A PERFORMANCE REPORT FOR THE LAST QUATER

(SELF APPRAISAL)

Objective:
The basic objective behind writing this report is to give a brief account of
what have I done in the last quarter of my academic profile and review
my performance.

I have a commerce graduate degree from University and also have a

diploma in textile technology. Like all others having a dream of joining a
B-School and have a Masters Degree was the motive behind giving the
Common Entrance Test and going through the screening process. I had
given all possible entrance tests. However rejection was what I got and
when I finally made it I was on the seventh sky. I had been planning my
masters life from long and to be true I was not at all ready for what was
going to come. The very first day at my induction I realised the level of
competition and to survive this I had to give my best not once but
always.

On the very first day itself I made a friend circle who hailed from different
backgrounds from engineering to science graduates. The college started
with a huge bang but soon we realised what was expected from us, 12
to 14 hours of slogging and with that daily presentations on subjects
never heard or read before. I being a commerce graduate had no idea of
how to give a presentation or even classify what to say, but as we all
know time teaches us everything I too was able to cope up slowly. The
best part of the program is from the very beginning we have to learn
about all subjects from finance to operations irrespective of the
specialisation you choose. Within a week of our beginning we had to go
through an induction test in which I hope to have fared well. On the
same weekend we had a fresher’s party where the seniors and juniors
had a blast. Soon all the committees started to select students and even
though I have not joined any committee I definitely plan to participate in
all events. This year was the first year for our college to form an E-Cell
which would be beneficial for all of us.

We have to wear formals and tie which is the common attire for the
corporate world and I must admit it is not at all easy to wear a tie and sit
for a lecture. Each lecture lasts for three hours and to focus for this long
is really a great challenge but now is a routine. I also have different
groups for different subjects who really have taught me how to work with
diverse people and manage all the groups. Giving presentations was not
that scary as my public speaking classes did helped me but still need a
lot to learn. Meeting the deadlines for the assignments is also a new
thing that I have learned. We even have started having guest lecturers
from the industry and it is really a learning experience to hear from them
about their professional life.

The faculty out here is the added gem in the crown and I must say the
approach they adopt is something new. They really know how to blend
academics with fun and live examples which make even a boring subject
like economics fun to learn. Even though I do right now have a
advantage for accounts and economics as for a commerce student its
not that difficult my aim is to develop this sort of advantage in all subjects
and learn each and every new thing about them. The college library is
also an add-on as it has books on such diversified subjects reading
about them gets developed automatically. It was only coming to the
college I came to know the importance of extracurricular activities. Its not
that I am a complete stranger on that front but I still need to cope up with
others and for this I have been participating in various inter collegiate
competitions. There have been companies coming for off-summer
projects and it is a big thing that there is a chance to work while you
study and accordingly gain knowledge and I will take complete
advantage of the opportunity.

The next big step lies in selecting the specialisation and having decided
to go for marketing I want to focus on harnessing my marketing skills
and I have complete faith that the college and the faculty will surely help
me in doing so. The library has books about all the aspects of marketing
and as said before its very interesting to read about them. Some believe
that deciding a specialisation so soon is foolishness but I think it only
helps you to find out better ways and means to achieve your goal. The
semester is about to end and I am happy to be in such a institute which
not only has a learning experience daily but also a platform for my
complete development.
The road ahead:
For now when the semester is about to end and I have my term exams
my aim right now is to give the best. Very soon the college also starts
with its summer placement process and I hope to be selected for a
company that will help me in my growth. Also I plan to take part in the
upcoming competitions as it will be helping me to develop my personality
but it won’t mean to neglect my curriculum

Giving excellent performances in exams and academics always

represents how much and how well one is learning. Thus, I need to be
determined to learn the most from each subject and each faculty.

In the long run, the main concern is to have a well established and
successful business and utilising all the learning received from my
management education.
