Hebrew word for “honor” (dbk, ca-beyd) is the very same
Hebrew word used by hwhy when He first spoke that most powerful statement to Eli, the
priest:
… for those that honor (dbk ) Me, I will honor (dbk ),
and they that despise Me will be lightly esteemed.
1Samuel 2:30
Ruach ha’Qodesh166 thus indicating that those who fail to honor His Name are, from the
outset, failing to honor hwhy in the manner He desires. And more than anyone else, those
priests who despise His Name will be the most severely judged by hwhy.167 Those who set
themselves forth as shepherds and leaders of the people, while failing to honor His Name, are
only leading the sheep into anti-Torah lawlessness. And so, the Messiah rebuked the

165
Misparim is the transliteration of the Hebrew word meaning “numbers” (plural). Thus, some might prefer us to speak
of the mispar (number) of the Name. We addressed this in a much earlier study in this series, indicating that the number
of the Name (26) is obtained from the sum of its four numbers: 10 + 5 + 6 + 5. Hence, we refer to 26 as the misparim of
hwhy because the number 26 was derived from a plurality of four numbers. In our best attempt to honor the One who
called Himself “the Elohim of the Hebrews” we have selected the term misparim to replace the Greek word “gematria.”
At the same time, we do not fault anyone who still chooses to use the more popular and widely-used, Greek term.

shepherds of His day whose false traditions and disobedience had taken away/hidden the Key

Satisfied as With Marrow and Fatness: The Prophets are Fed by hwhy
The mouths of the prophets have always been “satisfied as with marrow and fatness:” The
prophets have always been fed by the intervention and sovereignty of hwhy who loves them.
We will momentarily visit many of those prophets and many of those occasions.
For 40 years, Yisrael was continually fed by hwhy in the wilderness. And during his days of
leanness in the wilderness, as he fled from King Sha’ul, not only was food provided for David
by Abigail,170 but he and his men were also fed by Ahimelech, the priest of hwhy.171
A heavenly messenger gave food to Eliyahu. In prison, Jeremiah daily received a portion of
bread from Zedekiah:172
Then Zedekiah the king commanded that they should commit Jeremiah
into the court of the prison, and that they should give him daily a piece of
bread out of the bakers’ street, until all the bread in the city were spent.
Thus Jeremiah remained in the court of the prison.
Jeremiah 37:21
Both Daniel and eswhy the Messiah were fed by heavenly messengers173 when their strength
was gone.174 We believe Mosheh was also fed/sustained/strengthened by heavenly
messengers in the same manner during his two, forty-day periods of fasting: For 80 days he
ate no food and drank no water,175 and this supernatural sustaining further explains the words
of Stephen:
… who have received the Torah as ordained by
the ministry of angels, and have not kept it .
Acts 7:53
The Torah was ministered by angels since they sustained Mosheh with an infusion of spiritual
strength which transmuted into physical sustenance, even apart from his eating or drinking in
the literal, physical sense across this eighty-day period..
My Mouth Shall Praise You With Joyful Lips
We have already seen much evidence surrounding the joyous praise which comes forth
from the mouths of the prophets: We have the Song of Mosheh,176 the many songs/psalms of

David, a song of Isaiah,177 and Solomon wrote 1,005 songs—including the Song of Songs.178
Directly citing the Torah,179 Jeremiah spoke of hwhy being his praise.180 But he was not just
“quoting Scripture”—the prophet’s love for hwhy was authentic and so was his praise. The
Prayer of Habakkuk 181 and the Song of Hezekiah 182 not only show us the general pattern of
those Hebrew songs which were written in Yisrael in the days of old, but they also indicate
the hearts of men who desired to lift personal praise and gratitude to the Most High. So many
of the psalms speak of the joyful praise we have in hwhy, given His unspeakable greatness
and His love to the House of Yisrael:
I will give thanks to hwhy with my whole heart;
I will show forth all Your marvelous works. 2 I will be glad and
exult in You; I will sing praise to Your Name, Most High.

Let them also that love Your Name be joyful in You.
Psalm 5:11
Only those who know the reality of His Presence will know the fullness of joy that comes

Remembering and Seeking hwhy in the Night
Psalm 63:6 mentions remembering hwhy in the night and meditating on Him in the night
watches: This is not only part of what occurs if we are joyful in Him, it is also part of seeking
hwhy early/earnestly/at all seasons. The prophet Elihu wrote of hwhy giving songs in the
night, and his words imply Eloah is pleased to do this in the lives of those who truly seek
Him:
But none says, “Where is Eloah, my Maker,
who gives songs in the night.
Job 35:10
As pointed out in a previous study, the answer to Elihu’s question, “Where is Eloah?” is
found in the question itself! In Hebrew, this phrase/question is two words, and it looks like
this:

If one removes the last two letters from each of the above words, and then combines the four

The Qadosh Memorial Name: YHWH
Ultimately, it is only those who seek the Name of hwhy who also seek and find the Most

question, “Where is Eloah?” is also found in the words of the prophet Micah:
The voice of hwhy calls to the city,
and one of wisdom will see Your Name …
Micah 6:9
Those who are seeking hwhy with the intent to find, must seek His Name:

with Him. 26 And He said, Let me go, for the dawn is ascending. And he said, I will
not let You go unless You bless me. 27 And He said to him, What is your name? And
he said, Ya’acob. 28 And He said, Your name will no longer be called Ya’acob,

It is a good thing to give thanks to hwhy, and to sing praises to
Your Name, Most High: 2 To show forth Your lovingkindness
in the morning, and Your faithfulness in the night.
Psalm 92:1-2
David likewise spoke of the song of Elohim being with him in the night:

