BISHOP FLORES SCHOLARS FUND: To all our St. Columba families we encourage you to go to Bishop
Flores Scholars Tuition Assistance Program, and apply for assistance. Application forms are available
online at http://www.bishopfloresscholars.org Deadline for student applications are February 28th.
Tuition assistance awards will be finalized March 23rd. Schools and families will be notified via email
late March – early April. Important reminder; you do not apply through FACTS!

6TH GRADE SPAGHETTI FUNDRAISER DINNER: Invite family and friends to join us Saturday, January 27th for
our 6th grade spaghetti dinner from 4:30 – 8:30 pm in the parish hall. All meals include; salad, bread, non-
alcoholic drink, and dessert. Pre-order tickets are $10.00 for adults, and children 11 & under are $5.00.
Pre-sale drink tokens (beer & wine) are $5.00. Tokens will be available for pick-up at “will call” night of
dinner. All pre-sale order must be received in the school office by Thursday, January 25th. Tickets at the
door are $11.00 for adults, child (11 & under) $6.00, beer or wine tokens $6.00. You can also purchase
tickets after the 9:30 Mass this Sunday, January 21st. You can also stop by the office to pick-up an order
form, and place your order.

CATHOLIC SCHOOLS OPEN HOUSE: One of the most important weeks of our school year is the celebration
of Catholic Schools Week. We celebrate a school dedicated to living and teaching the gospel message
of Jesus Christ, and celebrate our uniqueness as a family community. We want to welcome our St.
Columba families, friends and parishioners to join us Sunday, January 28th for 9:30 Mass. Students will be
doing the Sunday readings at this special Mass. Following Mass our Open House will be from 10:30 – 12:00.
We invite you to visit our classrooms, preschool and computer lab. Bring a family who might be interested
in finding out more about our school and the gift that lasts a lifetime – Catholic education. Also, on
Saturday, January 28th, The American Red Cross will be here once again for our 2nd annual blood drive

GRANDPARENTS DAY: Friday, February 2nd is Grandparents Day! We welcome all our grandparents to join
us starting with Mass at 8:15, followed by a Continental Breakfast from 9:15 – 10:00 am – recess 10:00-
10:15,and 10:30 – 11:30 students will perform for our grandparents, and ending the day with grandparents
visiting the classrooms from 11:30 –12:00. Also, it would be very helpful if you would contact the office by
Monday, January 29th, so we can get an idea of approximately how many will be attending. Thank you.

LOOKING AHEAD: Gala 2018 is fast approaching! Invite family and friends to join us Saturday, March 10th
at the Four Points by Sheraton located at 8110 Aero Drive. Tickets for the drawing were sent home
December 22nd with your child. Each family received 10 tickets, and we need every family to commit to
purchasing these tickets. The drawing for $5,000.00 is the main prize of the event. If each of our families
reach out and support this drawing our goal can become a reality. To help make this event a great
success we need everyone’s support.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK FAIR: Mark your calendar! Scholastic Book Fair begins January 28th through February
2nd. This is a great school event that encourages the love of reading, and helps to get supplies and books
for our classrooms. A very special thank you to Sonia Ortega for organizing this year’s book fair.
Volunteers are needed! More information will be coming home soon.
