01 Leaving So Soon

“That’s it Eva, you need to get away from here. You’re moving to Washington.” Jack told me
during dinner time. It was the middle of Summer vacation and not once have I left the house.
“What did I do?” I asked quietly looking up at him.
“That’s the problem! You don’t do anything! Ever since…” he didn’t want to finish that sentence.
“You need change. I’m sending you to your Aunt Emily.”
“You’re kicking me out?” I asked, although I couldn’t care less if he was, nothing seemed to matter
to me anymore.
“I just can’t stand to see you like this honey. It’s not that I don’t want you around, but you really
need to get away from here for awhile.” He said.
I couldn’t agree more.
I shrugged, “Alright. When do I go?”
He blushed slightly. “Well I already called and arranged things with Emily, she was over excited to
have you stay with her. I also already bought you’re plane ticket, you’ll be flying tomorrow
morning.”
I wasn’t surprised, I wasn’t sad; no emotion ran through me even though I would be leaving the
place I grew up in. I never belonged here anyway.
I looked down at my plate; I wasn’t hungry anymore so I got up to wash the dishes.
“No Eva, I’ll do those. You should go pack.” Jack said taking the plates from me.
“Thanks dad.” I told him in a monotone.

I went to my room and took out my large suitcase from under my bed. My head seemed to be
elsewhere as I emptied my cabinet of clothes, fortunately I didn’t have many clothes so I had
enough space for my laptop and speakers.
The doorbell rang, knowing Jack wasn’t home, I went to go answer it.
I already knew who it was and why he’d come to see me.
I opened the door to face the love of my life.
“I came to say goodbye.” He whispered.
This was just what I expected and I didn’t know how to change his mind. I nodded once.
“I’m sorry Eva.” Damian said his eyes full of shame. I scowled at the ground; I didn’t want him to
see the pain in my eyes. “She’s my world.” He whispered. Envy washed through me and my scowl
grew more pronounced.
Still eyeing the ground I said “So this is it then? What happened between us doesn’t mean
anything to you.”
“Of course not, I love you Eva but… I love her more. I’m so sorry.” He apologized again.
He reached and stroked my cheek with his thumb. “You’ll find someone better than me one day.
He’ll love you right and he’ll take care of you.” He said.
I couldn’t bear looking at him. “I don’t want someone else, I want you Damian.” I mumbled
hopelessly.
He kissed my forehead as a tear slid down my cheek. “Goodbye Eva.” He whispered, and he was
gone. Out of my sight and out of my life.

I shut the door and walked almost lifelessly to my room. There I sat on the floor and drowned in
my pain.

I realized I was sitting on the exact same spot at I did on that day. It’s been 9 months. He left me
broken and the pieces of the person I used to be were lost, I couldn’t find them. Jack didn’t know
that I felt so strongly for Damian and he didn’t know what to do with me. He tried being home a lot
more than he used to but it didn’t help. I felt lifeless, as if my soul has been ripped out of my body.
My friends became distant after a while as well, they gave up on trying to cheer me up seeing it
was hopeless. Getting away from here was a good idea. I can’t stay like this forever can I?

I heard a knock on my door. “Come in.” I said.

“All finished?” He asked. I nodded. “Well I’m going to bed. Night Eva, I’m going to miss having you
around.”
“Night dad.” I told him.

I was sitting on the plane staring at my hands. I didn’t feel sad as I hugged my dad goodbye earlier
that day but I would miss him. Ever since my mom died, he was the one who took care of me and
I’d say did a pretty good job bringing me up.

“Give me your hand.” Damian said, smiling radiantly. I looked at him, dazzled by his beautiful
smile. “Why?” I asked. “We’re going to do this together.” He said. But my hands were frozen on
the rail of the bridge.
“C’mon you guys.” I heard Charlotte call from the bottom; she was splashing around with Cole. “I
can’t move.” I admitted quietly. He chuckled and moved closer to me. He gently pulled my hand
from the railing and intertwined his fingers with mine.
“Ready?” he asked.
“On three.” He mumbled.
I took a deep breath and nodded.
“1.. 2.. 3!” He yelled out the last number and we both jumped into the river. The jump was
exhilarating, as I fell I felt like I was free. My heart pounded erratically. I let go of his hand as I
plunged into the cold water.
I heard clapping as my head broke onto the surface and I smiled. “See that wasn’t so hard now
was it?” Damien told me.
“It was great! I conquered my fears. You know you’re alright, new boy.” I said as I swam closer to
him and kissed him boldly. Though he was surprised he kissed me back. I pulled away gasping for
air. “Thanks.” I said grinning and swam to land.

“Eva? Is that really my little Eva White?!” Emily squealed excitedly as I stepped out of the airport,
she almost ran over to hug me, which I returned willingly.
“Hey Aunt Emily.” I said trying to plaster a smile on my face, noticing Emily’s disappointment I
knew I failed miserably.
I’ve only met Aunt Emily once in my life and that was when I was seven year old. She came over
for Christmas and I absolutely loved her and her Quileute legends. My dad told me about how she
got mauled by a bear last year and I wasn’t surprised to see the scars on her face. But no matter
how the scars deformed a side of her face she was still a beautiful woman, especially at heart.
She introduced me to her fiancée, Sam Uley. He was a tall man with copper skin, black cropped
hair and brown eyes. He held out his hand and I took it willingly, it was unbelievably warm but not
at all unpleasant. “It’s nice to finally meet you Eva, Emily’s been talking about you ever since your
father called.” He said in a deep voice.
“Nice to meet you too.” I told him, this time I didn’t smile, I knew I couldn’t pull it off.
I stared out the window, it seemed like we were heading into a small town. There were barely any
houses around, but a lot of tall green trees. It was beautiful.
I kept quiet, not knowing what to say and not wanting to talk either. Jack must have told Emily
about me because she didn’t seem surprised.

“Well come to your new home.” Emily said. “Where are we?” I wondered aloud. “This is the La
Push reservation.” Sam said proudly.
The house Emily owned fit perfectly to its surroundings, though its small size from the outside,
inside was very roomy and I felt very comfortable in that house.

02 The New Girl in Town

“Hey! I was watching that!” I heard someone complain from what seemed to be the living room.
“Shut up Seth, it’s my turn now.” Another voice said.
“Boys will you turn off the TV, we’d like you to meet Emily’s niece.” Sam ordered in a booming
voice.
All three of them stood up. They looked like brothers because all of them were huge and they had
the same copper skin, brown eyes and chopped black hair.
They all grinned as they saw me. “Eva, this is Seth Clearwater, Embry Call and Quil Ateara, boys
this is Eva White.” Emily introduced, pointing to each boy as she said their names.

I managed to plaster a smile on my face. “Nice meeting you guys.” I said blandly.
“You ok?” Embry said, cocking his head to the side. He glanced over to Sam and quickly looked at
the floor embarrassed.
I guessed my smile turned out all wrong again. “I’m good, just tired from the trip.” I lied.
“Honey, I’ll show you to your room where you can unpack and rest.” Emily said.
On our way upstairs I heard a loud slap. “Ouch! What was that for?” I heard Embry complain. “For
not paying attention to what Emily told you earlier!” I heard Quil say. “Geez, I was just trying to be
nice.” Embry said.
“Well you got it wrong. You should’ve said something like “Nice to meet you too or did you have a
good flight?” I heard Quil’s voice but as we reached the top steps their voices were muffled and I
couldn’t understand anything anymore.
They didn’t seem like bad guys, but why were they hanging around in Emily’s house?

Emily showed me my room and where the bathroom was. “Umm Aunt Emily, would it be rude to
ask why those boys were hanging around here?” I asked unsurely.
She laughed, “We’re one big happy family here in La Push, even though we’re not all related.
You’ll soon realize how it is here.” She explained.
She then left me to unpack and take a shower. It was nice here, quiet and calm. Nothing reminded
me of him and yet nothing made me forget about him.

“Charlotte I don’t want to ride the Ferris Wheel” I complained. She knew I was afraid of heights but
she was pulling me towards the large wheel anyway. “I’ll go with you.” We suddenly heard
someone from behind us say. We turned to see Cole grinning at Charlotte with a handsome
stranger standing next to him. “Cole you’re back!” Charlotte squealed with joy.
“Nice to see you too babe and I brought someone along with me. This here’s Damian, he just
moved here.” He introduced.
Then he turned to the good looking boy. “Damian this is my girl Charlotte and this over here is
Eva.” He said, winking at him.
“Oh he’s cute.” Charlotte said, only loud enough for me to here. “Mhm.” I replied, smiling at the
new boy. He returned the smile which made my heart beat accelerate.
“Cole honey, how bout you and me go on the Ferris wheel?” Charlotte suggested. “Sure babe.”
Cole replied.
“Damian you wouldn’t mind keeping Eva company would you?” Charlotte asked Damien, a
mischievous smile on her face. “Not at all.” He replied winking at me.

The next day I got to meet Jared, Paul, Leah and Billy. Although Leah glared at me a lot while the
rest of them were just as welcoming as everyone I’ve met so far. Embry and Quil showed me
around La Push, they told me a little about everyone in the reservation. I had to admit it for a
small town it was a very interesting.

A week flew by and I was in love with this place. I loved strolling along the beach in the mornings,
hearing the boys argue over the TV or food and listening to Emily’s constant chatter.
I barely said anything as usual and the nightmares and memories would still haunt me but I felt as
if I could hold myself together here.

“There’s going to be a bonfire tonight!” Embry boomed as he entered the house. He noticed my
questioning look. “It’s a small get together with food and everything, everyone will be there
tonight. Even Jake!”
Jacob Black, Billy’s son. I heard them talk about him a couple of times and every time someone
mentioned him everyone else seemed to have a glint of sadness in their eyes.
“Jake?” Emily asked surprised.
“Yeah he’s finally back! That’s why Sam left early this morning, to see if it was true.” Embry
replied.

Afterwards Emily was busy in the kitchen, preparing food for tonight. Embry sat next to me on the
couch. My head was far away in the past though.
“Are you watching this?” He asked, snapping me back into the present.
I realized that some cooking show was on TV. “Nope.” I said and handed him the remote.
“Thanks.” He said and started flipping through channels.
“You will be coming tonight won’t you?” He asked me.
“Sure.” Was all I said.
“Can I ask you something personal?” He asked.
I knew they knew about my problems but they have never mentioned it so far.
“Sure.” I said again.
“Would you rather be here with us or back home with your father?” he asked, the question took
me off guard but I was relieved he didn’t ask a question that had anything to do with Damian.
“Here” I replied. He was content with that answer.
“It would be nice if you met Jake.” He continued.
“Why?” I asked.
He hesitated, not sure if he should say anything. “Let’s just say he knows what you’re going
through.” He told me.

I had to admit that I was curious about this Jacob Black.

03 Smile Like You Mean It

“Eva honey would you do me a favor?” Emily asked, it was just the two of us in the house.
“Anything.” I said.
“Will you dress up a little tonight?” She asked.
T-shirts that were too big for me and jeans were the only clothes she’s seen me in and since
tonight was something special I agreed willingly. I wanted to make her happy, after all she was the
one who allowed me to stay here.

I took a shower and changed into a checkered tunic, black woolen leggings and put on my black
ballerinas.

I didn’t bother with my hair or make up. I left my room without even looking at the mirror.
When I reached the bottom of the staircase Sam and Emily were already at the door.
“Thank you.” Emily said beaming at me. “You look good Eva.” Sam complimented. And I thanked
him without blushing. I honestly didn’t care how I looked tonight; I just wanted to make Emily
happy.

The Bonfire took place at the beach; the fire was already lit when we arrived. Quil and Embry
came over to us excitedly and practically dragged me to the other boys. There was no new face in
the group and I was a little disappointed.
“Is that you Eva?” Paul joked as they saw me.
I shrugged and sat between Quil and Embry.
You noticed Seth just staring at you. “Uuhh looks like Seth’s got a new crush.” Jared teased and
the rest of the boys started to tease him.
“Shut up you guys! You guys have to admit she looks good!” He said embarrassedly as he
punched Jared on the arm. They all laughed and started teasing him again.

We were sitting on one side of the large bonfire and my eyes got lost in the beautiful flickering
orange, yellow and blue flames.