Psalm 24:6
186
Psalm 92 is titled “A Psalm, A Song for the Shabbat Day.”
34
hwhy will command His lovingkindness in the daytime;
and in the night His song shall be with me,
a prayer to the El of my life.
Psalm 42:8
So in the Psalms, we see there is considerable attention given to seeking hwhy in the night187
and that songs of worship are certainly part of this earnest searching.
We would be amiss to close this section without contemplating that there were times in
which our Mashiach (and His emissaries) sought the Face of hwhy in the night:
12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out to a mountain to pray,
and continued all night in prayer to Elohim. 13 And when it was day, He called
His taught ones: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named emissaries.
Luke 6:12-13
And Sha’ul spoke of frequently watching in prayer:
… in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labors,
in watchings, in fastings … 2Corinthians 6:5 … in labor and travail,
in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness …
2Corinthians 11:27
While He ministered on the earth, eSwhy taught His followers to watch and pray;188 yet He
spoke no differently after ascending into the heavens and sitting at the Right Hand of Power;
and His words tell us that watching in prayer is an all-important aspect of overcoming:
1 And to the messenger of the assembly in Sardis write: These things says
He that has the Seven Spirits of Elohim, and the seven stars: I know your works,
that you have a name that you live, but are dead. 2 Be watchful, and strengthen
the things that remain, which are about to die, for I have not found your works
complete before My Elohim. 3 Remember therefore how you have received and
heard, and keep it and repent. If therefore you will not watch, I will come as
a thief, and you will not know at what hour I shall come upon you.
Revelation 3:1-3

Prophets Find Their Refuge in hwhy
Ultimately, there is no refuge at any time, or in any place, apart from the refuge which can
be found by abiding in the Presence of hwhy. The prophet Mosheh spoke of the refuge which
Yisrael had in hwhy:
A habitation is the Elohim of antiquity, and underneath
are the everlasting arms. And He casts out the enemy
from before you, and says, Destroy!
Deuteronomy 33:27

35
David not only wrote of this refuge in Tehillah/Psalm 63, he also spoke of it in Tehillah 46:
Elohim is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth changes, and though the mountains
are shaken into the heart of the seas; 3 though the waters thereof roar and
be troubled, though the mountains tremble with the swelling thereof. Selah.
… 7 hwhy of hosts is with us: The Elohim of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
… 11 hwhy of hosts is with us; The Elohim of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
Psalm 46:1-3,7,11
And Isaiah also taught the Presence of hwhy is our Sanctuary and Refuge:
11 For hwhy spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me
not to walk in the way of this people, saying,12 Do not say, “A conspiracy,”
concerning all whereof this people shall say, “A conspiracy,” you shall not fear
their fear, nor be in dread. 13 hwhy of hosts, Him shall you set apart; and let
Him be your Fear,189 and let Him be your Dread. 14 And He shall be for a
Set Apart Place; but for a Stone of stumbling and for a Rock of offence
to both the houses of Yisrael, for a trap and for a snare
to the inhabitants of Yerushalayim.
Isaiah 8:11-14
hwhy Himself being a Set Apart Place—a Refuge for His people—ties in with the Word
which would later be spoken, again through Isaiah:
20 Come, My people, enter into your chambers, and shut your doors
about you: Hide yourself for a little moment, until the indignation passes over.
21 For, behold, hwhy comes forth out of His place to punish the inhabitants
of the earth for their iniquity: The earth also shall disclose her blood,
and shall no more cover her slain.
Isaiah 26:20-21
The prophet Tzephanyah/Zephaniah also spoke of finding refuge in the Presence of the Most
High:
Seek hwhy, all you meek of the earth, that have kept His ordinances:
Seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be you will be
hidden in the day of the anger of hwhy.
Zephaniah 2:3
This refuge may only be known by dwelling, through prayer, in the secret place of the Most
High, the secret place referred to by the psalmist and by our Messiah.190 We give thanks and
praise to hwhy that He has been our dwelling place in all generations:191 May all of His
children continue to make His Presence their place of refuge.

♦ Psalm 63:8 ♦
8 My soul follows hard after You: Your right hand upholds me.
The Prophets Follow Hard After hwhy
David followed after hwhy with all his heart;192 he cleaved to Elohim; and that is the literal
interpretation of the first part of Psalm 63:8,
My being (naphshi) cleaves (hqbd) after You (Kyrxa) …
Psalm 63:8
Instead of using the word “cleaves” (hqbd), many translations incorporate the older meaning
for the word “hard:” “Close in time and space.”193 The prophet Jeremiah also followed
hard/closely after hwhy:
But as for me, I have not run away from being
a shepherd following after You (Kyrxa) …
Jeremiah 17:16
Amazingly, we see the very same Hebrew word/word form (Kyrxa) is used in both of these
texts: Jeremiah was saying the same thing as King David; both men were prophets who
followed closely after hwhy; they both clung to the Most High. The Messiah not only spoke
of His followers being prophets,194 He also directed them to follow hard after hwhy:
But you, seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness,
and all these things will be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33
And the words of Sha’ul indicate he took these teachings very seriously: He followed hard
after the righteousness of Elohim, the righteousness that is only imparted in/through eswhy
the Messiah:
7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for the Messiah. 8 Yes doubtless, and
I count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of the Messiah eswhy my
Sovereign: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them as dung, that I
may win the Messiah, 9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is
based on the Torah, but that which is through the faith of the Messiah, the righteousness
which is from Elohim by faith: 10 that I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection,
and the fellowship of His sufferings, being made conformable to His death;11 if by any means
I may attain to the out-resurrection from the dead. 12 Not as though I had already attained,
either were already perfect: but I pursue, if that I may apprehend that for which I was also
apprehended by the Messiah eswhy. 13 Brothers, I do not count myself to have apprehended,
but one thing I do: Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forward to those
things which are before, 14 I press towards the mark for the prize of the high calling of
Elohim in the Messiah eswhy. Philippians 3:7-14
In another place, this prophet and emissary wrote of how he toiled for the Kingdom, writing
that he “labored more than all the rest:”
9 For I am the least of the emissaries, that am not fit to be called
an emissary, because I persecuted the assembly of Elohim.10 But by

