The Canteen program had another fun filled year! The objective of the Canteen program is to create an
environment for students to feel comfortable being themselves and to socialize with others. The students
enjoyed the variety of activities that we participated in. While in our home base at the Carteret School we
play basketball, karaoke, board games and Xbox Connect. We also went on adventures to the NY Aquarium,
the Circle of Friends holiday dance and out to eat. We already cant wait to start back up again in the fall!
The Horizons group recently finished another wonderful year together! The group participated in a
variety of activities such as going to the movies, seeing plays, bowling, pizza & paint nights, Monster
Mini-golf and trying out a bunch of restaurants. In addition the group saw plays at the Paper Mill
Playhouse, won money at the Meadowlands Racetrack and cheered on the Bloomfield Special Olympics
basketball team. We have a great time together and are already looking forward to more fun in the fall!

Our special needs after-care program will hold its second annual art show on June
16th from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Civic Center. Our students participate in a
yearlong art program entitled Kids Art Academy. Classes include painting, drawing,
making sculptures and learn about famous artists. All our art classes are judgment
free, allowing out students to be at ease and freely express themselves without fear of
recrimination. It also provides a way to relax and have an enjoyable experience while
encouraging personal growth and uncovering hidden abilities and talents. On June 16 th
our students will proudly display all of their art work for the year in a gallery setting. We
will provide food and refreshments for a fun, positive and memorable experience.