Charlotte, Cole, Damian and I sat around our camp fire. “So how you liking school Dame?”
Charlotte wondered. It’s been a month since he arrived and I didn’t see him as much as I hoped,
but whenever I did I couldn’t help but enjoy his presence.
“It’s been good.” He replied.
“Met any pretty girls?” She asked.
I glared at her but she just winked at me.
“Yeah Damian, How’s it going with Alyssa? I saw you two the other day together.” Cole teased.
“You don’t mean Alyssa Mayfair?” Charlotte asked distraught.
Damian just nodded, blushing slightly. I stared into the fire, trying to hide my disappointment. I did
kiss him once when we were in the river but remained no more than friends. Maybe the kiss didn’t
mean much to him as it did to me.
Damian moved to sit next to me. “Hey are you ok? You’re shaking.” He asked, worriedly. Why did
he care? I wondered.
I didn’t realize I was shaking. “Yeah.” I admitted. He took off his jacket and put it around me, and
then he put his arm around my shoulder.
I snuggled closer to him happily. Maybe Alyssa was just a friend to him.
I saw Charlotte grin widely from the corner of my eye.

“Hey Eva, you want a hotdog?” Embry asked me and bringing me back to reality. I think he was
the only one who had patience for me from the rest of the group.
“I’m good.” I told him.
“Well look who’s finally back.” Quil said but before I could look up to see who it was all the boys
were surrounding him.
“Jake! It’s been too long man.” Embry said.
“La Push hasn’t been the same without you’re big mouth.” Jared told him.
“You ever thought of showering before coming to the bonfire? You stink.” Quil teased.
“Yeah. Nice seeing you guys too.” I heard a husky voice say. There was a hint of pain in his voice,
I wondered if the others noticed. I was still sitting on the sand, not looking at the reunion anymore.

“Jake we’d like you to meet someone.” Quil suddenly said.

“This is Eva White. Eva, this here is Billy’s son, Jacob Black.” Embry introduced us.

Slowly I looked up at the stranger I was so interested in meeting. He was about 6’7 with a dark
russet skin. Although he had a shirt on I could see his body was toned and muscular.
As I looked into his chocolate brown eyes I felt I was looking into a mirror of my own pain. I don’t
know how long we were looking at each other.
His expression changed from surprised to interested into relieved. From the corner of my eye I saw
everyone started grinning widely at the both of us, which confused me.
He then smiled down at me. “Nice to meet you Eva.” He told me in his husky deep voice.
Unthinkingly, a small smile formed itself on my lips, something about his smile had that effect on
me. Did I just find one of my missing pieces?
“Same here.” I said. Everyone else was staring at me shocked and I was shocked at myself as well.
I don’t know how long it’s been since I haven’t had to force a fake smile.
And now looking at this handsome stranger I felt for the first time in months, hope.

Everyone finally stopped staring at us and he sat down next to me. His body was warm like Sam
and all of his friends. I don’t know what Quil was going about earlier but he smelled fine to me, like
the forest. It had a wood, earth like scent.
The atmosphere here was more pleasant than it was before.
“So what brings you to La Push?” he asked, his chocolate brown eyes piercing mine.
“My dad kicked me out.” I replied honestly. It seems like he hasn’t found much about me yet.
“Why?” he wondered.
I couldn’t look at him anymore.
“He thought I needed to get away from there, he was right.” I replied honestly.
“So where have you been?” I asked before we went deeper into that subject
“Same reason you came here I guess, I needed to get away.” He said, his voice sullen. I regretted
the question immediately.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pry or whatever I was doing.” I said looking back into his eyes.
“Don’t apologize, no harm done.” He said smiling again.

A natural smile formed on my lips again. Why did he have this effect on me?
Sitting next to this stranger I felt content, I felt right. For the first time in a long time I felt like I
could be healed.
4. Monsters

“So how you liking La Push so far? He asked me. I like the fact that he kept our conversation light.
“I love it, it’s so peaceful and everyone’s extremely friendly.” I answered.
He chuckled. “Well I guess you’ve never seen anyone on their bad side then. The worst part about
this place is that you never seem to get any privacy, there is always someone around
eavesdropping.” He said and then glared at the other guys.
I realized then that they were all quietly watching the two of us.
Jared immediately looked away whistling, pretending he didn’t get caught staring at us.
Paul took a big bite from his hotdog.
Seth scratched the back of his head embarrassedly.
“Sorry Jake, it’s just that you’ve got her talking more than she usually does.” Embry admits.
“I wonder why that is?” Quil teased, winking at Jacob.
I frowned wondering the same thing.

“I’m gonna go.” I said standing up. Jacob looked dishearten as he heard this. “Don’t worry, I’ll be
seeing you around.” I said quickly without thinking. It actually mattered to me that he was upset. I
wanted to cheer him up.
It worked, he lightened up. “You can count on that.” He told me.
“But you just arrived.” Embry complained.
“I’m beat.” Was all I said.
I turned and said “Later.” A bunch of goodbyes came from their group.
Before I was out of earshot I hear Jacob yell angrily at them. “Look what you guys done! You made
her leave!”
“Well it was nice to hear her say more than just two or three words for once.” Embry told him.
“Has she really talked that little?” Jacob wondered aloud.
“Yeah, and not once have I seen that pretty girl smile until tonight.” Jared said.

I felt a warm tingling in my cheeks and I knew I was blushing. What was happening with me? I
wondered.
I told Emily and Sam that I was tired and that I was going to go home.
“Be careful.” Sam warned after I denied his offer on driving me home. I told him I wanted to walk.

The full moon shone enough light for me to see the trail towards home. I walked slowly and
quietly, enjoying the scenery and the silence. Since I walked every morning to the beach and back
I knew the way like it was the back of my hand.

“I won’t have a human like you around my Damian.” Alyssa said. “And why not? Afraid of the
competition?” I countered.
She smirked. “There’s no completion Eva, he’s mine.”
I gave in, she was right. He was in love with her, not me
“It’s his decision if he wants to see me or not.” I told her.
“He’ll be leaving with me and my sisters. He won’t be seeing you anymore.” She said, her smirk
grew more pronounced.
I was distraught. Damian’s leaving? I’m never going to see the love of my life again?
She frowned. “What are you?” She asks annoyed.
I just glared at her. “What are you talking about?” I asked.
“You’re not human! I would be hearing your thoughts right now! you should be feeling pain right
now!” She said angrily.
“F*ck you Alyssa. Stop playing around and fly me home.” I ordered annoyed.
“I’m a witch not a f*cking bird.” She scowled.
“Whatever, just bring me home.” I told her.

I stared into the dark woods where the moonlight didn’t shine and saw something move. It was
unbelievably fast and very white.
I hissed under my breath. Filthy leeches! It’s bad enough that they stalked the night in New York,
why did they have to be in such a humble place as well? I quickly hurried home.

Once home I changed into my pajamas brushed my teeth and then got into bed, making sure that
my speakers were playing mellow music.
Since Damian became a part of my life I’ve been thrown into a world that I never believed existed.
Amongst mortal people walked along Supernatural beings.
I didn’t believe it at first when I found out but once Alyssa started flying around in her broomstick I
immediately changed my opinion.
Damian was in love with a witch and they were going to get married in England. Once they’re wed,
Damian will acquire some of Alyssa’s powers, making him a wizard and a part of that world as
well.

“Are you alright?” Damian asked me after pounding at my door at the middle of the night. I stared
at him. Ever since he told me he was in love with Alyssa he never bothered to show his face
around me and now he’s standing in front of my door looking at me worriedly.
“What’s it to you?” I asked coldly.
He cringed at my tone. “Alyssa hexed you and I… I wanted to make sure you were ok.” He said,
his eyes filled with pain.
I fought the urge to comfort him.
“Yeah I’m just peachy. You can go back to your precious Alyssa now.” I said closing the door but
he stopped me.
“Eva, you’re supposed to be unconscious now. She put a spell on you.” He said sternly.
I stared into his eyes. “Sorry to disappoint both of you but I’m still here.”
“I got angry with her when she told me what she did, and then I came to see if you were ok.
Please don’t be like this.” He pleaded.
“Is that all?” I asked.
“One more thing.” He said.
I tapped my foot, pretending to be impatient while glaring at him.
“Evaline White.” He said pronouncing my full name.
He hesitated, thinking it over then he said. “Eva, you’re not human. You’re immortal. I don’t know
what kind of being you are but Eva, no human could have not dodged a spell cast by Alyssa.”

5. Be My Escape

I don’t know if this was true or not and honestly I never cared because a few days after he told me
this he left me and my whole world shattered apart.
I tried not to think of my past and focused on the calm mellow music. Suddenly Jacobs smiling face
appeared in my head.
I fell asleep hoping to see him again soon.

I woke up the next morning and got dressed. The kitchen was empty when I entered it. On the
table there was a note from Emily.

With Sam in Port Angeles. The sun is shining brightly today, enjoy it!
Love, Emily

I looked out the window and became aware of the brightness. No way was I going to spend this
day in doors, like every morning I decided to go to the beach.
After eating breakfast I walked quietly to the beach. I thought about Jacob and wondered why I felt
this invisible pull towards him, like I was supposed to be with him.
I think I’m going crazy.
From the not so far off cliff I saw the guys jump, I wondered if Jacob was with them. I always
wanted to try cliff diving, feel the rush or so it was called. But I decided against it.

The summer days were slowly coming to an end, school was going to start in two weeks. I’ve
never thought about it until now, I wondered if I was going to school with Jacob, if we’ll have the
same classes. I really hoped we would.
Hope? Since when did I hope?
I felt as if Jacob awakened me from some sort of slumber I was in.

I stayed at the beach until just before sunset. Once I arrived home I helped Emily prepare dinner.
“So what did you do today?” She asked.
I shrugged. “Just hung out at the beach, the weather was beautiful.”
“You didn’t hang out with the guys?” She asked surprised.
“No.” I replied.
Her eyebrows creased. “Why?” I asked, curious now.
It was her turn to shrug. “I don’t know, I thought you’d be getting to know Jake a little better.” She
replied.
I pursed my lips. “Maybe he doesn’t want to get to know me.” I admitted feeling disappointed.
She laughed. “Believe me honey. He’s interested.” Was all she said.
I blushed but didn’t ask how she would know. She seemed pleased with my reaction.

That night I planned on seeing Jacob the next day, Emily would probably tell me where he lived
and Sam would probably drive me there.

I woke up the next morning surprised. I slept through the whole night, with no nightmare
whatsoever, I don’t think I even dreamed. I felt great.

To my dismay Emily and Sam weren’t here. They probably went grocery shopping, the fridge
always had to be full when the guys came over.
While eating breakfast, I heard a knock on my door.
To my surprise and pleasure it was Jacob.
“Hey Jacob.” I greeted him. “It’s Jake.” He flashed a big grin and naturally I answered it with my
own. “Sam and Emily aren’t here right now.” I said, immediately thinking he wanted to see Sam.
“I was looking for you actually.” He said scratching the back of his head embarrassedly.
I blushed slightly. What was going on with me?
“Oh, what’s up?” I asked.
“You wanna hangout today? You know get to know each other better and stuff.” He said. I
shrugged. “Sure.”

He grinned again. “Great. You wanna head to the beach?” he asked. “Yeah, that was where I was
planning to go before you showed up.” I lied and then locked the door behind me. It was almost
hot outside.

“So you like the beach huh?” He guessed. “Yep.” I told him, focusing on the trail in front of me. His
silence urged me to continue. “I go there every morning. I love hearing the waves crash onto the
shore, its soothing.”
“Sunrise’s and Sunset’s are the best.” He told me. I just nodded.
The rest of the way to the beach we were mostly silent. He told me that not much happened after I
left last night, so I didn’t miss anything. He told me that everyone’s happy having me here. I had
the feeling he was trying to cheer me up.
In a small way, it did.
Once we got to the beach we sat next to each other on the sand.

I would sneak quick glances at him whenever I could. I couldn’t deny that he was handsome and I
loved his eyes. He seemed to be silently arguing with himself about something.
“So what’s your story?” He finally said.
“Didn’t Emily already tell you?” I asked, guessing that the two of them talked after I left.
“She just said you’ve been through a lot. Everyone else says you’re usually so distant, like you’re
thoughts are somewhere else, that’s why you never talk much.” He said.
I hesitated and then looked at him, he was staring at me. The pain of his past still hasn’t left his
eyes. “I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours.” I mumbled.

He frowned. “There’s not much to tell.” He said.

I turned my gaze back to the ocean. “Try me.” I dared.
He chuckled, “Alright deal. You start.” He said, giving in.

I sighed and kept my glance towards the ocean. “His name was Damian. He moved to New York
about a year and a half ago. We hanged out a lot and were pretty close. Stupid as I was I fell in
love with him and the day I told him was the day he told me he was in a relationship with… this
girl from my school and well, they both left to England together. As you can see I didn’t handle it
all too well.”
I put it in simply, making it not sound as bad as it really was.

Silence.

I turned to look at his reaction and wondered why he’s so quiet. “Jacob?” I asked seeing the
surprised expression on his face.
“Are you ok?” I asked him and then he nodded.
“My stories exactly like yours only her name was Bella.” He told me.
“Exactly like mine?” I asked curiously, urging the story out him.