Prophets cleave to hwhy: They continually draw near to His Presence;195 they abide under the
shadow of His wings;196 they dwell in His “secret place”197 of power, omniscience, and
sovereignty; and they follow after His righteousness.
Upheld by the Right Hand of hwhy: Messengers Sent from His Presence
Messengers have been sent from the Right Hand of hwhy to assist/strengthen those
prophets who sought Him with fasting and prayer.198 But there are other times that we see
messengers ministering His Word,199 and upholding those who believe in the Most High
Elohim. When Lot and his family were to be delivered from Sodom and Gomorrah, a
heavenly messenger blinded the sexual reprobates whose determination had been set on
abusing and murdering Lot.200 Eliyahu was fed by a messenger and the food gave him
strength to travel forty days to Mount Horeb.201 When the armies of the Syrians drew near,
the servant of Elisha felt he and his master were surely outnumbered: But the host of
heavenly messengers blinded the entire army so that the prophet prevailed over multitudes.202
Daniel was thrown into a den of lions, but a messenger prevented the animals from devouring
the prophet.203 The prophetess Miriam, the mother of eSwhy, was upheld/honored for her
upright life: The messenger Gabriel was sent from the Presence of hwhy to inform her of
having been chosen to bring forth the Messiah.204 Intending to execute Kepha, Herod
imprisoned the emissary, but a messenger delivered him from the sentence: His chains were
broken, Kepha came forth into freedom, and the wicked king was soon judged for pride and
was smitten unto death by a heavenly messenger.205 When the ship on which he sailed was
endangered in a severe storm, a messenger was sent to Sha’ul to assure him none of the lives
of those on board would be lost. Being a prophet, Sha’ul spoke this word of assurance to all
on board, and it came to pass just as he had said.206

The Certainty of Hardship Upon the Prophets
Hunger and thirst for hwhy will always bring opposition from the forces of darkness that
would undermine the Kingdom of Light: Possessing such hunger and thirst, the people of the
Most High will not fit in to the standard fare of regular, worldly affairs: Prophets will often

be unconventional, misunderstood, and largely unappreciated.207 This is an unavoidable part
of the territory, and yet it is still a small price to pay in exchange for having the Presence and
power of hwhy through the Spirit He gives us; and it is a small price to pay for having the
privilege and honor of bringing the Good News of salvation to those few who will ultimately
have ears to hear. Sha’ul endured much hardship,208 and he exhorted Timothy to do likewise:
3 You, therefore, endure hardship, as a good soldier of eSwhy the Messiah.
4 No man that wars entangles himself with the affairs of this life; that he may
please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. 5 And also, if a contends in
the games, he is not crowned, unless he contends lawfully. 2Timothy 2:3-5
And Kepha likewise indicated believers would suffer in the flesh:
1 Forasmuch then as the Messiah suffered in the flesh,
arm yourselves also with the same mind; for he that has suffered
in the flesh has ceased from sin;2 that you no longer should live
the rest of your time in the flesh to the lusts of men,
but to the will of Elohim.
1Peter 4:1-2
Persecuted by Those Who Desire Their Death
Of course, persecution is oftentimes a significant part of the suffering and hardship which
comes upon the prophets who speak in the Name of hwhy.209
• Mosheh. The prophet Mosheh was threatened with being stoned by those who continually
refused the message of hwhy and the Most High’s authority/leading in/through the prophet.210
It would later be recorded that Mosheh chose to endure “ill treatment with the people of
Elohim,” and he was certainly treated poorly by his Israeli brethren. Even his own family
was punished by hwhy for speaking against Mosheh.211
• Iyob/Job. During his time of trouble, the prophet Iyob endured the sufferings of the
Messiah: He was forsaken by his friends;212 he suffered physical infirmities;213 he was
mocked and spit upon;214 he was smitten on the cheeks;215 and he was mocked/scorned by
those who hated him.216
• David. David was persecuted/dishonored by King Sha’ul, by Nabal,217 by Shemei,218 and
even by his son Absalom.219 Of course, King Sha’ul was so set on murdering David,220 that
he committed many other atrocities in the process of carrying out his vain attempts.221

207
We do not speak here of those who are using their beliefs as an excuse to be abrasive and/or different. Doing that is
simply carnality dressed up to look like religion. Such things are not part of walking humbly with Elohim, nor do they
qualify, in any sense, as following the Messiah. Micah 6:8, Luke 14:11, 18:14

• Eliyahu. Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab, was intent on slaying Eliyahu because the true
prophet had slain the prophets of Ba-al at Mount Carmel.222 Ahab’s son, Ahaziah, would
later try to slay Eliyahu because the prophet had rebuked him for seeking a false god.223
• Isaiah. Reports are that the prophet Isaiah was sawn in two 224 by those who hated his
message—a message that not only upheld the Torah as immutable and age-abiding,225 but a
message that warned Yisrael (and the entire world 226) would be severely punished for
profaning the Shabbat and for violating the Torah. Over the centuries since Isaiah spoke,
Yisrael has suffered many terrible judgments, including various forms of captivity. And the
Day of hwhy will soon bring His worldwide wrath on all the disobedient nations and peoples
of the earth.
• Jeremiah. Persecuted by those who hated his prophecies,227 Yirmeyahu was thrown down
into a pit of miry clay, and left to die; but Ebed–melech, the Ethiopian, went forth to rescue
the prophet out of his affliction.228
• Zechariah. Zechariah was killed after he prophesied to Yisrael and spoke the Word of hwhy
in an effort to get them to turn back to Elohim.229
• eSwhy. Early in His ministry, an attempt was made to push eSwhy off a cliff.230 At other
times, like Mosheh,231 the Yahudim threatened to stone Him.232 In the end, our Messiah was
betrayed by Yahudah (Judas)233 and delivered into the hands of the corrupt Yisraeli
leadership.234 Although many false witnesses were used against Him, they could find nothing
over which to accuse Him; but after He spoke, the High Priest then leveled a false charge of
blasphemy.235 Somewhere in the process, eSwhy was blindfolded and then struck on the face,
but only so those around him could mock Him.236 The apostate leaders then handed eSwhy
over to the Gentiles 237 for a Gentile-based execution238 on a Roman cross/tree. But even this

commanded to do so by hwhy, 1Samuel 15:1-3,4-9,10-23]); he caused his daughter, Michal, to become an adulteress
(1Samuel 25:44); he bore false witness against David and against his son, Jonathan (1Samuel 22:7-8); and as he consulted
with a witch/sorceress (1Samuel 28:6-9), he took the Name of hwhy in vain (Exodus 20:7) by swearing in the Name of
hwhy that no evil would befall the woman (1Samuel 28:10), even though she was openly violating the Torah (Exodus

