France Plan for Energy Performance of

Agricultural Exploitations

• In February 2009, the French government launched a plan to improve the energy
efficiency of agricultural exploitations. The plan will support the Grenelle de
l'Environment objective of having 30% of agricultural exploitations be low-energy consumption
by 2013. As part of the plan six agreements have been signed by the Ministry of Agriculture
and Fishing and various public and private organisations (ADEME, GDF-Suez, EDF, the
agriculture chamber APCA, Sofiprotéol, Cristal Union, federation of agricultural equipment users
FNCUMA).

 France Biomass Feed-in Tariffs

Biomass Feed-in Tariff France

• Grant Type: Production Incentives

• Amount: € EUR cents 4.5/kWh
• Geographic Focus: France
• Deadline: 31st December 2019

• As of December 2009, new feed-in tariffs for electricity produced from biomass are in
place. These apply to vegetable and animal agricultural waste, algae and some industrial
biomass waste (pulp and paper, wood industries).

• A fixed tariff of EUR cents 4.5/kWh is offered for a period of 20 years, on top of which a
variable rate of EUR cents 8-13/kWh is added according to the level of power generation,
energy efficiency, and the source of energy

• Amount: €400,000 max amount
• Geographic Focus: Northern Ireland

• The Biomass Processing Challenge Fund aims to encourage agricultural and forestry businesses
to install biomass fuelled technologies primarily to aid agricultural activities at farm level.

• This Scheme is managed under the European Sustainable Competitiveness Programme

for Northern Ireland 2007-2013.

HSBC Start-UP Green Award 2010

• Grant Type: Prize / Award

• Amount: £ 50,000
• Geographic Focus: United Kingdom