“Almost. She was with this… guy and he left her, she was a mess after that and I tried to help her
get over it, stupid as I was I fell in love with her and well, he came back and she chose him over
me.” he said, his voice pained.
He seemed to hide a lot as well but it didn’t matter, at least I know what happened, the overall
story.
“Life’s tough.” I said.
He chuckled. “No shit.” He replied.

Suddenly a loud howl came from the forest and Jacob perked up, as if it was calling him. “Umm I
have to go. I just remembered I have to do something… important.” Jacob said, getting up.
“Alright.” I said, hiding my disappointment.

“I’ll see you later?” He asked hopefully.

“Later.” I said flatly. He looked at me troubled but then left. “Stupid pack.” He whispered under his
breath but I heard him.

It looks like Jacob and the rest of the gang have been hiding something from me. I don’t believe I
haven’t seen it earlier, it was pretty obvious.
The Quileute legends were based on facts, how tribe members could shift themselves into Wolves,
they would fend away Vampires and other beings that could hurt their tribe. They were protectors,
Sam and the rest of the boys. They were shape shifters.

And for some reason that made me curious. I wanted to know so much about them but if I
confronted Jacob, he’d wonder how I knew about shape shifters and how quickly believed in a silly
thing like that. He might tell me one day, I should be patient; I’ve had enough of that world
anyway.
Now I just wanted to sit on the beach under the sun.
Jacobs face appeared in my mind again. His handsome features awakened something in me that I
thought died long ago. Even though he wasn’t exactly human, his warm hearted smile and
piercing chocolate brown eyes wouldn’t leave my thoughts.

It was then I realized that I was attracted to Jacob Black.

6. Love At First Sight

*Jacob’s POV*

When I arrived at the Bonfire everyone was already there. “Jake!” I heard Billy yell once he saw
me. “Hey Dad.” I said as enthusiastically as I could. “Are you back for good?” he asked. I
shrugged, “Probably.” I told him.
He frowned at my appearance and all of a sudden he lightened up.
“You should go see the others, they’ll be happy to introduce you to someone.” He told me.
I raised an eyebrow. “Dad I think it’s too soon to-“

“Just meet her.” He interrupted me and turned his wheelchair to talk to Sue. What a welcome. I
thought sarcastically. Might as well get it over with. I walked towards the guys, spotting a girl
sitting between Quil and Embry, before I could get a good look at her Quil saw me and said. “Well
look who’s back!”
They all got up to greet me covering my view to the silent girl.
“Jake! It’s been too long man.” Embry said.
“La Push hasn’t been the same without you’re big mouth.” Jared told me.
“You ever thought of showering before coming to the bonfire? You stink.” Quil teased.
“Yeah. Nice seeing you guys too.” I said. I didn’t realize how much I missed my friends.
“Jake we’d like you to meet someone.” Quil suddenly said.
“This is Eva White. Eva, this here is Billy’s son, Jacob Black.” Embry introduced us.
I was able to finally see the girl and my eyes widened. Pain was written in her almost black eyes,
as if she’s been through so much and I felt a sudden urge to comfort this stranger. Her skin was so
pale she looked weak and was a mess but she was very beautiful.
I realized then that nothing else seemed to matter anymore. Eva White, this stranger was all that
mattered to me, all I wanted was to make her happy, I wanted to be everything she wants and
needs.
Oh. I thought. Relief overwhelmed me.
So this is what it feels like. I felt the others grin widely, they knew.
I didn’t believe this would ever happen, I, Jacob Black have finally imprinted.

All I wanted to tell this beautiful stranger that I loved her and from now on she was my world.
Keep it light.
“Nice to meet you Eva.” I said, saying her name with delight.
She looked at me with eyes wide. I couldn’t help but smile at her surprised expression. She smiled
weakly but it was real, I felt everyone stiffen with shock beside me. I wondered why and planned
to ask them later.
“Same here.” She said quietly, her voice harmonically ringing in my ears.

With ease I took a seat down next to her. It felt so right, like I belonged at her side. “So what
brings you to La Push?” I asked curiously looking into her eyes. They were so full of secrets. “My
dad kicked me out.” She replied.
Why would someone want someone so beautiful and so interesting out of their life?
How would you know she’s interesting? You don’t even know her yet.
Just look into her eyes.
I argued with myself.
“Why?” I heard myself ask.
She looked away, hiding the agony that was visible in the depths of her eyes. “He thought I
needed to get away from there, he was right.” She replied.
She was honest and I liked that.
I was burning with curiosity but I kept it to myself.
“So where have you been?” She asked, she was curious about me as well. Bella’s face appeared
on my mind. “Same reason you came here I guess, I needed to get away.” I said sullenly.
She apologized and I smiled. I was happy I came back, I had a reason to live again and I was
looking at the person who gave me my life back.
“Don’t apologize, no harm done.” I kept it light.
She smiled again, I wish I could bring it out more. I wanted to make her laugh and joke around, to
make her forget about her pain.
She seemed content; the warmth of my body didn’t seem to bother her. That was a good sign. “So
how you liking La Push so far? I asked, keeping the conversation light.
“I love it, it’s so peaceful and everyone’s extremely friendly.”She answered. I was satisfied with
her answer but then I got annoyed at the guys who were staring at us rudely.
“Well I guess you’ve never seen anyone on their bad side then. The worst part about this place is
that you never seem to get any privacy, there is always someone around eavesdropping.” I glared
at the guys and the most of them pretended as if they haven’t been caught.
“Sorry Jake, it’s just that you’ve got her talking more than she usually does.” Embry admits.
“I wonder why that is?” Quil teased, winking at me.
My mood quickly changed. I made her talk. I was overjoyed.
She frowned, looking troubled.

“I’m gonna go.” She said standing up. No. Was all I could think, I couldn’t hide my disappointment.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be seeing you around.” She reassured me, I liked the sound of that. “You can
count on that.” I told her.
Embry then complained. “But you just arrived.”
She shrugged. “I’m beat.” Was all she told him.

I watched her walk over towards Emily and Sam, once she was out of earshot I yelled angrily.
“Look what you guys done! You made her leave!” I was annoyed.
“Well it was nice to hear her say more than just two or three words for once.” Embry said.
“Has she really talked that little?” I spoke my thoughts out loud.
“Yeah and not once have I seen that pretty girl smile until tonight.” Jared said.
I grinned a little smugly. I made her smile. I thought proudly.

“She’s related to Emily?” I asked, seeing the two of them talk, guessing that she stayed with
Emily. “Yeah she’s her niece actually.” Embry told me. “She’s from New York.”
I continued watching her as she walked towards the Forest alone. I stood up in rage and stomped
over to Sam. “How could you just let her go home alone?” I demanded, outraged.
His eyes widened in surprise and after understanding the look in my eyes he smiled. “Emily, it
looks like Jacob just imprinted on your niece.” He said turning to his fiancée.
Emily’s eyes widened in surprise as well and then she beamed. “She’s been through a lot too Jake,
you two will be good for each other.” She said.
Still angry I asked. “Why did you let her go home alone? Its dark and the way is pretty long.”
“She didn’t want me to drive her home. She prefers being alone and she knows the trail like the
back of her hand. She’s not Bella, Jake, she can take care of herself.” Sam said.
It astonished me that that name ceased to mean anything to me anymore. All I cared about was
Eva and if she was safe.

I turned my back on them and said. “If it were that way she wouldn’t be here now would she.”
Before dashing into the forest after Eva.
Once in the forest I phased into my wolf form. Damn. Those were my last pants. I thought irritated.
I spotted Eva walking slowly on the trail towards Emily’s house. She looked so peaceful under the
moonlight. I kept my distance, not wanting her to see me.
I didn’t know this girl and yet I wanted to know everything about her, I wanted to know what’s
causing her pain and I wanted to take it away from her.
Again curiosity washed over me.
She looked into the forest, she seemed to have spotted something because she glared towards it
and her pace towards home quickened. I moved swiftly to the spot she was looking at and
wrinkled my nose.

Filthy leeches. I thought with disgust, but it was a scent I didn’t recognize.

I followed Eva to Emily’s house and waited until Sam and Emily returned. Sam saw me pacing in
the forest near their house and phased as well.
A leech was in the forest. I informed him immediately.
Who? He wondered.
Not a scent I recognize but it didn’t follow Eva here. I told him.
Good. We’ll talk to the others tomorrow and search the forest. Maybe I’ll have a talk with the
Cullens, maybe they’re having friends over…

I grimaced, disgusted by hearing the name. Just because we made a good team in the past
doesn’t mean we were friends. I don’t care what the others think about them, but they’re not OK
in my part.

Go home Jake, Billy will be glad to have you under his roof again. And you do need a shower. He
thought snorting.
Alright. I’ll see you tomorrow. I said and toddled home.

7. All For You

*Jacob’s POV*

Billy, of course, was happy to have me home and he apparently already knew about me imprinting
on Eva.
“So Emily’s niece huh?” He said as I gobbled down the leftovers I heated up. I was hungry. He
didn’t seem so surprised about it.
In my mind Eva’s beautiful face appeared and I couldn’t help but smile. “I’ll take that as a yes.” My
dad said chuckling.
“It’s so weird, I mean I don’t even know her but she’s the most important person to me now.” I
told him honestly. “Now you have all the time you want to get to know her.”
I loved the sound of that.
“It would be nice to see her true self though.” He continued.
“What do you mean?” I asked.
“Don’t you notice? She’s miserable, about something or someone. She’s always so quiet and
distant. But I bet she used to be more alive.”
I nodded. He was right and I swore to myself that I’m going to be the one who’ll fix her just like
she fixed me.

I said goodnight to my dad. I had to admit sleeping on my old bed was comforting; it was nice to
be back home. I couldn’t fall asleep though. I saw Eva’s almost black eyes in my mind, something
about them were so different. I’ve never seen eyes with such deepness, not even Bella had such
eyes.
I wanted to see her as soon as possible but she would probably think I’m weird if I showed up in
her house the next morning so I decided to wait.
The next day I hung out with the guys. Eva didn’t leave my mind, I wondered if she was safe, if she
was happy. The others wanted to go cliff diving and I followed, needing the rush.
“I can’t believe you imprinted on Emily’s niece!” Paul said, playfully punching your shoulder.
“Neither can I. I mean I don’t know the girl and yet…” I didn’t finish the sentence, Eva’s weak
smile came to my mind, thinking of kissing those full lips sent a current throughout my body, one
I’ve never experienced before.
“You think she’ll like me?” I asked hopefully.
“Dude the first time she saw you she smile and it was real.” Quil said. You looked at him confused.
“She’s a mess Jake, you can’t deny that. Even worse than Bella ever was.” Quil explained.
“But what happened to her?” You wondered.
“Her dad told Emily it was about some guy but that’s all we know.” He replied.
“She never said more than three or four words around us but she never complained either.
Whenever we hung out she was just there, quiet and thinking deeply. She likes it here though,
that’s what she told me. She’d rather be here than in New York.” Embry said.
The meeting to look for the bloodsucker was placed in the woods. Sam didn’t talk to the Cullens
yet so we didn’t know if it was a friend of theirs or not. It didn’t matter to me, they were in our
land.
That didn’t stop us from scanning the forest for the leech or any scent of it. Unfortunately we
found nothing.
Again as I lay down on my bed and stared up at my roof I thought about Eva. I needed to see her
soon, so I decided to visit her the next morning.

I got up and Billy wasn’t home, he was probably at Sue’s. I munched down some Cereal for
breakfast and made my way to Emily’s house, hoping I wasn’t too early.
I knocked three times and waited. To my delight, Eva answered the door. “Hey Jacob.” She
greeted, looking up at me. Hearing her say my name sent shivers down my spine. Her almost
black eyes were just as mesmerizing as they were two nights ago; they were shining in the light
now though.
“It’s Jake.” I said grinning ear to ear.
“Sam and Emily aren’t here right now.” she said, immediately jumping to the conclusion that I
wanted to see Sam.
I scratched the back of my head suddenly embarrassed. “I was looking for you actually.” I
admitted.
She blushed, which made my confidence stronger. I bet the guy never seen her blush neither.
“Oh, what’s up?” She asked.
“You wanna hangout today? You know, get to know each other better and stuff.” Again I kept it
light; I didn’t want her to think I’m some obsessed maniac. I wanted to spend the whole day with
Eva, in fact I never wanted to leave her sight.
“Sure.” She agreed shrugging.
Again I grinned widely, happy she agreed to spend her time with me. As usual she gladly returned
it with her own but it was weak. I had to have patience.