resulted in more abuse: In the chain of events that led to Golgotha, our Mashiach was beaten
and whipped,239 He was mocked, and He was even crowned with a crown of thorns.240 And
still more mocking and derision followed as He hung alive on the tree.241
• Sha’ul. In addition to his having been whipped by the Yahudim on five, separate occasions
(to the tune of 39 lashes for each of those five beatings),242 Sha’ul endured many other
hardships: He was falsely accused by charlatans;243 he was stoned and left for dead;244 he
was beaten with rods three times;245 and he suffered many other things as well.246
• Kepha. eSwhy prophesied that Kepha would die by impalement.247 While not completely
verifiable, the story has been handed down that Kepha told the executioners he was not
worthy to die in the same manner as his Sovereign, and so this emissary requested to be
impaled upside down.
Persecution will always be the result of loving the Name of hwhy; those who speak in His
Name truly represent Him, and they will encounter suffering, hardship, and persecution at the
hands of all nations in these Last Days.248
They Shall Fall by the Sword
The prophets of hwhy bear the Sword of hwhy. This Sword is not a physical one: it is the
Word of Elohim, the Sword of the Spirit, and by this Sword many of the disobedient have
been slain. In Hoshea, we see that the words of hwhy through the prophets hew/cut asunder
those who disobey His Voice:
4 Ephraim, what shall I do to you? Yahudah, what shall I do to you?
For your goodness is as a morning cloud, and as the early dew it goes away.
5 Therefore, I have hewn them by the prophets; I have slain them by the words of
My mouth: and your judgments are as the light that goes forth.
Hoshea 6:4-5
This Scripture shows the Word of hwhy through the mouth of the prophets is a Sword which
slays the disobedient: Sooner or later, His Sword will cut asunder those who rebel. And
many scriptural accounts clearly confirm this to be the case. Being extensions of His
authority in the earth, the prophets bear the Sword of hwhy:
• While through Mosheh, hwhy commanded the vengeance of the physical sword on Midian
and the false prophet, Bala’am,249 in still another case, that prophet’s spoken word resulted in

Matthew 27:35-36, Acts 2:23. eSwhy had long since prophesied He would be delivered into the hands of Gentile dogs
to be mocked, whipped, and impaled. Matthew 20:18-19, Mark 10:32-34 Those who insist that eSwhy was stoned to
death have overlooked the simple fact that the method of death was not determined by the Yahudim/Jews, but by the
Gentile dogs who had taken over carrying out the death sentence. His being delivered to the dogs was a fulfillment of
Psalm 22:16-18: The phrase, “For dogs have surrounded Me,” indicates the Gentile dogs would be in charge of His
execution; and indeed, they did surround Him, impale Him, and then cast lots for His garments. Psalm 22:16-18, Matthew

the earth opening up and swallowing those who had rebelled against hwhy.250 This Word of
hwhy through Mosheh was no less a sword than the one which slew Balaam.
• Yahushua/Joshua, son of Nun, openly warned that the one who rebuilt Yericho/Jericho

Chiel lost his firstborn son, Abiram, and his youngest son,

• The word of hwhy through a man of Elohim slew Eli and his apostate sons, Chophni and
Phinechas (Hophni and Phineas).253 And this word came to pass, just as it was spoken.254

sword of that wicked king had made many women childless.255
• As a warrior, David slew Goliath with the sword.256 Yet the Word of hwhy, given in the
Psalms by the prophet David, has slain far more257 who have disobeyed the voice of
Elohim.258
• We recall the prophet Eliyahu not only slew 450 prophets of Ba’al,259 via a literal sword,
but he also spoke and fire fell from heaven: This fire slew two companies of men who would
have killed him.260 The Word of hwhy is not only like a fire, it is also the Ultimate Sword.261
• In the Name of hwhy, Elisha would later curse those rebellious youths who mocked him;
moments later, two female bears came forth from the woods and slew or maimed forty-two of
the young rebels.262
• After Jeremiah spoke the word of hwhy to the false prophet, Chananyah, he died later that
year in the seventh month:
12 Then the word of hwhy came to Yirmeyahu, after that Chananyah the prophet had broken
the bar from off the neck of the prophet Yirmeyahu, saying, 13 Go, and tell Chananyah,
saying, Thus says hwhy: You have broken the bars of wood; but you have made in their place
bars of iron. 14 For thus says hwhy of hosts, the Elohim of Yisrael: I have put a yoke of iron
upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve Nebuchadrezzar, king of Babylon; and
they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also. 15 Then said the
prophet Yirmeyahu to Chananyah the prophet, Hear now, Chananyah: hwhy has not sent you;
but you make this people to trust in a lie. 16 Therefore, thus says hwhy, Behold, I will send
you away from off the face of the earth: This year you shall die, because you have spoken

I saw Jaazaniah, the son of Azur, and Pelatiah, the son of Benaiah, princes of the people. 2
Then He said to me, Son of man, these are the men that devise mischief, and give wicked
counsel in this city: 3 which say, “It is not near; let us build houses: this city is the caldron,
and we are the flesh.” 4 Therefore prophesy against them, prophesy, son of man. 5 And the
Spirit of hwhy fell upon me, and said to me, Speak! Thus says hwhy: Thus have you said, O
house of Yisrael: for I know the things that come into your mind, every one of them. 6 Ye have
multiplied your slain in this city, and you have filled the streets thereof with the slain. 7
Therefore thus says the Sovereign hwhy; Your slain whom you have laid in the midst of it,
they are the flesh, and this city is the caldron: but I will bring you forth out of the midst of it.
8 You have feared the sword; and I will bring a sword upon you, says the Sovereign hwhy. 9
And I will bring you out of the midst thereof, and deliver you into the hands of strangers, and
will execute judgments among you. 10 You shall fall by the sword; I will judge you in the
border of Yisrael; and you shall know that I am hwhy. 11 This city shall not be your caldron,
neither shall you be the flesh in the midst thereof; but I will judge you in the border of
Yisrael: 12 And you shall know that I am hwhy: for you have not walked in My statutes,
neither executed My judgments, but have done after the manners of the heathen that are
round about you. 13 And it came to pass, when I prophesied, that Pelatiah, the son of
Benaiah, died. Then fell I down upon my face, and cried with a loud voice, and said, Ah
Sovereign hwhy! Will You make a full end of the remnant of Yisrael? Ezekiel 11:1-13
• Are things now any different in the New Covenant? The age-abiding Word tells us hwhy
does not change.263 Some erroneously teach the death penalty for disobedience was
abolished by the Messiah, citing the case of the woman taken in adultery as their “proof” text.
Yet a closer look reveals quite the contrary:
2 And early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him;
and He sat down, and taught them. 3 And the scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman
taken in adultery; and having set her in the midst, 4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman
has been taken in adultery, in the very act. 5 Now in the law, Mosheh commanded us to stone
such: what then do you say of her?” 6 And this they said, trying Him, that they might have
whereof to accuse Him. But eSwhy stooped down, and with His finger wrote on the ground.
7 But when they continued asking Him, He lifted up Himself, and said to them, “He that is
without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.” 8 And again, He stooped down, and
with His finger wrote on the ground. 9 And they, when they heard it, went out one by one,
beginning from the eldest, even to the last: and eSwhy was left alone, and the woman, where
she was, in the midst. 10 And eSwhy lifted up Himself, and said to her, “Woman, where are
they? Did no man condemn you?” 11 And she said, “No man, Master.” And eSwhy said,
“Neither do I condemn you: go your way; from henceforth, sin no more.” John 8:2-11
On this side of the Judgment, we may never know what eSwhy was writing on the ground; but
this author has reason to believe it was the very Law of Mosheh which bore on the matter, the
very Law these men claimed to be enforcing/upholding. And what did the Torah say about

