Pastor’s Corner ~
The gospel this Sunday contains the most important
question that a believer in God should ask: “What must I
do to inherit eternal life?” We know what to do to get a
profession, to join the military, to become rich, to enter
politics, etc. We can know almost everything we want to
know, to do things, to go places, or to acquire things in
this life. But the most important answer to this most
important question may lead us to life beyond our
earthly life.
God Moves in Mysterious Ways…
The St. Columba Seniors’ Club publishes a small
newsletter each month. One particular issue
contained info about our Building Fund. A parishioner
mailed a copy to her retired father, who lives in
Wisconsin. Her father was moved, out of the kindness
of his heart, to send a donation of $1,000 to our
Building Fund. And he is not Catholic!
Thank you to our Senior Club for supporting
the Building Fund.

This same gospel summarizes the law and the prophets, Thank you to our parishioner’s father for
which means practically all the Old and New his generous donation.
Testaments’ teachings of the Bible. This is also Jesus’
answer to that most important question asked by the
scholar of the law. Because God is Love, according to St. Columba School Registration
St. John, the sure way be with God eternally is to go
through the way of Love, which should be unconditional, For information call: (858) 279-1882

As the gospel story illustrates, true and unconditional
love cuts across all racial and cultural prejudice. After
hearing the story of the Good Samaritan, we are
commanded by Jesus to “Go and do the same”.

Medieval Church History—The history of the Church
in the Middle Ages is one great dramatic story after the
other. Join Fr. Tom Herbst at Mission San Luis Rey,
Oceanside, to hear about the birth of Christendom, the
Dark Ages, the Black Death, and the Reformation.
Sessions held on July 15, 22, & 29 at either 10 a.m. or

Magnificat—a Ministry to Catholic Women—On

ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT: Held the 2nd
Saturday of each month in the Daily Chapel from 8:45
am - 3:30 pm.
ANCIENT ORDER OF HIBERNIANS: Every 2nd Wednesday
of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Music Room.
BABYSITTING: Every Sunday during the 9:30 a.m. Mass
in the Preschool for infants and children up to four years

BIBLE SHARING (Sunday By Sunday): Monday mornings,
9:00-10:30 a.m. (On summer break).

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults): For adults