“Great. You wanna head to the beach?” I asked her. “Yeah, that was where I was planning to go
before you showed up.” She told me. She liked the beach and she seemed to be enjoying the
warm weather. Luckily the weather was on my side today.

“So you like the beach huh?” I said, paying attention to her face. “Yep.” She said, looking straight
ahead. I frowned and waited for her to say more. “I go there every morning. I love hearing the
wave’s crash onto the shore, it’s soothing.” She continued.
So did I. We had things in common, another good sign.
“Sunrise’s and Sunset’s are the best.” I said. She just nodded in agreement.
I tried to cheer her up in small ways, saying that she didn’t miss much after she left and that how
everyone’s happy about having her here, which was an understatement. Everyone’s overjoyed
with having her here; especially once they found out she was the one I imprinted on.
Once we got to the beach we sat next to each other on the sand.
She seemed comfortable next to me but she was quiet, staring into the horizon. I stared at the
ocean, wondering if I could ask her what happened, wondering how I could ask her without making
it come out wrong. I wanted to know so badly.
“So what’s your story?” I heard myself ask, did it sound like I was prying? Or just curious?
She bit her lip and her eyebrows creased. “Didn’t Emily already tell you?” She asked.
“She just said you’ve been through a lot. Everyone else says you’re usually so distant, like you’re
thoughts are somewhere else, that’s why you never talk much.”
I said, remembering what the guys and my dad told me.
Was I being rude? Her almost black eyes were piercing mine.
Before I could apologize she mumbled. “I’ll tell you mine if you tell me yours.”
I frowned, so it was still visible in my eyes. To me it felt like a nightmare from a dark past, my light
was sitting next to me. She was all that mattered now.
“There’s not much to tell.” I said, which was true.
She looked back towards the ocean. “Try me.” She almost dared.
She was interested, how could I deny such a girl?
“Alright deal. You start.” I said.

Even though she wasn’t looking at me, I could see the agony in her eyes. Her hands clenched into
fists, she seemed to try to control herself.

“His name was Damian. He moved to New York about a year and a half ago. We hanged out a lot
and were pretty close. Stupid as I was I fell in love with him and the day I told him was the day he
told me he was in a relationship with… this girl from my school and well, they both left to England
together. As you can see I didn’t handle it all too well.” She said, she made it sound simple, as if it
were not that bad, and I could tell there were a lot of things she left out. I was surprised though,
her story was almost like mine and almost like Bella’s. If this Damian would come back for her,
would she choose him?
No, this was different. She was not Bella. This guy left her for someone else and not for her safety
She turned to me examining my reaction, I tried to keep my face straight. “Jacob?” She asked and
I looked at her surprised. Again, the way she said my name sent shivers down my spine. It was a
very, very pleasant feeling.
“Are you ok?” She asked and I nodded.
She was waiting for me to start.
“My story’s exactly like yours only her name was Bella.” I said, I didn’t like mentioning her name.
“Exactly like mine?” She pushed, she was a curious girl and I just wanted to make her happy.
I sighed. “Almost. She was with this… guy and he left her, she was broken after that and I tried to
help her get over it, stupid as I was I fell in love with her and well, he came back she chose him
over me.” I said, again I wondered if Eva would do the same thing, I wouldn’t be able to take the
pain if that happened.

“Life’s tough.”She said.

I chuckled. How right she was. “No shit.” I replied.
Suddenly Sam howled from the forest. I forgot that I had to meeting up with the others, Sam
finally was supposed to talk to the Cullens today, I wondered what’s new.
I struggled to find something to excuse myself from Eva. “Umm I have to go. I just remember I
have to do something… important.” I said. Nice one. I thought to myself sarcastically as I got up.
“Alright.” She said, in a monotone.
“I’ll see you later?” I asked hopeful.
“Later.” She said flatly. I gazed at her for a moment, wondering if I upset her. I had to see the pack
though, I don’t want a bloodsucker near Eva.
I left muttering “Stupid pack.” Under my breath.

Once I was in the forest and out of sight I took my pants and t-shirt off, tying each of them around
a leg and phased into my wolf form.
Anything new? I asked the guys.
Finally he phased. Paul thought.
Yeah Jake what took so long? Quil asked.
Unconsciously I thought of Eva and I sitting on the beach and our little conversation.
Oh. All of them thought at the same time, they now knew what happened to Eva, why she acted
this way.
I finally met them near Forks. Sam told me that the Cullens didn’t have any friends over so the
leech that was in our forest last night was an enemy. Sam then ordered us to make rounds, check
every part of our land if there was any fresh scent of the bloodsucker.
Unfortunately no one picked up a fresh scent.
Before sunset I then decided to go back to the beach, have a little time for myself, I phased into
me and walked towards to the beach.
To my surprise Eva was still sitting on the same spot I left her on, as if she hadn’t budged.
“Eva?” I asked, not sure if I should sit down next to her.
She seemed to snap out of whatever thoughts she was in and looked up at me surprised. “Were
you here the whole day?” I asked. Her cheeks were slightly red but there was no serious sun burn.
She nodded.
“Done doing whatever you had to do that was important?” She asked.
It was my turn to nod and I sat down next to her.
“I’m sorry about leaving you before, that was rude.” I apologized.
“It doesn’t matter.” She said and then pointed out “You came back.”
“Were you waiting for me?” I asked but doubting it.
“I lost track of time actually.” She said, staring at the horizon, the sun was going to set.
I noticed Goosebumps on her skin. “Are you cold?” I asked.
She shrugged but didn’t answer. Unsurely I put my arm around her, this surprised her at first but
instead of pulling away she snuggled closer.
“Thanks.” She muttered.
I chuckled with delight. “No problem.”
She was the one for me, we were meant to be with each other. I thought optimistically as we
watched the sun set.

8. Act Naturally

*Eva’s Pov*

While I was sitting alone on the beach I was ready for the memories to come flowing back but it
didn’t. Instead Jacob’s face formed in my mind again.

I wondered how Bella look like, how he acted towards her. Unwillingly I got jealous, to have
someone love her so much, how could she be so stupid to let him go?
Probably because the one who left her was the one she loved more.

Again I thought of Jacob and the guys. Jacob was probably like them before, before Bella. He was
as carefree and happy, more than he was now. I wanted to be carefree and happy again. And for
the first time since Damian left me I wanted to try being me again. To laugh a long with Jacob and
the guys, to flirt, to joke around, I didn’t know if it was possible though.

The sun felt good on my skin, I didn’t want the sun to stop shining. At least not for now and I didn’t
want to leave the beach.
Again I waited for the pain to come but it didn’t. I waited for numbness but instead I felt myself
flush as I imagined Jacob’s lips on mine.

“Eva?” I heard a familiar voice say, snapping me out of my trail of thoughts. How long was I here?
I looked up at Jacob surprised, why did he come back here? “Were you here the whole day?” He
asked. I realized the sun was slowly setting.
I nodded.
“Done doing whatever you had to do that was important?” I asked, hoping he wasn’t going to
leave again.
He nodded and sat down next to me. I felt the warmness of his body and realized that it was
growing cold
“I’m sorry about leaving you before that was rude.” He apologized, truthfully.
“It doesn’t matter.” I said and then pointed out “You came back.” I didn’t want to mention how
happy that made me.
“Were you waiting for me?” He asked almost teasingly.
“I lost track of time actually.” I said, looking away. I didn’t know what else to say, shouldn’t I tease
back? Or was it too soon?
“Are you cold?” He asked, did he notice the goose bumps on my skin?
I shrugged, I was used to the cold. Slowly and unsurely he put his around me. I was surprised and
thrilled at the same time. I snuggled closer to him, he was just so warm.
“Thanks.” I muttered.
He chuckled lightly. “No problem.”
I felt as if it was supposed to be this way and I almost forgot about my past as we watched the
sunset. Almost.

We quietly watched the last strains of light disappear into the horizon. I wanted to stay this way
forever. “You wanna head back?” he asked me quietly, his chin on my head.
No. I thought but Emily would start looking for me soon. “I guess we should.” I told him and he
took his arm away from my shoulder. The cool wind blue and I shivered.
I looked up at him and saw him look down at me worriedly. “Here take this.” He said and before I
could say anything he took off his shirt and handed it to me. “It’ll help.” He said.
My eyes were on his half naked body. He was strong, I thought. And his 6 pack and muscles
proved that but he wasn’t too bulky which was good.
“Are you ok?” He asked and I tore my gaze from his body and to his eyes. He was grinning
impishly which made me brush furiously. I was too obvious.
“Sorry, you just took me by surprise.” I said.
“What you didn’t think this was under my shirt?” He teased pointing to his body.
“Actually with the shirt on you look like a beanpole.” I heard myself say, this was an automatic
response coming from the old me. The person I was before Damien.
The look on his face threw me off the edge and I started giggling. He was shocked and slightly
embarrassed, his wide eyes and crooked smile proved that.
Once I giggled a wide grin exchanged his other expressions. “Ah the pretty girl can giggle too.” He
exclaims taking his shirt from me and putting it over my head.
I put his shirt on and it was so big it reached just above my knees. A dark cloud managed to cover
the moon and I almost couldn’t see anything anymore, just Jacobs figure in front of me. “C’mon
let’s get you home before you catch a cold.” Jacob said, caringly.

He grabbed my hand and started leading the way home. “How old are you Eva?” he asked me as
we walked in the darkness. His warm hand felt soft around mine; again it felt right, like it belonged
there.
“I’m 17, you?” I asked, I actually wondered how old he was. “Me too.” He replied. I stopped in
surprise. “Seriously 17? You could pass for a 22 year old!” I said in awe.
He chuckled. “Yeah I get that a lot.” He said.
“You up for going out of the Rez tomorrow?” he asked suddenly once we continued walking
“With you?” I asked hopefully.
“Of course.” He said.
“Well where did you plan on going?” I wondered.
“Seattle, get our fill of the city.” He told me.
“I come from the City, not much to see. But I’ve never been to Seattle so sure.” I told him.
“How are we going to go there?” I don’t remember the last time I talked this much.
“I got a ride.” He said chuckling.
I realized we were walking close together, his warm fingers intertwined with mine, our arms
grazing each others. I almost forgot he was shirtless.
“Aren’t you cold?” I wondered.
“Nope.” He said, I could see his white teeth flash in the dark.
Must be a wolf thing I thought.
It was a comfortable silence as we walked to Emily’s house. Emily and Sam were sitting on the
porch when we arrived.
Emily beamed at us as she saw us holding hands and that I was wearing Jacob’s shirt. I blushed
furiously. What would they think of me? I just met Jacob last night!
Sam grinned. “Yeah, Eva couldn’t take a little cold weather.” Jacob teased.
I snorted. “Jake just wanted a reason to take off his shirt.” I said evenly. Emily and Sam just stared
at me in surprise.
“It is cold. Maybe the two of you should come inside.” Emily said slowly, looking at the both of us
and then beaming again.
To my delight Jacob came inside. Instinctively I took off his shirt and gave it back to him. “Thanks.”
I muttered.
“Couldn’t stand me half naked eh?” He teased again.
I couldn’t help but smile at him. I liked everything about this guy, especially the fact that even
though he had been through a lot he can still smile, laugh and joke around, and the fact that he
can make me do those things as well.
“Yeah if I had to look at your body one more time I’d have to hurl.” I joked, actually if he didn’t put
a shirt on I wouldn’t be able to stop myself from looking at his half naked body.
He laughed, not offended at all.
“Would you guys go up to Eva’s room? You’re too loud, we’re trying to watch some TV.” Sam said.
I realized the he and Emily were sitting on the couch.
I blushed. “Am I allowed to?” He asked me, his eyes filled with hope.
I shrugged. “Sure.”

We made our way up the stairs and entered my room. “Cool room.” He commented. When I was
not in the beach or when the guys weren’t showing me around the Rez I spent some time
decorating my room, putting up all my old posters of my favorite bands. Emily even allowed me to
draw on them and so I did.
I put effort in my room because it was my space and I wanted to be comfortable in it.
“Thanks.” I said sitting on the couch while he laid on my bed.
“So summer vacation is almost over. Where will you going to school?”
I groaned. I almost forgot about school. He frowned. “I know how you feel.” He put in.
I chuckled lightly. “Emily told me I’ll be going to school here.” I answered his question. His smile
almost brightened the dim lit room. “Great you’ll probably be in my class.” He said.
This boy has this glint in his eyes that I didn’t understand, as if I meant something to him, as if he
cared about me. I couldn’t believe it.
“Probably.” I agreed.