263
Malachi 3:6, Hebrews 13:8
43
the stoning of this woman? The Word of hwhy indicates both the man and the woman should
be put to death:
And the man that commits adultery with another man’s wife,
even he that commits adultery with his neighbor’s wife, the
adulterer and the adulteress shall surely be put to death.
Leviticus 20:10
The Torah required both the man and the woman to be executed! So where was the man?
Why did the scribes and the Pharisees bring only the woman? We suspect these men who
brought the woman were actually complicit in this scheme along with the man who
committed the actual adultery. They did not bring the man because the man was in league
with these apostate shepherds of Yisrael! Consequently, they were all guilty of the crime. So
when the Messiah said that he who was without sin among them could cast the first stone, He
was not abolishing capital punishment: He was simply showing them He knew their evil
deed. And since they had all conspired to do this thing, they were all guilty of the sin of
adultery. So eSwhy, by no means, abolished the death penalty. Elsewhere, the writer of
Hebrews informed New Covenant believers:
“He that sets at naught the Law of Mosheh dies without
compassion at the mouth of two or three witnesses.”
Hebrews 10:28
This is speaking of the death penalty, and the particular New Covenant believer who wrote
these lines was not attempting to abolish it. For his words describe exactly what occurred
with the disobedient Ananias and Sapphira—the two who suffered the death penalty for
lying, for setting at naught the Law of Mosheh.
1 But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, 2 and kept
back part of the price—his wife also knowing—and brought a certain part, and laid it at the
emissaries’ feet. 3 But Peter said, Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to Ruach
ha’Qodesh, and to keep back part of the price of the land? 4 While it remained, did it not
remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your power? How is it that you have
conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men, but to Elohim. 5 And Ananias,
hearing these words, fell down and gave up the spirit: and great fear came upon all that
heard it. 6 And the young men arose and wrapped him round, and they carried him out and
buried him. 7 And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing
what was done, came in. 8 And Peter said to her, Tell me whether you sold the land for so
much. And she said, Yes, for so much. 9 But Peter said to her, How is it that you have agreed
together to try the Spirit of the Sovereign? Behold, the feet of them that have buried your
husband are at the door, and they shall carry you out. 10 And she fell down immediately at
his feet, and gave up the spirit: and the young men came in and found her dead, and they
carried her out and buried her by her husband. Acts 5:1-10
At the mouth of two or three witnesses, these believers were executed for lying to Ruach
ha’Qodesh: Kepha/Peter told the man there was nothing which kept the couple from
retaining all the money for themselves, yet they conspired to make it appear as though they
were laying down the full price of the field as a donation for the poor. These disobedient
disciples fell by the Sword from the mouth of hwhy, a sword which was wielded by the
apostle and prophet Kepha/Peter. So it is that Sha’ul could speak of having to come to the

44
company of believers in Corinth not sparing (i.e., slaying with the Sword of the Spirit) those
who continued to walk in violation of the Torah:
20 For I fear, lest, when I come, I shall not find you such as I would, and that I shall be found
unto you such as ye would not: lest there be debates, envyings, wraths, strifes, backbitings,
whisperings, swellings, tumults: 21 and lest, when I come again, my Elohim will humble me
among you, and that I shall mourn 264 many which have sinned already, and have not
repented of the uncleanness and fornication and lasciviousness which they have committed. 1
This is the third time I am coming to you: In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every
word be established. 2 I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second
time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other,
that, if I come again, I will not spare … 2Corinthians 12:20 - 13:2
Therefore I write these things, being absent, lest being
present I should use sharpness, according to the power which
the Sovereign has given me to edification, and not to destruction.
2Corinthians 13:10
Sha’ul was warning the disobedience that they were in danger of being slain by the Sword
from the mouth of hwhy: Apart from repentance, their violations of the Torah would lead to
their death by the Word of hwhy, the Sword of the Spirit:265
11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall
after the same example of unbelief. 12 For the Word of Elohim is quick,
and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. 13 Neither is there any
creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked
and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Hebrews 4:11-13
The previous Scripture was spoken as a warning—not to unbelievers, but to disobedient
believers. And Sha’ul also openly and directly wrote of this Sword in the letter to the
Romans:
1 Let every soul be in subjection to the higher powers: for there is no power but of Elohim;
and those that be are ordained of Elohim. 2 Therefore, he that resists the power, withstands
the ordinance of Elohim: and they that withstand shall receive to themselves judgment. 3 For
rulers are not a terror to the good work, but to the evil. And would you have no fear of the
power? Do that which is good, and thou shall have praise from the same: 4 for he is a
minister of Elohim to you for good. But if you do that which is evil, be afraid; for he does not
bear the Sword in vain: for he is a minister of Elohim, an avenger for wrath to him that does
evil. 5 Therefore, it is necessary to be subject, not only on account of wrath, but also on
account of conscience. Romans 13:1-5
Believers who think this Scripture is speaking only of civil authorities (and capital
punishment from the government) are greatly mistaken; and we have shown other texts which
indicate this teaching in Romans certainly, if not chiefly, applies to the authority of hwhy in
the Assembly of believers.

