Starting with the January-March 2008 issue o 
Rice Today 
, the magazine has published 12excerpts rom selected interviews that I have conducted with IRRI’s rice pioneers. As oneo the activities to commemorate IRRI’s 50th birthday, I’ve logged more than 100 hours o videotaped conversations with more than 50 pioneers, ranging rom the Institute’s earlyresearchers, to others recently retired, to researchers’ spouses and children, to our researchpartners, and to the armers themselves.This booklet reprints those 12 articles.