9. Heal Me

Jake didn’t stay long. When he saw me yawning he decided to leave to give me my beauty sleep
or so he put it.
Around him I always felt better, I felt whole and I never wanted to be away from his warmness.
After he left it was quiet and the coldness came back. I immediately missed his presence but I
couldn’t go to his house at this time, I mean he just left. What would he think of me?
I took a shower and got ready for bed.
The more time I spent with Jacob the more attracted I was to him and the more I felt like myself,
especially when he started showing his true self. He was a funny guy and until now he’s only
showed his good side. Aside for the pain that was written in his eyes from his past, he looked like
he was happy.
I fell asleep excited for the next day; I get the whole day with Jacob and no one else.

I was in the forest, not following the path to the beach. Again I saw the figure of a Vampire in front
of me. Instead of running away he was leaning against the bark of a tree.
He smiled at me, flashing his razor sharp canines and I backed away glaring at him.
“C’mon Eva, you aren’t really afraid of me, are you?” He asked, unsure.
I blinked. How did he know my name?
I stared at his familiar looking face, that familiar smile. “Damian?” I asked.
His smile widened. “I’ve missed you.” He said and made a move to come closer. I held my hands
palms forward in front of me. “Stay where you are.” I said coldly.
His eyes pained at my tone. I heard a familiar high pitched annoying laugh from behind me. “What
the f*ck do you guys want from me?!” I asked, annoyed.
“Honey, you’re thirsty. Let’s get this over with.” Alyssa told Damian, ignoring me. She grabbed my
shoulders.
I tried to shake her away but couldn’t.
Damian came over to us. “Don’t touch me!” I spat.
“I’m sorry Eva, you just smell so good.” He said, his now crimson eyes boring into mine. He bared
his fangs and leaned closer.
Before his fangs pierced my neck I let out a scream.

Luckily my screams were muffled against my pillow. I hope Sam and Emily didn’t hear me.
I sat up breathing heavily; assuring myself it was just a dream. I shivered at the memory of it.
I realized it was quiet, too quiet and turned on my music. Bon Iver’s soothing voice calmed me
down and the last thing I heard him sing was with the wild wolves around you before drifting into
unconsciousness.

I was torn. After getting up and washing my face I didn’t know what to wear. Should I wear the
usual large T-shirt, jeans and sneakers or something different? What would Jacob like? I couldn’t
believe I actually cared how I looked like to him. I wanted him to find me at least pretty.
Instead of being annoyed by this I was overjoyed. I was really changing, something about Jacob
was slowly healing me. I was finding all my lost pieces.

The summer days were still showing here, it was warm again and the sun was shining brightly
today. I settled for a floral striped Chiffon halter top and jean shorts.
I took a good look at myself in the mirror, thanks to yesterday my cheeks got a little color and I
didn’t look that dead anymore.
I fixed my hair, put on my low cut white converse shoes. I grabbed a pullover before making my
way downstairs for breakfast. It might get cold again later.
The pancakes Emily was making smelled incredible. “Good morning.” I said cheerfully. She turned
to look at me, her eyes narrowed at my face, measuring my mood and then she smiled. “You look
good today. Where are you going?” She asked.
I blushed. “I forgot to ask you. Jake invited me to go to Seattle today, can I go?” I asked.
“Of course you can go. When is he picking you up?” She asked. I shrugged, he didn’t tell me. Just
then Sam came from outside followed by Jacob.
My heart beat erratically as I looked into the warm chocolate brown eyes I’ve grown very fond of.
I saw how his eyes swiftly gazed down at my body and then back to my eyes. I grinned, from his
expression it looked like he liked what I chose to wear today.
“Just in time!” Emily exclaimed and put a plate piled with delicious pancakes on the table. We all
started eating breakfast.
“So how long will you guys be in Seattle?” Sam asked.
Jacob and I both shrugged. “Why does she have a curfew?” Jacob asked, his eyes narrowing. “No
but when you two are back Emily and I probably won’t be here.” Sam explained.
Did I miss something? “Where will you guys be?” I asked.
“We wanted to tell you yesterday but we forgot as well. We’ll be visiting a few relatives of Sam’s in
Chelan.” Emily replied.
“How long?” Jacob asked, facing Sam.
“A week.” Sam said.
I didn’t mind, they were probably going to plan their wedding with those relatives. It would be nice
for them and from her expression, Emily was really looking forward to it.
“What about Eva?” Jacob demanded.
I rolled my eyes. “I’m a big girl Jake, I can take care of myself.” I told him. He just winked at me
and turned to Sam.
“We thought that you should stay with her while were gone.” Sam said.
Could a heart burst with joy? One week with Jacob in the same house? This was going to be fun.
I couldn’t believe how excited I was, I couldn’t believe how fast I was changing. Of course I didn’t
let it show and kept my straight face. I gazed over at Jacob, he was grinning from ear to ear. “You
don’t mind do you Jake?” Sam asked, grinning as well.
“Not at all.” He said, his chocolate brown eyes piercing mine and it felt as if my heart skipped a
beat.

After we ate breakfast we said our goodbyes to Emily and Sam and were on our way to Seattle.
I was looking outside and into the forest, I suddenly remembered the nightmare I had the night
before and I shivered.
“Don’t tell me you’re cold.” Jake said while searching for a station on the radio.
“No. I just remembered a dream I had last night.” I told him.
“Nightmare?” He asked.
I nodded. “Well I’ll make sure you’ll have none of those while I’m staying with you.” He said, I
thought he was joking but there was no sign of teasing in his face.
Weird.
He finally found a station where Everything’s Magic by Angels and Airwaves was playing. He
tapped his fingers on the steering wheel to the rhythm of the song.

And do you ever feel like you're alone?

And do you ever wish you'd be unknown?

I could say that I have

I listened to the radio, totally content. Even though I wasn’t near Jacob I could still feel the
warmness coming from him.
“So what do you want to do in Seattle?” I asked, breaking the silence.
“Hmm.” He pondered.

Just sit back and hold on, but hold on tight

Prepare for the best and the fastest ride

And reach out your hand, and I'll make you mine

Everything, everything's magic

“Anything you want to do.” He finally said.

Now it was my turn to ponder. What do I want to do in the City?
And do you ever see yourself in love?

And do you ever take a chance, my love?

Because you know that I will.

“Did you want to buy anything?” He asked. I shrugged. “Not that I can think of.” I replied. “You?”
“Me neither. We can check out the city. Buy some ice cream and enjoy the weather.” He
suggested.
“Sounds good to me.” I told him.
Slowly he lifted his hand from the gearshift and reached out to take my hand. He frowned, “You
said you weren’t cold.” He told me.
I realized that my hands were cold, especially after feeling the difference between his body
temperature and mine. “I’m not cold Jake, you’re hot. It’s not my fault you’re a freak.” I informed
him.
“Thanks.” He said taking it as a compliment.
“For what?” I asked, annoyed at his reaction.
“You think I’m a hot freak.” He said chuckling.
I rolled my eyes and pulled my hands away from his. “You’re impossible.” I muttered.
“Impossible to resist. I know.” He teased, taking my hand again and holding it tighter so I couldn’t
pull away. I didn’t plan on pulling away from his grasp again, I loved the warmness of it.
He was very right about that but I kept it to myself.
I didn’t know what this exactly was to him. Was it just friendship or will it turn to something more?
I could be patient, it didn’t have to happen right away. As long as he was around me and made me
happy like he does, he doesn’t have to be more than a friend. It was hard to believe that I just met
this boy two nights ago. Everything was happening so fast and I didn’t mind at all. This was what I
wanted: To be happy, to be me again.
Unconsciously I thought of his warm lips pressed against mine and I felt tingles down my spine.

10. City Love

We finally arrived in Seattle and the sun was shining there too. Although Jake hasn’t been more
than twice in this city he seemed to know it pretty well.

As planned we bought some ice cream and our first stop was the Seattle Needle, we didn’t bother
sitting in the restaurant we were too busy staring at the view.
The view was beautiful. We got to see Mt. Rainier, the Olympic and Cascade Mountains and the
whole city from the top.
Our next stop was the Seattle Aquarium, watching the marine life was peaceful. Jacob kept his
warm fingers intertwined with mine, not wanting to lose me in this city.
Our last stop was the Pioneer Square. We were so exhausted from the entire site seeing and
walking that we decided to buy something to eat and drink and sit on a bench.
We bought a 2 liter bottle of coke and three sandwiches, two for him and one for me.
“I bet you I can chug down this bottle of coke without stopping.” He said, his eyes wanting me to
accept.
“Alright what happens if you can do it?” I asked cheerfully.
“I get to sleep with you tonight.” He said casually.
My eyes widened.
“I mean sleep! Don’t think that way.” He added seeing my reaction. “Unless…” he then says
slowly, eyeing me mischievously. I rolled my eyes. “I’d have to pass on that.” I said but the idea of
sleeping next to him didn’t sound bad at all, especially if I was in his arms.
“What happens if you can’t?” I asked.
He looked at me as if doubted that was going to happen. “You get to pick.” He said.
I grinned. “Alright, go ahead. Show me what you got.” I said.
He grinned and opened the bottle. He took a deep breath and started drinking. I watched in awe
as he drank the bottle empty, he didn’t pause at all.
I guess he was going to sleep with me tonight. I thought excitedly.
“I win.” He declared, squeezing the bottle. Before I could reply he stood up. “But now I need to go
to the bathroom.” He said embarrassedly. Out of spite I laughed.
“Will you wait here?” He demanded. “Actually I wanted to go to that music shop over there.” I said
pointing at the shop I was eyeing earlier.
He looked at me worriedly, as if something bad was going to happen to me in the few minutes he’s
away. “I can take care of myself Jake. Go find a public bathroom.” I almost ordered. He hesitated
then leaned down to plant a kiss on my forehead. “Take care.” He muttered in his husky voice and
stalked off to find a bathroom.
He left me breathless. There was no other way of seeing it, he wanted me the way I wanted him.
That look in his eyes that almost replaced the pain, the way he was always around. It had to be
that way.
I walked lightheaded towards the music shop.
Once inside I was completely distracted by all the beautiful guitars I almost forgot about Jacob’s
intentions.
I stroked a beautiful black acoustic guitar, it almost looked like mine. My guitar lay under my bed
in Emily’s house, rotting away because I stopped using it a very long time ago.
I decided to change that. I looked for the perfect strings that would match my guitar and bought
them. Jacob wasn’t there as I left the shop so I waited for him. He probably couldn’t find a
bathroom, I thought to myself.
I realized that the it grew darker and looked up, dark gray clouds covered the once blue skies. I
glared and put on my jacket. The streets were almost empty.
“Hey there pretty lady.” I heard an unfamiliar voice say.
I turned to see a guy standing behind me, eyeing me in a manner that disgusted me. He looked
between 20 and 25, his hair was cut so short he was almost bald and he was half a head taller
than me.
“What do you want?” I demanded rudely. His eyes snapped from my body to my eyes. “Just
wondering why a pretty girl like you is standing here all alone?” he asked.
I looked around and saw that the streets were empty. It didn’t matter I could take this guy. “I’m
waiting for someone.” I said showing no fear towards this creepy stranger.
“Is that so?” He asked, taking a step closer.
“Stay back.” I warned him.
“Or what?” He asked, I turned to walk away but he grabbed my wrist roughly and yanked me
towards him.

Before I could do anything the guy let go of my wrist and I realized Jacob was standing next to me,
shaking. I peeked up at him and saw his eyes filled with anger and hate. He was glaring at the
guy.
I smirked at the guy. “I told you I was waiting for someone.” I said.
The guy glared at me menacingly and Jacob took a step in front of me, protecting me from the
perve. He looked up at Jacob fearfully. “I’m sorry man. I was just looking for some fun, you know,
just teasing. Harmless.” He tried to explain to Jacob.
“Fun?” Jacob growled with disgust, he couldn’t stop shaking. “If you don’t leave now you’ll be
ending up in a hospital, or worse.” Jacob then threatened through clenched teeth.
The guy believed Jacob and made a run for it, of course stumbling twice while he ran. Jacob
continued shaking, even though he was out of sight.
I didn’t know what to do. “Jake?” I asked unsurely. He looked down into my eyes and immediately
stopped shaking. “And you said you can take care of yourself.” He said smiling grimly.
I scowled. “Of course I can, he just got me off guard.” I said and rubbed my wrist. It stung, I was
probably going to get a bruise tomorrow.
A loud clap of thunder made me jump.
Jacob frowned up at the sky. “I don’t think it would be a good idea to drive home in that tonight.”
He said.
He was right, the rain started pouring heavily and it was almost dark. “C’mon, I know a cheap
Motel we can stay in.” He said. He put his arm around my shoulder and by the time we reached
the Motel we were both soaking wet.
The room wasn’t that bad, the most important part was that it was warm. Jacob immediately took
off his shirt and hung it on the heater for it to dry.
I did the same with my jacket.
“Today wasn’t that bad.” I told him, he was very quiet.
He chuckled. “Except for the last part.” He said.
“It took me about ten minutes to find a bathroom, and then I had to wait in line. It was horrible.
After that it grew dark and from the look of it a storm was coming, I practically ran back to the
square and once I saw that guy grab you. It took every ounce of my self control to keep me from
attacking him.” He explained.
“But why?” I asked.
“He could’ve hurt you Eva or worse.” He thought grimacing.
That wasn’t what I meant but I let it go. “It would have never gone that far.” I said shrugging.
He rolled his eyes. “It’s over though right? No need to think about it anymore.” He said and I was
fine with that idea.