• The fiery Sword which slew Eliyahu’s enemies will also slay those who attempt to interrupt
the ministry of the Two Witnesses:
3 And I will give to My two witnesses, and they shall prophesy a thousand
two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth. 4 These are the two olive trees
and the two lampstands, standing before the Sovereign of the earth. 5 And if any
man desires to hurt them, fire proceeds out of their mouth and devours their enemies;
and if any man shall desire to hurt them, in this manner he must be killed.
Revelation 11:3-5
• Yet this is the same Two-Edged Sword which proceeds from the mouth of eswhy at His
return. eswhy the Messiah—the Prophet, Priest, and King—will execute the wrath of hwhy as
He slays the disobedience with the Sword of His mouth:266
11 And I saw the heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and He that sat thereon called
Faithful and True; and in righteousness He does judge and make war. 12 And His eyes are a
flame of fire, and upon His head are many diadems; and He has a name written which no one
knows but He Himself. 13 And He is arrayed in a garment sprinkled with blood: and His
name is called “The Word of Elohim.” 14 And the armies which are in heaven followed Him
upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and pure. 15 And out of His mouth proceeds a
sharp Sword, that with it He should smite the nations: and He shall rule them with a rod of
iron: and He treads the winepress of the fierceness of the wrath of El Shaddai. Revelation
19:11-15
While this prophecy speaks of the use of the Messiah’s Sword at His return, even now, eswhy
wields this Sword of the Spirit, and He will certainly use it, if needed, to slay the
rebellious.267 And even upon His return, eswhy warned that His disobedient servants would
surely be cut in pieces with this Sword:
48 But if that evil servant will say in his heart, “My Master tarries,”
49 and shall begin to beat his fellow servants, and shall eat and drink with
the drunken;50 the Master of that servant will come in a day when he does
not expect, and in an hour when he knows not, 51 and shall cut him asunder,
and appoint his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be
the weeping and the gnashing of teeth.

The Prophets of hwhy: Kings in the Making
The prophets of hwhy are kings in the making: Not only are we told directly that David
will be king over Yisrael and the nations in the Millennium,268 but Scripture also indicates
that all the prophets will bear rule as a reward for having sought hwhy in this lifetime:

46
It is the splendor of Elohim to conceal a matter,
but the splendor of kings is to search out a matter.
Proverbs 25:2
Those prophets who have searched out269 the will and ways of hwhy will have proven
themselves worthy to “reign with Him:” The chasidim, the set apart ones, will possess the
Kingdom.270 Numerous prophesies tell us the victorious believers will rule over the nations
in the resurrection.271 As the Messiah has already spoken, prominent among this number will
be Abraham, Yitschak, Ya’acob, 272 and all the prophets:
There will be the weeping and the gnashing of teeth,
when you see Abraham, and Yitschak, and Ya’acob,
and all the prophets, in the Kingdom of Elohim,
and yourselves cast forth without.
Luke 13:28
“The chasidim will possess the Kingdom,” or as the Messiah said, “The meek shall inherit the
earth.” These statements imply both rule and ownership.
Exulting in hwhy/Rejoicing in hwhy
We have already seen how the prophets rejoice and exult in hwhy through songs of praise
to His Name. But there are other ways to rejoice and exult in the greatness of the Most High,
and this does not always involve singing songs. True, when reading or hearing these words
of Sha’ul, we often think about the joy that comes (or the joy that we express) when singing
in worship:
Rejoice always …
1Thessalonians 5:16
Rejoice in hwhy always, and again I say rejoice.
Philippians 4:4
But through the prophet Isaiah, we see this continual rejoicing does not always involve
singing songs:
You meet him that rejoices and works righteousness:
that remembers You in Your ways …
Isaiah 64:5
This Scripture shows us that “rejoicing always,” means rejoicing in His Word and fulfilling it
in our every day lives: The privilege of even having the opportunity to do His will certainly
bring joy to anyone who is walking in the Spirit. And this joy is an indicator that we are
walking in love (versus being “legalistic”): In legalism, it is impossible to know the true joy
of hwhy. Those who possess the Spirit of eswhy will also have His joy in hwhy, and the
Messiah’s joy was found in doing His Father’s will!273 eswhy the Messiah rejoiced in
working righteousness, in upholding the Torah!274

Burnt-offering and sin-offering You have not required. 7 Then I said, Behold,
I have come: In the roll of the book it is written of me: 8 I delight to do your will,
My Elohim, yes, Your Torah is within my heart.
Psalm 40:8/Hebrews 10:5-9
Through Jeremiah, hwhy spoke a most moving text regarding those who exult in Him:
23 Thus says hwhy: Let not the wise exult in his wisdom,
neither let the mighty exult in his might; let not the rich exult in his riches:
24 but let him that exults exult in this: That he understands and knows Me, that I
am hwhy, who exercises chesed (kindness), judgment, and righteousness
in the earth; for in these things I delight, says hwhy.
Jeremiah 9:23-24
Such exultation was a preeminent thing in the lives of the former prophets, and it will remain
a thing of immense importance in the lives of the latter prophets yet speaking in these End
Times.
Swearing by hwhy
Many will read the words of eswhy in the Sermon on the Mount and immediately deduce
it is wrong to swear.275 Yet, in this very same sermon, the Messiah proclaimed the
Word/Torah of hwhy would never pass away,276 even adding for emphasis that those who
keep and teach the Torah would be rewarded as the greatest in the Kingdom of heaven.277 So
what is the source of the misunderstanding? In “The Gospel of Matthew According to a
Primitive Hebrew Text,” author George Howard indicates that, according to the Shem Tob
text of Matthew, the Messiah was not directing His followers to forgo swearing; in the
original Hebrew text of said document, this phrase actually reads:
… swear not in vain by anything …
Matthew 5:34
We deduce that, in later Greek versions, this critical phrase “in vain” was removed—either
through the ignorance of the translators, through anti-Semitism, or (irony of ironies!278)
through the anti-Torah mindset that quickly prevailed even within the first century. But for
the Messiah to have taught this in the way He did, it provides us with an indication that there
had long-since arisen a practice in Yisrael of swearing falsely by something other than the
Name of hwhy; and the Savior’s rebuke makes it evident that, while those engaged in this
practice felt they were excused from guilt (since they were not invoking His Qadosh Name),
their false swearing was still falsehood regardless of the object by which the swearing was
taking place. But the Torah indicates we are to swear by His Name:
You shall fear hwhy your Elohim,
and serve Him, and shall swear by His Name …

