Village Development Dialogue: in Rural Villages of District

Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah)
A village based community dialogue was held with villagers of different villages in
Union Council (UC) Jam Sahib of Taluka Daur, Distinct Shaheed Benazir Abad
(Nawabshah) to discuss with them the problems they are facing in their villages in
remote rural areas and to sensitize them to form Village Development Organization
(VDOs) in their respective villages to collectively work for the development and
facilities of their villages.
While taking part in the dialogue and discussions, the villagers said they are
confronting with so many socio-economic and other basic problems such as safe
drinking water, sanitation; health and education are the main issues of their villages.

They had also complains of various deadly diseases, which are found in there areas
such as hepatitis, cholera, malaria and diarrhea, however, rapidly spreading in other
local villages of the surrounding areas. The villagers have a more complain regarding
hepatitis and diarrhea diseases frequently occurring in their villages, which has badly
affected especially the vulnerable group i.e. children.
They also confess that due to lack of common and single platform, they have never
made any serious joint efforts for the solution of problems of their villages, neither
the elected representatives have ever paid visit of their respective villages in order to
know from the villagers regarding the issues and help out them in solution of their
problems.
They appreciated the efforts of SANGAT Development Foundation for organizing
and sensitizing the local villagers of the remote rural areas, to work for the
development of their villages to adopt organised and effective mechanism through
formation of Village Development Organization (VDOs) whose task should be to

develop coordination with all relevant district government departments and also
develop plans and schemes keeping their needs in view.

However, it is great dilemma of our nation that we have even entered into the 21st
century, majority of our population lacking basic facilities even drinking unsafe and
contaminated water and also living in unhygienic conditions. It is therefore, there is
need of sustained efforts for the mobilization and organization of the local
communities for their rights and work with effective and organised manner for the
provision of facilities for their future generation.

In this regard, SANGAT Development Foundation has been working with local rural
communities at the grass root level to help them in establishment of their forums and
organizations and work for their capacity building as they could work properly and
effectively for their village development.

Until now SANGAT Development Foundation has formed 15 Village Development

Organizations/Committees (VDOs) at the grass root level in Union Council Jam
Sahib in District Shaheed Benazirabad (Nawabshah), and now days SANGAT has
been working for the capacity building of theses formed Village Development