We watched some TV, from the window we could see the lightning and heard the thunder. Jacob
was on a chair and I was on the floor, neither of us wanted to wet the bed with our soaked clothes.
“When did he leave you?” Jacob then asked quietly.
“About 9 months ago.” I replied, knowing what he meant. For some reason it didn’t hurt talking
about him with Jacob.
“Does it still hurt?” He wondered aloud.
“Not when I’m around you.” I said quietly.
“Really?” He asked smiling. I looked at him and nodded, returning his smile with one of my own.
“Is that hard to believe?” I asked.
He shook his head. “Not really. It’s the same with me.” He said.
“Weird.” I said trying to hide my happiness, my theories were confirmed.
“Yeah.” He agreed.
“But do you still miss him sometimes?” He asked a minute later.
“I never really missed him. I felt more betrayed than anything else and it felt like when he left, he
took my heart with him. I felt empty and betrayed.” I tried to explain.
“And that’s what made things worse in New York, everything reminded me of him.” I whispered.
“Probably hard for you in La Push too huh.”
He shrugged. “It used to be.” Was all he said.
I stared at the TV, not paying any attention on what was showing.
“Well it’s been a long day and I’m beat.” He said stretching. “You don’t mind if I sleep in my
boxers? They’re the only things dry right now.” He asked. Not at all. I thought but said. “Only if
you have to”
“You can wear my shirt, they’re probably dry right now.” He then told me. I grabbed his shirt from
the heater and changed in the bathroom, leaving my bra and panties on.
I got in the bed next to him, he warmed it up nicely and it was so cozy.
“You know what Eva?” He said after turning off the lights.
“What?” I wondered.
“I’m glad you moved to La Push.” He said. I smiled.
“So am I.” I whispered.
10. Hold You in My Arms

I knew Jacob was asleep once he started snoring lightly. The warmth coming from his body was
amazing and I slid a little closer to him, wanting to absorb it all.
I heard the rain drops patter on the roof, it sounded like it was getting worse, the thunder and
lightning just didn’t stop. Jacob suddenly put his arm around me and pulled me to him. I smelled
his earth woody scent and listened to his light snores. Again being so close to him felt right. His
warm skin felt really good on mine.
Slowly the sound of the storm became faint and I drifted into unconsciousness.

I woke up the next morning having Jacob’s arm still around me, he looked comfortable enough. I
realized he was still in his boxers and a different feeling coursed through my veins. I shook it off.
Stupid teenage hormones. I thought frustrated at myself. I’ve never felt this way about Damian.
I tried to free myself from his grip which woke him up. He grinned seeing me in his arms. “Morning
sweetheart.” He teased. I rolled my eyes. “You can let go of me now, we should start driving back
to La Push.” I muttered, I hoped he didn’t notice my uneven breathing.

He tightened his hold around me and I couldn’t move at all. “I’m actually comfortable this way.”
He murmured, his lips on my hair. My heart almost leaped out of my chest.
I couldn’t look up at him, I knew what would happen if I did and I just wasn’t ready for that yet.
“Why are you so warm?” I brought up an entirely different subject. This worked; he released his
hold on me and got up. He shrugged not wanting to answer the question. I didn’t bother him any
further with it, if he wasn’t ready to tell me what he is then so be it.
In the bathroom I changed out of his large shirt and into my finally dry clothes. I then gave him his
shirt back.

The ride back to La Push was quiet, Jacob seemed troubled and I guessed that it had something to
do with this morning.
I turned on the radio and started looking for a good station, I didn’t like the awkward quietness
between us. There was only one with good frequency so I left it on that station.
The song that was playing sounded so familiar. I listened to it carefully and froze remembering
where I knew that song from. I stiffly turned off the radio. “I was listening to that.” Jacob then said,
turning it on again.

I bit my lip not wanting to tell Jacob why I didn’t want to listen to this song. I hugged myself
intending to hold myself together in case I fell apart. The memory came flooding back.

“So you’re afraid of heights huh?” Damian asked as we watched the Ferris Wheel turn, Charlotte
and Cole were already on it and making out. We were sitting on the bench facing each other and
listening to the music that was playing on the speakers. “A little bit.” I admitted.
He chuckled. “Did you have to move here or was it your choice?” I was curious.
“I wanted to move here. I like being in new places and meeting new people.” He said.
“That means you probably move around a lot.” I guessed.
“Yeah, more than the average person, but I never liked a place as much as I did here.” He said.
“Why’s that?” I asked, curiosity was burning in my eyes and he chuckled once more.
“Interesting people.” His eyes twinkled once he said that.

One Republic started playing on the speakers. “Wanna dance?” He asked. I looked at him waiting
for him to crack a grin, showing that he was just kidding around.
“Please?” He smiled making the butterflies flutter in my belly.
“Sure.” I managed to say.
He took my hand and led me to a quiet place where little people were around. There he wrapped
his arms around me and placed his chin on top of my head.

“Now I stared at you

From across the room

Until both my eyes were faded

I was in a rush

I was out of luck

Now I'm so glad that I waited

Well you were almost there

Almost mine...yeah
They say love ain't fair

But I'm doing fine...”

“And you’ve lived here all your life?” Damian asked as we moved slowly to the rhythm of the
song. “Yeah pretty much, but I don’t think I’m a city girl at heart.” I said, against his chest, I could
hear his heartbeat.
“Why not?” He wondered.
I shrugged, “I’m not comfortable being here I guess, I always have the feeling like I need to be
somewhere else but I have no idea where.”
“Well I hope you don’t move soon.” He teased.
Suddenly Alyssa and her sisters Dawn and Loretta walked past us, glaring at me menacingly.
Alyssa’s eyes held mine to hers, I couldn’t look away.

“Cause I swear it's you

I swear it's you

I swear it's you that I've waited for”

The song went on.

“Eva?” Damian says. I didn’t answer, Alyssa’s emerald eyes were almost glowing.
“Eva?” Damian says my name, stroking my cheek.

“Eva?!” Jacob’s husky voice sounded worried. I was back to the present, the car wasn’t moving
anymore and I was in Jacob’s arms. I noticed I was trembling and crying. The chorus in the song, it
wasn’t meant for Damian and I, I realized now that exactly at that moment Alyssa came to view
and he saw her, it was them who were meant to be together.

“Stupid song.” I muttered angrily, Jacob wasn’t supposed to see me like this. “Are you ok?” Jacob
asks, still worried.
“Bad memory.” I replied, not wanting to into his eyes. “Cause of the song?” He asked.
I nodded. “I’m sorry, you weren’t supposed to ever see me that way.” I apologized.
He didn’t answer, he tightened his hold around me and soon enough the trembling stopped.
“I won’t let anyone hurt the way he did Eva.” He vowed. I didn’t know what to say so I kept quiet.
After a few minutes of silence I whispered. “Let’s go home.”

11. Can’t Stop This Thing We Started

“Eva are you done yet?” Jacob complained from outside the bathroom door. I giggled.
After arriving home our moods changed immediately. We both wanted to take a shower but I got
to the bathroom first.
It was nice under the shower, the running hot water unclenched all my tensed muscles and I felt
relaxed. “Few more minutes!” I called back.

After a while Jacob stopped complaining and I finished showering. I changed into the usual large T-
shirt and jeans.
Jacob was in the living room watching TV. “Finally!” He said, grinning widely. I sat down next to
him. “I couldn’t help it, it was soooo relaxing.” I said grinning back.
“I really like you’re smile.” He said out of nowhere, his chocolate brown eyes piercing mine.

I felt my cheeks burn. “Thanks, I guess.” I said awkwardly. He chuckled. “Now it’s your turn.” He
said, smiling at me mischievously. I laughed. “Hmm you want me to tell you what I like about you?
That’s going to be hard.”
“Because there’s too much?” He asked hopefully.
“Too little.” I teased.
He frowned disapprovingly. “Ok ok.” I gave in. I thought about it quickly. There was honestly too
much I liked about him but I didn’t want to admit that. “You’re not that bad looking.” I said flatly.
His smile widened in delight, I loved nothing more than making him smile.
“That wasn’t too hard now was that?” he asked. I shrugged. He then ruffled my hair. “Alright, my
turn to shower.” He walks off to the bathroom.
I sighed and stared at the TV, instead of paying attention on the movie that was turned on I
thought about Jacob. I thought about how I loved his presence, how his smile made me want to
smile, how easily he can make me happy, how the butterflies were uncontrollable whenever he
touched me and how he can make my heart skip a beat.

It was different with Damian. With Damian I never felt complete like I did with Jacob and Damian
had never been able to make me smile on my worst days.

Could it be that I was in love with Jacob Black? That he was the reason I never felt like I belonged
in New York? Was he the reason I moved here?
It made so much sense.

“Eva?” Jacob said from next to me, I was startled by how close he was, I didn’t even notice him sit
down next to me. His hair was wet and his chocolate brown eyes were full of questions.
“So what do you want to do today?”
I shrugged honestly not knowing what I was up for. “Beach?” He suggested. I smiled. The weather
was still beautiful outside.

On our way to the beach he took my hand and we walked together like a couple in love.

We didn’t say much, we walked silently on the path both in deep thought.
Once we arrived at the beach Jacob asked me about my parents. “Have you heard from your
parents since you arrived?”
I shrugged. “I think my dad and Emily talked once, but my dad didn’t want to talk to me yet. I
think he’s afraid I might force him to take me back there.”
“He doesn’t know that you like it here?”
“Not yet. I’ll talk to him sometime.” I said.
“And your mom?”

I sighed. “She died when I was five.” I told him.

“Oh Eva, I’m sorry.” He replied.
“It was a long time ago, I don’t remember her much.” I admitted.
We were quiet for a while, not knowing what to say.
“So what’s your dad like?” He then asked.
“He’s cool and very easy to live with. He’s funny and smart but protective.” I explained, I realized
then how much I missed my dad, I think I will give him a call sometime soon.
“Do you miss New York?” He asked after another pause.
I thought about the crowded sidewalks, the noisy streets and polluted air. “Not at all.” I said.
“How about your friends?” he asked.
“I don’t miss anything about that place.” I replied flatly. That part of my life is over.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you.” He then apologized.
I looked at him, his chocolate brown eyes piercing mine, making my heart race. “Other than my
Dad, everything that’s in New York ceases to mean anything to me anymore. I started a new life
here.” I told him honestly.

“Alright. I was just curious.”He said looking towards the horizon.

I inched a little closer to him and laid my head on his shoulder. I wanted to be with Jacob, I realized
that now but the only thing that was stopping me was my fear. That the same thing was going to
happen, that maybe if Bella wants him, he’ll leave me for her. I don’t know if I would survive that.
I noticed how Jacob’s breathing became uneven. “Eva?” he then whispered in his husky voice.
I lifted my head to look into his eyes and all of a sudden his lips crashed onto mine. My worries,
my fears and my past disappeared and I threw my arms around him, crushing myself closer to
him, his long arms wrapped around my waist and he deepened the kiss.
Also my breathing became uneven and soon enough I was too wrapped up in the kiss that I almost
forgot to breathe. Slowly I pulled away gasping for air.
He didn’t let go of me though, he pressed his forehead against mine.
“I know this is going to sound completely irrational since I just met you, but I’m in love with you
Eva. I’ve been in love with you since the very moment I saw you.” He said leaning away from me
to look into my eyes.
It was in his eyes and I felt it, he spoke nothing but the truth.
“I love you too Jake.” I whispered.
“Yeah I know it’s too soon and I shouldn’t have kissed you but could it… wait. What?” his eyes
widened in surprise.
I smiled, my heart swelling with care and love for this boy.
“I’m in love with you too Jacob Black, I don’t know how you did it but you helped me out of the
pain I was drowning in, in a matter of a couple of days. You complete me, I’ve never in my whole
life felt so right than when I’m with you.” I said. I knew I sounded so over sentimental but the
words I spoke were the truth and realizing it now made me feel better.
He smiled at me and kissed me softly, sending shivers down my spine.
“So where does that leave us?” He asked letting me go and I leaned my head on his shoulder
again.
“Friends who are in love with each other?” I suggested, jokingly.
“Not a chance.” He almost growled.
I laughed. “Ugh fine. Then I’ll have to be your girlfriend.” I gave in, faking disappointment. He
grinned. “I know you want me.” He teased.
He intertwined his warm fingers with mine and he kissed me once more, my heartbeat didn’t
return to its normal rate yet.
The rest of the day we spent sitting on the beach, talking about non important things. We were
both jumping with joy in the inside; nothing mattered more at that moment. I completely forgot
about everything else, nothing except for Jacob seemed to matter to me at this moment.