Matthew 5:17-20
48
And we see much evidence the prophets swore by His Name. David and Jonathan swore to
each other in truth, and the latter of the two spoke prophecy over the fact that all of David’s
enemies would be cut off from the earth:
12 And Jonathan said unto David, hwhy, the Elohim of Yisrael, be witness: when I have
sounded my father about this time to–morrow, or the third day, behold, if there is good
toward David, shall I not then send to you, and disclose it to you? 13 hwhy do so to Jonathan,
and more also, should it please my father to do you evil, if I disclose it not to you, and send
you away, that you may go in peace: and hwhy be with you, as He has been with my father.
14 And you shall not only while yet I live show me the lovingkindness of hwhy, that I die not;
15 but also you shall not cut off your kindness from my house for ever; no, not when hwhy has
cut off the enemies of David, every one from the face of the earth. 16 So Jonathan made a
covenant with the house of David, saying, “And hwhy will require it at the hand of David’s
enemies.” 17 And Jonathan caused David to swear again, for the love that he had to him; for
he loved him as he loved his own soul …
42 And Jonathan said to David, Go in peace, forasmuch as we have both sworn in the Name
of hwhy, saying, “hwhy shall be between me and you, and between my seed and your seed, for
ever.” And he arose and departed: and Jonathan went into the city.
1Samuel 20:12-17, 42
It is most clear that swearing in the Name of hwhy involved uttering/invoking/speaking the
Qadosh Name of hwhy. So neither David or Jonathan would recognize the modern-day
Jewish tradition of not speaking His great Name. To provide still another instance, we read
King Zedekiah was compelled to sware in the Name of hwhy to convince Jeremiah that the
ruler would not kill him if he prophesied the truth of hwhy over the king’s fate:
14 Then Zedekiah the king sent, and took Yirmeyahu the prophet to him into the third entry
that is in the house of hwhy: and the king said to Yirmeyahu, “I will ask you a thing; hide
nothing from me.” 15 Then Yirmeyahu said to Zedekiah, “If I declare it to you, will you not
surely put me to death? And if I give you counsel, you will not hearken to me.”
16 So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Yirmeyahu, saying,
“As hwhy lives, that made us this soul, I will not put you to death,
neither will I give you into the hand of these men that seek your life.”
Jeremiah 38:14-16
Abigail swore in the Name of hwhy to confirm her deep, utter sincerity and contrition before
David:
Now therefore, my sovereign, as hwhy lives, and as your soul lives,
seeing hwhy has withheld you from bloodguiltiness, and from avenging
yourself with your own hand, now therefore let your enemies,
and those that seek evil to my sovereign, be as Nabal.
1Samuel 25:26
And Ittai swore in the Name of hwhy to confirm his allegiance to David
And Ittai answered the king, and said, “As hwhy lives,
and as my sovereign, the king, lives, surely in what place my sovereign,
the king, shall be, whether for death or for life,

49
even there also will your servant be.”
2Samuel 15:21
Finally, a revealing text through the prophet Jeremiah shows us that, not speaking His Name,
and not swearing in His Name, is the judgment of hwhy those who still remain in spiritual
and/or Egyptian/worldly bondage:
Therefore, hear the word of hwhy, all Yahudah that dwell in the land of Egypt:
Behold, I have sworn by My great Name, says hwhy, that My Name shall no more
be named in the mouth of any man of Yahudah in all the land of Egypt, saying,
“As the Sovereign hwhy lives.”
Jeremiah 44:26
So, in one sense, it is completely appropriate that many today will not speak the Name of
hwhy, praise the Name of hwhy, or swear in the Name of hwhy: We see from this text that not
speaking His Name is the judgment rendered over all those who remain in spiritual
bondage—the captivity of which dwelling in Egypt/Egyptian bondage is a figurative type. Of
course, this judgment is quite telling when one considers the unsubstantiated Jewish tradition
of not speaking His great Name. But regardless of man’s commandment-nullifying
traditions, the prophets of hwhy will continue to uphold His Torah: To bless His Name, to
bless in His Name, to praise His Name, to speak in His Name, and to swear in His Name.
The Mouth of Those Who Speak Lies Shall be Stopped
hwhy will oppose those who oppose His prophets. And this is what we must always
remember: If our battles are His battles, He will fight for us; and so we must fully believe
what the Scriptures continually set forth to be a foundational truth:
Over every matter, His sovereign will
shall most certainly prevail.
Oftentimes, our greatest need is to simply be still and to know that He is Elohim:279 For it is
only in the midst of this peace and quietude that we may hear His still, small voice.280 hwhy
has always opposed those who oppose His prophets; eventually (and sometimes even
immediately), one way or another, the mouths of the rebellious have always been stopped:
• Those who opposed Noah were eventually silenced by the Flood.281
• Those who opposed the prophecies of Yoseph 282 were eventually silenced as they bowed in
humility before him.283 And in so doing, they fulfilled the very dream whose fulfillment they
had tried to prevent.
• Beginning with Pharaoh and his armies,284 followed even by those Israelites who rebelled,
all those who opposed Mosheh were slain285 or smitten286 by hwhy. In all cases, they were
silenced.

• Those who plotted against Daniel were eventually thrown into the pit which they had

• And those who plotted against Mordecai and the Yahudim were eventually hung on the

• The Herod which early opposed the Messiah’s life soon died,292 while his descendant (who
slew the prophet Ya’acob/James with the sword,293 and who also tried to kill Peter 294) was
soon judged and eaten by worms.295
The Battle Belongs to hwhy
It is hwhy and the power of His Spirit which prevails in and through the lives of the
prophets. He upholds them because they represent His will and ways in the earth: They
speak His Word. The faith of the prophets rests in the power and sovereignty of hwhy
because they know it is His unstoppable plans and purposes that will most assuredly be
accomplished in all the earth: Because He is the Sovereign, the Eternal King,296 His will shall
be done; His desires, and the plans of His heart, will most certainly come to pass.297 The
prophet Isaiah wrote of this great power and foreknowledge in what must be one of my
favorite texts:
Remember the former things of old, for I am Elohim
and there is none else; Elohim, and none is like Me: Declaring the end
from the beginning, and from ancient times that which is not done, saying:
“My counsel will stand and I will do all My pleasure”…
Isaiah 46:9-10
The plans and purposes of hwhy simply cannot be stopped by any force—whether human or
spiritual:
There is no wisdom, and there is no understanding,
and there is no counsel against hwhy.

