between Cynthia and Alice?

1. Millions of different kinds of plants animals live on earth. Rainforests are home to
more than half of those species. Millions of forest dwelling people around the world live
in or depend or rainforests. They have learned how to live in ways that don’t harm the
forest. Many of the world’s important food crops, medicines, and animals come from
rainforest species. The Earth’s weather is affected by rainforests. When trees are cut
down and burnt or left to decompose, they release carbon dioxide into the air, which
causes global warming.

2. First fell in love with book at the age of 5, when I was first learning to read. My

3. Some animals, such as bears, groundhogs, and mice, hibernate, or sleep, in the winter.
Since there is not a lot of food available during the winter, hibernation is a survival

body fat. When they are in hibernation, they do not have to eat or look for food.

1. Last semester I took an introductory biology course to fulfill my science


requirement. I was hoping it would be an easy class, but I was wrong. First of all, the
lecturers and the readings were very difficult. I had to get a tutor to help me understand
the information. The professor gave frequent exams and they were long and tricky. In
addition, the labs were very complicated and I had to spend up to five hours a week in the
biology laboratory. In the end, I passed the course, but I wish I had chosen an easier
science class.

3. More people die in fires than in hurricanes, earthquakes, floods and all other natural
disaster combined! Fires are very dangerous. Every year children start more than 100,000
fires. These fires account for thousands of deaths and millions of dollars in property
damage. Dangerous fires can be prevented in many ways, the first is to take fire seriously
and the second is to prepare in the event of a fire.

4. The Pacific Garbage Patch causes many environmental concerns. The small pieces of
plastic in the patch are called “microplastic”; they are hard to collect and clean up.
Microplastic that escapes the garbage patch washes up on shores. In the United States,
plastic pollution from the patch is a big problem in coastal Alaska. Also, fish and other
creatures, like sea turtles and birds, think microplastic is food. Eating microplastic can
harm animals; it can choke them, poison them, and affect their ability to reproduce.
People also consume fish that have eaten microplastic, exposing them to harmful
chemicals found in some plastic products.