When we arrived home we helped each other with the cooking. We decided to make Spaghetti
Carbonara, he did most of the cutting while I did all of the cooking. Every chance he got he would
put his arms around me or kiss me and I loved each time he did.
After we finished eating we both relaxed on my bed. He played with my hair as I laid on his warm
chest, listening to his heartbeat.
I then realized how tired I was. “Eva?” Jacob whispered. “Hmm?” My eyes lids were getting heavier
by the second. “Can I sleep here tonight?”
I mumbled “’Course Jake.” Before falling asleep with his warm body pressed against mine.

12. Do you want to party with me?

I felt warm fingers graze softly against my cheek and my eyes fluttered open. Jacob was gazing
into my eyes with so much sincerity and love, my heart almost leaped out of my chest.
“Morning.” I grumbled. “Morning love.” He said, giving me a quick kiss on my lips. I sat up and
stretched. “What do you want for breakfast?” I asked.
“Anything.” He replied, still laying on the bed.
“Pancakes?” I suggested.
“Sounds great.”
He then stood up and it was only then I realized that he was only wearing boxers. I ripped my eyes
off his well built upper body and stared into his eyes. He smiled impishly.
“What?” he asked almost innocently.
“Do you always sleep half naked?” I asked.
“Yes.” He replied quickly.
I rolled my eyes. “Does it bother you?”
“Not at all.” I replied winking at him. He laughed. “C’mon lets go make some pancakes.” He said
taking hands and pulling me up.
In the kitchen we started preparing our breakfast. It was getting quiet so I decided to have some
fun. “Jake...” I said in a seductive voice, pressing my body against his.
He looked down at me surprised but didn’t pull away. “Since we’re now together and all, I was
wondering when we are gonna…” I sighed, pretending I was too shy to continue the sentence.
“You know…” I continued, looking into his eyes and smiling mischievously.
He gulped nervously. “We can umm… when you’re ready.”
The look on his face was priceless and I burst out laughing. “I can’t… believe… you fell… for that.”
I said through laughs. Instead of getting angry he just grinned. “I’m going to get you for that.” He
playfully growled and I made a run for it. He caught me in the living room and threw me gently on
the couch. There he started tickling me. “No! Jake!” I almost screamed through giggles. “Sto-op!” I
shrieked but he continued.
“Happy Birthday Jacob!” We suddenly hear Quil yell; he came into the room and cleared his throat.
Jacob stopped tickling me at once and just grinned at his friends. Embry, Paul, Jared, Quil and Seth
were all standing there, staring at me in amazement.
“It’s your birthday?” I asked Jacob confused, ignoring the stunned looks the other guys were giving
me. Jacob smiled at me embarrassedly. “Yeah, I’m turning 18 today.” He said. I immediately
hugged him tightly. “Happy Birthday Jake! Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked, giving him a peck on
his lips.
“It wasn’t important.” He muttered, before I could say anything Paul butt in. “Umm did we miss
something?”
I blushed, I totally forgot they were there listening to our short exchange. Jacob grinned smugly.
“Gentlemen I would like to introduce you to the new and improved Eva White.” He joked.
I playfully slapped his head.
“You guys are together?” Embry asked looking at me.
I nodded shyly.

“That’s great!” Jared said enthusiastically.

Jacob let go of you and all of you went to the kitchen to continue eating breakfast. “There’s going
to be a huge party tonight at Old Ben’s Barn tonight. You guys in?” Quil asked eying the both of
us. Jacob looked at me questioningly. “Well I’m in, but I don’t know about Jake over here.” I said.
Jake grinned. “Me too. Is that all you guys are here for?” He asked almost rudely. Paul rolled his
eyes. “Geez Jake we just wanted to greet you a happy birthday man.” Seth said, offended.
“C’mon you guys, you know how it is, first love and all. We’ll see you guys later.” Paul said,
standing up to leave.
“See you guys.” I said.

“That was rude of you.” I stated after the boys left. “Is it wrong to want to spend alone time with
you?” He demanded. “You get to be alone with me this whole week.” I retorted.
“We’ll see them later anyway, right now I just want it to be me and you.” He said taking my hands
and kissing them, sending shivers down my spine.
I smiled.
Suddenly the phone rang. I went to go answer it. “Hello?” I said cheerfully. “Can I speak to Eva
please?” I heard my dad’s voice from the other end of the line. “Dad?” I asked surprised.
“Eva? Is that you? How are you honey?” He asked also surprised.
He sounded as if he got caught off guard. I giggled. “I’m great. How bout you?” I replied.
He didn’t answer right away. “I’m better now honey. I’ve been worrying about you. Emily told me
that you weren’t doing so good but that seemed to have changed. You sound like your old self!”
He exclaimed also sounding cheerful.
“Yeah well it’s this place and I’ve had a little help from a special someone.” I said, Jacob was
watching me intently and I winked at him. He grinned.
“Really? Who?” He asked, surprised again.
“His name is Jacob Black.” I couldn’t believe myself, I just got together with Jake yesterday, not to
mention met him only a few days ago and now I was already telling my dad about him. Jacob
didn’t seem to mind.
“Well from the sound of it, this Jacob Black seems to be treating you right.” My dad replied.
“He is.” I said smiling.
“When am I gonna see you again dad?” I asked.
“I’m not sure yet honey, but I’ll try to visit as soon as I can. I got to go to work now, it was good
hearing from you.” He said, sounding a bit sad.
“It was nice hearing from you too dad. Take care.”
“You too hon. Bye.” He said and hung up.
“Wow you told you’re dad about me.” Jacob said while grinning widely.
I bit my lip. “Was it too soon?” I asked unsurely.
“Not at all.” He said.

The rest of the day we spent in the house, although the weather was nice we just lounged on the
living room couch talking about anything and everything, the more I learned about Jacob the more
proud I was to call him mine.
After dinner, Jacob went quickly home to change into something more suitable for the party we
were going to, while I took a shower.
I stood in front of my dresser not knowing what to wear. It was a party, I had to dress up but I
didn’t know if the party’s here were like the ones in New York.
I decided that since it was Jacob’s birthday I was going to wear a dress. I chose my dark purple
halter party dress with black sandals.
I blow dried my hair and applied a bit of makeup, by the time I was finished the door bell rang.
I opened the door and Jacob mouth dropped once he saw me. I giggled, pleased at his reaction.
“You look…” he was lost for words. “amazing.” He finished.
He was wearing a white beater with a blue checkered flannel shirt and jeans. “You’re not looking
so bad yourself Mr. Black.” I complimented.
Instead of answering he took me in his arms and kissed me passionately. Eagerly I wrapped my
arms around his neck and crushed myself closer to him, once again my heart pounded erratically,
it was almost embarrassing.
He then pulled away, both of us gasping for air. “Happy Birthday.” I said smiling impishly.
He chuckled. “I got what I asked for.”
“Really? And what’s that?” I asked.
“She’s standing right in front of me.” He replied, kissing my forehead. I rolled my eyes. “Let’s go
party.” I said trying to sound enthusiastic, it made Jake laugh.

We drove to the place the party was taken, it was called Old Ben’s Barn. It really looked like a
large barn from the outside, but on the inside it was like a huge disco. There was a long bar, a
dance floor with a disco ball and colorful lights, there was even a DJ booth. The barn was packed
with people I didn’t know.
I suddenly felt uncomfortable.
“Finally you’re here!” Quil boomed, appearing out of the crowd of people, followed by the other
guys. Each of them had one drink in their hand except for Jared who had three. “Here you guys
go.” He said, handing us a glass each.
“Get a little loose, have a little fun.” He said winking at us.
“Will do.” I said winking back and taking a sip of my drink. I noticed the taste, it was vodka red
bull. Jacob then chugged down half of his. “Let’s partaay!” Paul yelled.
And so the night began. It was just a few days ago where I was sulking over the bad memories of
the past, I was a whole different person, as good as dead and now thanks to Jacob I’m back to the
old me.
I danced with Jacob and then I danced with all his friends, we drank and danced the night away.
Most of the time we kept to ourselves but just before midnight Quil who was already drunk went
up to the DJ booth and asked if he could borrow a microphone. “Heyy Everyone listen up!” He
yelled into the mic. Everyone winced, but cheered Quil on. “Today’s my good, good friend’s
turning 18, well in a few minutes it’ll be over. But Jacob, I’d like to wish you a very happy birthday
man! We’re all happy you found Eva.” He congratulated. Jacob just grinned, he didn’t look drunk at
all but I felt slightly tipsy.
“Happy Birthday Jacob!” the crowd yelled and the party continued. We drank and danced even
more.
I didn’t like the song so I sat in the bar, watching the guys kid around on the dance floor. For big
brutes they were actually good at dancing.
“Hey there.” I heard a voice say and my head snapped up to see some guy who was staring at my
chest.
I was too happy and intoxicated to be angry. “Heyy!” I said cheerfully and looked back at Jacob
and the boys. “My name’s Sean. What’s yours?” he continued.
I turned back to him. “I’m umm…” what was my name again? “I’m Eva.” I said finally
remembering and then I giggled. Stupid me.
“You’re really pretty Eva.” He complimented.
“Thank you. Wait a minute…” I said realizing something. “Are you hitting on me?” I asked eyeing
him suspiciously. Man was I smashed.
He moved closer. “What if I am?” he says smugly.
I laughed. “I’m taken.” I said lifting my hand as if I had a ring on it. Then I ended up staring at my
hands. My fingernails were so pretty and soon the whole room started to spin.
“C’mon sweetheart. Let’s go somewhere more private.” He said but before he could even touch
you Jacob was at you’re side, fuming.
“Sean, this is my boyfriend Jacob.” I said giggling. Sean’s expression was hilarious.
“You should watch out though, he’s got a bit of a temper. Don’t you Jacob?” I asked Jacob and
nodding my head, as if to answer my own question.
Jacob started shaking. “You’re standing a little too closer there don’t you think?” Jacob said
through gritted teeth.
Sean eyed Jacob carefully. After noticing his size he backed away palms up. “Definitely not worth
it.” He muttered and walks off. “Bye Sean!” I said waving at him.
Jacob wrapped his long arms around me. “I think we should go home now.” He muttered.
I was feeling pretty dizzy. “I think so too.” I said laying my head on his chest, it was so
comfortable.
I was half unconscious and I felt Jacob lift me up into his arms. He quickly told the guys that we
were going home. Jacob was still sober enough to drive us home.
He laid me down on my soft bed. He didn’t say anything this whole time. “Jake, are you mad at
me?” I asked worriedly, my eyebrows creased.
“Why should I be mad at you?” he asked chuckling. “It’s not your fault you’re beautiful.”
“For getting drunk.” I said ignoring his compliment.
“You were having fun, it didn’t matter.” He said.
“Did you have fun tonight?” I asked.
“Of course I did love.” He replied kissing my forehead. I immediately felt better. “Jake?” I said, my
eyes slowly dropping. “Hm?”
“I really love you, you know.” I stated quietly.
There was silence and I almost fell asleep. “I love you more than you’ll ever know.” I heard him
whisper before I drifted into unconsciousness.