Summary
Misparim/Gematria is Inspired
This series of studies continues to prove that, not only is misparim inspired, but it is an
Elohim-ordained phenomenon which manifestly gives us the Most High’s very own
commentary on His Word. Many believers have been too quick to attribute gematria—what
we have chosen to call misparim298—to the kingdom of darkness.299 Yet given the present
and widespread use of kabbalah and gematria, even by those who are living profane lives of
abject lawlessness, we do understand why believers would be inclined to shun the truth of
misparim (gematria) and numerology. However, regardless of those lawless ones who have
abused it, attributing something inspired by the Spirit of hwhy to the realm of darkness is
edging dangerously close to blasphemy of Ruach ha’Qodesh.300
What some believers need to better understand is that
the Adversary will seek to malign and denigrate
every spiritual weapon ordained by the
Throne of Heaven for our benefit.
And has this not been the case with fasting? Fasting is an act of righteousness which forms
what must be one of the most powerful spiritual weapons of all—if it is coupled with earnest
prayer and seeking the Face/mind/will of hwhy. Yet many well-meaning, but misled people
will cite Scriptures removed from their context—such as Isaiah rebuking the false motives of
Yisrael when fasting,301 or the self-righteous example of the Pharisee (who mistakenly used
the practice of fasting to exalt himself)302—and then they will quickly303 and unwisely
conclude that fasting belongs to the realm of the arrogant and disobedient. Yet this deduction
is precisely the opposite of the actual truth of the matter: Fasting is the means by which we
humble ourselves304 and find even greater favor305 in His sight ,306 to the end that we might
make significant, even evident 307 strides toward His Kingdom and His righteousness.
Apart from fasting-derived meekness and humility,
those who seek to enter into the promised inheritance of life
in the Messianic Age will most certainly fail to attain.308
Yet, like fasting, misparim is manifestly ordained of hwhy, and it is indisputably inspired.
Consequently, we pray no person will make the grave mistake of attributing misparim to the
working of Satan. And did anyone ever give kabbalists the exclusive right to claim misparim
(gematria) as their own?309 Misparim is clearly a phenomenon which is inspired by the Spirit
of hwhy, so imagining that gematria is something to be used only when studying the
Kabbalah (or only by kabbalists/cabbalists) is much like saying only someone who is an
Essene has the right to fast and pray. Imagining only kabbalists have the right to employ

Isaiah 58:1-5. As the context/discourse continues, Isaiah speaks of the nature of a true and acceptable fast: Isaiah 58:1-

And, by the way, there appears to be significant abuse/misuse of gematria amongst some kabbalists.

gematria, or imagining only Essenes have the right to fast and pray, both opinions would be
equally ludicrous mindsets.
The Hebrew letters of the word “prophet” (aybn, na-vee) add up to 63, and Tehillah 63
reveals the Spirit’s working in the lives of the prophets: Men and women who hungered and
thirsted for hwhy then, and men and women who hunger and thirst after the Most High now.
These are the earnest souls who rise up early to seek His Face—His Presence, His power, His
splendor. In the midst of persecution and hardship, they find refuge in hwhy, and they
ultimately overcome with lives of praise and worship: Prophets exult in His great Name,310
proclaiming the Name of hwhy to Yisrael and to the world.
Prophets also know that the power belongs to hwhy :311 It is only by being in the Presence
of hwhy that personal greatness is brought into our lives by His Spirit which dwells with us;
and this holds true even if we never see many mighty works of power: King David will be
among the greatest of all in the Kingdom of hwhy, and yet we have no record of him working
any miracles. However, none of this is said to deny that such great works have been and will
be done by the true prophets of hwhy. We expect more and more works of power as the
Messianic Age draws nearer and nearer.312 However, when people walking in lawlessness do
great works, even miracles, they will nevertheless have to answer to the Messiah for a life of
violating His Torah, and eswhy warns they will most certainly be cast forth from His
Kingdom.313 But what were David’s credentials? David loved hwhy and walked by faith in
His Name: The shepherd, prophet, and king continually drew near to hwhy; he continually
sought hwhy; he continually inquired of hwhy.314 And like all the Hebrew prophets of old,
David heard the voice of hwhy and followed His Torah. The many edifying psalms of praise
are evidence that David sought and found hwhy throughout his lifetime: When we seek and
find hwhy, He puts a new song in our mouths,315 and David experienced this many, many
times.
The Messiah clearly declared His followers to be prophets:316 Being directed by the
prophetic Spirit317 of ha’Mashiach,318 they are able to more fully perceive the Mind of
hwhy.319 But this makes life no easier as much tribulation comes with such a calling. As he
passed through to encourage the believers of Lystra, Iconium, and Antioch, Sha’ul warned them
of the certainty of difficulties and tribulation which believers must pass through in this life:
…that we must through much tribulation
enter into the Kingdom of Elohim.
Acts 14:22
He would later write in the very same vein when exhorting Timothy via a personal letter:

And, indeed, all those wishing to live reverently
in the Messiah eswhy will be persecuted.
2Timothy 3:12
But even in the midst of persecution and hardship, there is no greater privilege and no greater
honor than serving hwhy and living to bring esteem to His Name as we follow the Messiah in
this lifetime.
In closing, our continual prayer is that the Spirit of hwhy will magnify His great and Qadosh
Name in the lives of all His prophets. t

An Excellent Translation of the Scriptures

“ISRV” is an acronym which means: “INSTITUTE FOR SCRIPTURE RESEARCH VERSION.” This
acronym has been used in the current document to indicate we have quoted a Scripture text
from the excellent translation produced by the INSTITUTE FOR SCRIPTURE RESEARCH—an
organization of Messianic believers based in South Africa. These believers have published a
most helpful, edifying version of the Word of hwhy which is entitled “The Scriptures.” For
those wishing to make further inquiry, the ISR website address is:
