Committee Meeting Minutes

September 9, 2010

Present: Carrie, Melanie, Jason, Bob, Karen, Brett, Darryl, Catherine, Pam, Nancy and Rick

SECRETARY’S REPORT-Nancy
Read minutes from previous meeting.

TREASURER’S REPORT-Mike/Brett
Mike reported to Brett that statements went out. Brett, Mike and Karen will meet during Monday’s
troop meeting to finalize the transition.

OUTDOOR COORINDATOR-Bob
Ellsworth is out this week-end. It did not generate enough interest. We believe this is due to the fact
we have not had a meeting yet.

Hessel Sept 17,18 and 19. Will see if there is any additional interest at Monday’s first meeting.

Wilderness State Park, Mackinaw City. December 10, 11 and 12. Bob has reserved 1 bunkhouse (24
bunks) for December. It is $168 for two nights. Bob will look into holding a second bunkhouse or seeing
if we can bring in cots if we have more than 24 scouts/adults.

FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR-Catherine
Popcorn
Monday, September 13th need some time to spend with the boys regarding popcorn sales. There have
been a lot of changes this year.

There is a new commission structure. We receive 28% base. If we do addition steps (order online, be
paid in full by December 10, etc), we receive an additional 2%. If we increase our sales from last year by
10%, we will receive an additional 1%.

$400 in sales per scout is recommended by the council. Remind scouts that dues are coming up, First
payment for Philmont 2012 will be in April.

This year Catherine will preorder a determined amount of popcorn, if we run out we cannot get
additional amounts until the final order.

Sales can start on Monday, September 13 after the kickoff if you want to take orders. The popcorn
comes in on Saturday September 25 for direct sales.

Optimist Club Bowl-a-thon

Event is in either October or November. The scouts that went to Jamboree did this last year. Catherine
will keep us updated as she receives information.
Gladhandler
Someone needs to pick up 40-45 milk crates from the Country Fresh on South Airport before the
Gladhandler.

SCOUTMASTER REPORT
Rick resigned as Scoutmaster. Rick has recommended Jason to take over as the new Scoutmaster. The
Committee unanimously approved his recommendation. He will continue with scouting in some
capacity but will step back and give Jason the lead with Troop 115. September 20th we will have an
induction ceremony for Jason.

Reserve school cafeteria. Someone needs to call and reserve the school for Monday nights.

Lone Lookout. Someone needs to get all of the troop stuff out of the house at Lone Lookout.

NEW BUSINESS
Updated Troop Handbook. Bob and Brett have spent a lot of time updating the troop handbook.
Anyone else with suggestions, should let Bob know.

2010 Ribbons
We have only 3 months left to earn these ribbons.

Committee Chair
We need to replace Pam from this position as she would like to step down. Anyone interested please let
a committee member know.
