INTRODUCTION
 Ayurveda classified herbs into three
gunas, each with qualities for
developing certain psychological
responses. Satwik herbs promote the
development of mind and enhance
its clarity, Rajasik herbs contain
energy which comes fire and Tamsik
herbs contain inertia which comes
from Earth.
 These three gunas have a
corresponding effect on the plant
kingdom, which inturn affects the three
doshas. The roots of trees corresponds
to the Earth and Water hence Kapha.
Flowers corresponds to fire , therefore
Pitta. Leaves and Fruits corresponds to
the ether, thus Vata.

 Ayurveda is a science which allow us to


make use of Herbs to help counteract
mental and emotional problem.
 In Ayurveda treatment is given to the
individual according to the constitution
governed by the predominant dosha.for
e.g. dry and heat producing herbs are used
for Kapha which is cold and moist. Heat
producing and moist herbs for Vata which is
cold and dry. Cooling and dry herbs are for
Pitta which is hot and moist.

 The constitution of individual represents


vulnerability to disease. For e.g. people
with Kapha qualities are prone to diseases
like cold and congestion.

DESCRIPTION

 Eclipta alba is commonly known as Bhringraj


or False Daisy.
 It is a tropical annual, creeping and moisture
loving herb.
 It grows upto 10-15cm in height.
 The stem is short, flat or round munch
branched and blackish-green in colour.
 The flower are small penny-sized, white, on
a long stalk.
 The roots are many seeded and black in
colour. (resemble cumin seeds)
 Roots are well developed, cylindrical &
greyish in colour.

COSMETIC USES
 Eclicpta alba is one of the key ingredient
of IHT-9 Herbal Hair Shampoo. This
Shampoo arrests hair loss & promote hair
growth.
 The medicated oils of bhringraj are widely
used has hair tonic to prevent hairfall &
premature greying of the hair.
 The black dye is obtained from eclipta alba
is used for dyeing hair and tattooing.

of kapha and vata imbalance.
 The leaves of Eclipta alba are used in the treatment of

brazil.
 In Taiwan, entire plant is used in the treatment of bleeding,
haemoptysis, haematuria, itching, hepatitis, diphtheria and
diarrhea.
 It is used against anemia, eye diseases, asthma, insomnia,
head aches and liver cirrhosis.
 It is also help in promoting heart health by lowering high
blood pressure and cholesterol level, increases immune
resistance.
ADVANTAGES
 In glandular swellings and filariasis, it is used to
mitigate swelling and pain, by applying the paste.
 The chronic and infected wounds get cleansed
and heal better with application of its paste.
 It also alleviates the dispigmentation of the Skin
renders colour to the skin.
 The fresh juice of the Plant is instilled in the ears
and eyes in otitis and conjunctvitis to ameliorate
pain.
 The nasal drops of its juice, mixed with milk, are
beneficial in migraine.
 The medicated oil of bhringraj are widely used as
hair tonic and prevent and premature graying of
the hair.

knowns called as “Dasapushpam”( Ten
auspicious flower ) in kerala.
 It is the best known Herb for preventing
Hair Loss (baldness) & premature graying.
