HIGHWAY CLEAN-UP The more hands the better! Thank you, in advance, to all of those who have let us know already that youre coming to help! The Highway Clean-up will happen over two mornings (9am 11am) on Tuesday, June 11th and Wednesday, June 12th. This will be a fundraiser for the school also. Caribou Road Service will pay us $675 for each route. It also helps spruce up the 10km of road coming and going into Rolla. Thanks!

This looks like it is shaping up to be a very busy morning! PRESENTATION of LEARNING, YEAR END ASSEMBLY & AWARDS & POTLUCK BBQ Wednesday, June 26th (begins at 9:30am) with BBQ hosted by parents to follow.

Presentation of Learning
9:30 We are aiming for this to be a very professional and special event. We are inviting guests from the school district office, City of Dawson Creek, and PRRD. Inquiry-Based Learning. We would like to highlight some projects that have gone on at the school this past term: The Water Project and Video, Habits of the Heart Quilt and Books. We will also display student work such as their Math Fair Games. We would like the students to dress up to add extra special attention on that day. Were asking for dress shirts and ties and dresses for the girls.

Next PAC Meeting: Thursday, June 20th at 7pm (evening). Please, note: Parents have been alternating this time between after school and after supper to try to allow more of our parents to attend. This one is a very important meeting because decisions about bus service for next year need to be made. Please, join us! Were always looking for new parents to join us and share ideas. This is especially true if youre a parent of a primary student! Wed love to have you coming to participate in our decisions and planning for next year. Parent Volunteer Spotlight! Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared. ~Budha~

Standard Bus Service Special Note About the Swimming Days: To be responsible with fundraising $, Standard Bus Service for the afternoon return trip from school to Dawson Creek will be cancelled for the 6 swimming days (June 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, and 14). A special thank-you goes out again to our PAC for making this service possible and to continue to bring more students to our school and community! The Talent Show raised $2,008 for Rolla Traditional School! A big Thank You! goes out to everyone in the Rolla Community who supported a fun evening of entertainment and socializing. A special Thank You! goes out to Rio Fitch and Val Rose! Thank you also to all of our parents who helped with sending in and collecting donations, collecting Canadian Tire $, running the event, as well as set up and clean up. Thanks to the generous bidders & donors! Pictures of Children With Chicks: We still have some left! Rio took beautiful close-up shots of children with the chicks. $5.00 Each. Red Merrick announced at the event that he is again donating potatoes in the fall for the school to sell. He has two fields this year! Look for the announcement in early September to go and pick

A special thank you goes out to Brandi McCallum for our StrongStart Program. While Brandi is employed by the school district, it is her extra attention to our StrongStart parents and children that has brought us many new registrations to the school and continues to enrich our community. Brandi is also a grandparent at our school. Thank you so much, Brandi, and thanks to all of the participants who continue to come and make our StrongStart at Rolla Traditional one of the best-developed and attended programs in our district!

The mission of Rotary International is to provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.

Way to Go, Rio! Thank you so much for all the gifts youve given the children and families of our school! The Rolla Recycling Video and the Water Video are beautiful examples of your dedication. Rio and Liz will be honoured at the next Rotary Meeting and Dinner for volunteers.

Reading With Rocky! Generations of Reading Program!


Thank you to the parents and grandparents who have been coming in to read with students in the primary class! Weve had regular visits with Pat Petersen and Rocky and Fern and Carol Erickson have come, too. Please, let us know if youre interested in supporting literacy at our school and giving students an extra boost! If you have gentle dog who likes to listen to readers, theyre welcome, too!
