HAZARD IDENTIFICATION RISK ASSESSEMENT AND RISK CONTROL (HIRARC)

INTRODUCTION

n established Occupational Health and Safety Management System Standard (such as


OHSAS 18001) requires organization to identify the occupational risk and health of their
process and workplace to determine those that have or can have an intolerable risk to the
interested parties.

Further to that, as required by the law, each organization needs to have safe system of
work to ensure harm is prevented to all employees including visitors and contractors. Safe
system of work includes safe work procedures and instructions. In order to know that safe
system of work is adequate, hazard identification and risk assessment need to be
conducted.

This course provides delegates with an introduction to the practical approaches to


identifying the occupational health and safety (OHS) hazard of your company’s process &
workplace, their actual or potential intolerable risk as a basis of minimizing or eliminating
risks through systematic approach.

OBJECTIVES

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Understand different types of hazards that presence in the workplace


• Learn how to effectively identify hazards in the workplace
• Understand the main occupational hazard groups and the health risks that certain
workplace hazard pose
• Evaluate and risk assessment associated with the identified hazards and make
recommendations on eliminating or reducing the risks of these hazards
• Determine the appropriate hazards control measures and assess the effectiveness of
the control measures taken
• Appreciate the importance of hazards identification process as a means to avoid
accidents in the workplace

Solution with ExxonMobil rigs. Adept at using sound knowledge and experience to
accurately assess a situation and move forward with a logical plan of mediation. Proven
track record of superior performance and an obvious dedication to the safety of people
everywhere.
He is now working as On Scene Commander for the energy sector part of the
Emergency Response Team. Mr Awang is responsible in the ERP and ERT management
throughout his shift and his team.
