Abstract:

The experiment with the title power of an inductive circuit was performed.

By using the formula P= VIcosφ

These values of power were obtained=88.8, 258, 295.74, 321.86,

337.21.

The experiment was performed successfully and result was up to standard.

1. Introduction:
1.1. Background:

The product VI is called the Apparent Power and is measured in volt-amperes. VI

cosφ is the True Power measured in watts. The ratio (True Power)/ (Apparent
Power) is called Power Factor of the circuit. If the current and voltage waves are
sinusoidal, then

Power Factor = VI cos φ / VI = cos φ

Power = VI cos φ

1.2. Objectives:

 To measure the power of the Inductive circuit.

1.3. Theory:

The product VI is called the Apparent Power and is measured in volt-amperes. VI

cosφ is the True Power measured in watts. The ratio (True Power)/ (Apparent
Power) is called Power Factor of the circuit. If the current and voltage waves are
sinusoidal, then

Power Factor = VI cos φ / VI = cos φ

Power = VI cos φ

i. Wattmeter 0-750 Watts

ii. Ammeter 0-10 Amp
iii. Voltmeter 0-300 Volts
iv. Inductive circuit
v. Connecting Wires
vi. A.C supply
3. Circuit Diagram:

4. Method:
i. The connections have been connected according to the circuit
diagram.
ii. Connection was checked by the lab instructor.
iii. Switched ON the supply.
iv. Noted the readings of Voltmeter, Ammeter and of Wattmeter.
v. The experiment was performed three times taking different
readings.
vi. Power was calculated as:
i. Power Factor = VI cos φ
vii. Mean value of Power was calculated.