14. Perfect Strangers

I woke up the next morning and groaned. “My head.” Jacob was sitting on the foot of the bed
laughing lightly. “That’s what you get for drinking too much last night.” He stated.
Oh shit. Last night. What did I do? I probably embarrassed myself in front of everyone. “Are you
ok?” He asked worriedly, all teasing gone. “You look a little pale.”
“Umm… Was I acting stupid last night?” I asked embarrassedly.
He smiled. “No love, you were acting your age.”
I sat up and rubbed my temples.
“Here.” Jacob handed me a glass of water. I realized I was very thirsty and drank it all in one go.
“The best cure to a hangover is drink lots of water.” He informed me.
I smiled at my handsome boyfriend, if that was what I can call him, it felt like I connected to him in
much more than that, as if our relationship was deeper than that. I wanted to hold him and kiss
him but then realized I was in the same outfit I wore last night. “I need a shower.” I told him and
slowly got up.
After finishing my morning routines I went down to the kitchen where Jake was sitting on the table.
He made oatmeal for the both of us.
“Yummy.” I said taking a seat.
We finished breakfast and then watched some TV. It was raining outside so we couldn’t go out to
the beach. Jacob was in the shower when I heard a knock on the door. It couldn’t be the guys
because they never knock. I opened to see a beautiful pale white woman with almost crimson
colored eyes. I felt the urge to hiss.
She eyed me carefully. “Hi. Umm Billy told me that I’d find Jake here. Is he around?” She asked.
I saw that a few feet behind her was another Leech, staring at me with an unusual look on his
face, he looked as if he was concentrating. To me he wasn’t beautiful like to probably everyone
else, there was something about his eyes and his skin that instantly disgusted me. His eyes wasn’t
like the woman’s, it wasn’t crimson but almost gold.
“I’m Bella.” She then said and I ripped my glare off of the Leech and looked at his lover.
Jake fell in love with a Leech? I thought fuming.
I clenched my hands into fists, my knuckles pale white. “Yeah. He’s in the shower.” I said through
clenched teeth and walked past her.
I didn’t care if it was raining or if my head was throbbing like crazy I walked towards the beach.
“Bella?” I heard Jacob’s surprised voice. “Hey Jake! I wanted to cong-“ she started but he cut her
off. “Where’s Eva?” he asked almost angrily.
My heart took off. He did care about me.
“Eva!” I knew he spotted me but I kept walking, I was already soaked from head to toe.
“Stop looking at her that way!” Jacob spat.
“No Jacob, it’s not what you think. She’s very interesting.” I heard the velvet voice of the other
Leech.
I felt warm comforting hands grab my upper arm lightly. “Eva…” He whispered.
I turned to face him, his chocolate brown eyes pleading me to not be angry. How could I be angry
at this beautiful creature?
He was shaking, something he did when he was angry. I realized I was shaking too, not from fear
but from anger, just like Jacob. I hate being around Leeches.
Suddenly I was drowning in another memory.

I was walking the streets after midnight. I knew it was after midnight and it was dangerous but
honestly I couldn't care less. I was restless and every time I closed my eyes, all I saw was his face.
I saw a dark figure a few feet away from me and froze, seeing who it was.
"What do you want from me Dawn?" I asked Alyssa's sister straight forwardly.
She eyed me warily and then smiled. "You really have no clue what you are, do you?" She asked. I
blinked at her confused. "What does that have to do with you being here?" I didn't want to be
around her or any other relatives of Alyssa.
"I wanted to see if Alyssa was right about you." She said, her crimson eyes were piercing mine.
Oh right, another supernatural being. I thought acidly. Why did they have to exist and take my
Damian away?
"And she was." she muttered but I heard her. "Right about what?" I asked, not interested at all but
it might be information I needed to know.
Suddenly she snarled, baring her fangs. "You're a vampire?" I asked. Wasn't her sister a witch?
Her snarls abruptly stopped and she looked at me questioningly. "You didn’t know that?" She
asked. "I thought you were a witch, like your sister." I replied, surprised at myself, I wasn't
frightened of her, even know I knew how easily she could take my life away.

I heard a shuffling sound and turned my head to see a boy around the age of 14 hiding behind a
dumpster, watching us intently.
I turned back to Dawn who was smiling evilly. "Oh I'm not at all like my sister Eva. Wanna see how
I nourish myself?" She asked.
My eyes widened in atrocity. "You wouldn't dare." I said.
"What are you going to do about it fairy?" She sneered. She then seemed angry at herself for
saying too much.

For a split second she was gone, then back with the young boy in her arms. He tried to squirm
away but her hold on him was too tight. He looked at me with large frightened eyes.

Before I could say or do anything Dawn sinks her fangs into his neck. I watched frozen with disgust
and horror how she drained the poor boy. After what felt like hours she pulled away from him and
smiled at me, blood dropping down her lips, which she licked off. She then disappeared with the
boys body, laughing.

I felt warm lips press against my forehead but I didn't open my eyes. "She's going to be ok, this
happened before." I heard Jacob's husky voice say, he sounded annoyed. "Maybe we should take
her to a hospital or something. Jake her lips are almost white, look how pale she is!" I heard the
voice of the Leech. Why was she here and why did she sound worried about me?
"I can take care of her." He said curtly.
"Jake, I also came here to talk about..." She started but again he cut her off.
"Can't you see I don't want you around Bella? Go home and take your leech husband with you."
Jake sounded angry.
"I thought we could..." Again he cut her off. "Just leave alright? Live you're life without me, you
don't need me around just like I don't need you."
I heard the door open and felt Jacobs warm body shake even harder. "Leave." he said again.
"C'mon Edward, let's go home." I heard the leech say. After the door closed I opened my eyes.
Jacob was staring down at me worriedly, we were still both drenched from the rain. I smiled weakly
up at him. "Eva, I was so worried. You fell to the ground and you're eyes were still open but I
couldn't snap you out of whatever trance you were in! You scared me half to death!" He explained
worriedly.
"Jake! I'm ok, relax..." I assured him that was all he needed. His lips were suddenly on mine he
kissed me roughly, letting all his frustration and passion out. My fingers locked itself in his hair and
I kissed him back with just as much passion.
Slowly his kisses became softer, he slid his tongue against my bottom lip, sending shivers down
my spine.
After a few minutes of kissing this beautiful boy he pulled away and smiled at me. "There, you're
lips are red again." He said.
I rolled my eyes. "So that was Bella." I stated, getting up from laying on my back to sit beside him.
"I didn't know she was going to come here." He replied, sighing.
A spark of anger lightened in me, remembering what she was. "You didn't tell me you dated a
blood-y model!" I almost said bloodsucker. Jacob wasn't supposed to know about me that way yet,
besides he hasn't told me what he really was either.
"She isn't a model, you're overreacting." He said.
"She's prettier than me." I whispered as jealousy washed through me. Jacob's long warm arms
were around me, pulling me closer to him. "Listen to me Eva, she doesn't mean anything to me
anymore. You're all that matters to me now." He comforted me. I could hear the veraciousness in
his voice.
I sighed. "You're right, I was overreacting. I'm sorry." It was too soon to worry about these things.
Right now all I wanted to concentrate on was my feelings for Jacob. I want to forget about that
world ever existing, at least for now.

15. Love and Happiness

"Hey Em!" I said enthusiastically, giving my Aunt a big hug. She hugged me back, surprised at my
action. "Eva honey, you look great." She replied.

Even though the last few days with Jacob was extremely humorous it was nice to see my Aunt and
Sam again. Bella and her parasite lover didn't show up again to my delight. The guys even came
to visit us once and we played a game of cards. It was hilarious, I've never been happier in my life.
The more time I spent with Jacob the more I forgot about Damian and after this week I almost
completely forgotten about him except at night. He still haunted my dreams.

Emily and Sam arrived early, luckily I was already awake, Jake on the other hand was still snoozing
deeply. I wonder how they would react if they saw us sleeping in the same bed.

"Did you guys have a good time?" I asked them."It was wonderful! We planned the whole
Wedding!" Emily started excitedly.
"We even sent invitations! I already have my dress!"
I smiled at her. "That's great! So when is it going to happen?" I asked curiously.
"April. Em wanted it to be in the spring time." Sam replied.

"Oh, I thought it was going to be much sooner." I was surprised. They both just smiled.
Jacob then entered the kitchen, yawning. "Morning." he mumbled.
Why couldn't he put a shirt on? I wondered to myself. At least he has shorts on. "Looks like Jake's
made himself comfortable here." Sam told Emily.
Emily eyed us suspiciously.
"Jake, where did you sleep during your time here?" She asked slowly.
Jake smugly put his arm around my shoulder and I blushed deeply. "On Eva's bed, where else?" He
said.
I stared up at him in shock. He didn't have to tell them that.
"What?" He asked innocently, seeing my expression.
"Oh and we weren't doing anything indecent." He added to them.
Sam just started laughing, apparently at my reaction. "Eva you're 17, you should know what's
right and wrong now. Besides we're not your parents."
"But I am living under your roof and Emily has just as much parental authority." I stated.
"Did you think sleeping with Jacob in the same bed was a bad thing?" Emily asked.
I shook my head, clearly embarrassed.
Jacob just snickered.

We ate breakfast together, talking about what has happened in the past few days.
Jacob and Sam went afterwards to find the other guys.
Emily bit her lip, wondering whether or not she should ask something. "So... Are you and Jake...
together?" She asked slowly.
Again I blushed. "Yeah..." I said shyly.
She smiled her warm hearted smile. "That's great Eva. He's good for you."
I returned her smile with one of my own. "I know." I replied.
"School's starting next week." She reminded me.
I groaned.
"Not a big fan huh?" She replied grinning.
"No, not really."
"You'll be in Jake's year so probably in some of his classes." She tried making me feel better.
The thought of being in a new school with Jacob and the guys didn't sound so bad.
"Emily!!!" Quil boomed, barging into the kitchen.
His face then fell. "No muffins?"
Emily laughed. "Nice to see you too Quil."
He walked over and gave her a bear hugged. "We missed you. Eva's cooking is nothing compared
to yours!" He teased.
"Hey!" I replied feigning being upset. I knew he was just joking though, when they came over I
made everyone dinner and nobody could get enough of it.
"Careful." Jacob growled also entering the kitchen. He looked into my eyes and smiled sheepishly. I
rolled my eyes, him and his temper issues.
The rest of the guys came in grinning.
"School's starting next week." I reminded them out of spite.
All of their faces fell at the same time. "Thanks Evaline." Jared muttered, after they found out my
real name they couldn't help use it whenever they were annoyed at me.
"Always a pleasure." I grinned at them.
"Sometimes I miss the old Eva." Paul said.
"Yeah, she knew when to be quiet." Jared agreed.
I didn’t say anything and faked being offended.
Jared then ruffled my hair and I huffed.
"You know they're just kidding." Seth said.
"We wouldn't trade you for the world." Jared added.
I laughed. Jake then picked me off of the chair, sat himself down and placed me on his lap.
He rested his chin on my shoulder. "Are you ok?" I asked him quietly.
"No." He replied.
"Why?" I wondered worriedly.
"We have school next week." He groaned loudly.
All the other boys groaned in agreement. I laughed.
"It's not the end of the world." Sam said.
"Easy for you to say, you don’t go to school." Embry said.
We spent most of the morning and early afternoon in the kitchen chatting away.

"It's going to be weird not having you next to me at night." I told Jacob once we were alone in my
room.
"Don't worry, we always have the window." He said grinning.
I stared at him, not comprehending what he was saying.
"I'll be here everything night Eva, if you want me, I'll be here." He explained, stroking my cheek.
A new rush circulated my body, something that made my blood race and me blush. I couldn't
explain it.
He kissed me tenderly and instinctively I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him closer.
His lips then trailed down my jaw line and neck. My heart throbbed rapidly.
He laid me down on the bed and steadied himself on top of me, he rested on his elbows although I
wanted his whole weight crushing on to me.
He moved up to my lips again. I slid my tongue against his lower lip and felt him shudder.
He was suddenly very excited.
I broke the kiss giggling.
He laid down next to me, I could see a light blush on his dark colored skin.

"Aww is Jacob Black embarrassed?" I teased.

He grinned. "Hey that was your fault."
I couldn't stop giggling.
"I didn't do anything." I said through giggles.
He just kissed my forehead. “I love you Eva.” He reminded me.
I smiled at him, drowning in his chocolate brown eyes.
“I love you Jake.” I told him.
After a few minutes of silence I said. “Tell me what school’s like.”
He groaned. “Do you have to keep reminding me about that?”
I frowned. “That bad huh?”
He thought about it for a second. “Actually it’s not that bad. Like an average high school.” He
explained.
I bit my lip. “Is it a big school?” I asked. He didn’t answer right away, he was too busy staring at
my lips. I snapped my fingers.
“Not really, a few hundred students.” He said snapping out of his trance.
“Do you get along with most of those students?”
He chuckled. Apparently I seemed a bit nervous.
“The guys and I usually keep to ourselves, unless they want to go flirt with some pretty girl.” He
answered.
I raised an eyebrow. “Did you go flirt with some pretty girl?” The thought of it made me jealous.
He chuckled. “Never.” He replied.
I could tell he was being honest.
“Are all the students as big as you guys?” I asked suddenly self conscious about my height.
Then I remembered they were werewolves.
“No, but we’re the hottest guys in that school.” He joked conceitedly.
I laughed and rolled my eyes.
He perked up.”I’m gonna go.” He said.
I frowned. “Where?”
“Home. I’ll be back later ok?” He gave me a peck on my cheek. “It will seem less suspicious if I left
earlier.” He added.
“See you later.” I said and watched him leave.
Once he disappeared behind my door I put on my large headphones and listened to music.
The song I’m Feelin’ You by Michelle Branch ft. Santana came on. I used to practice this song on
my guitar before I met Damian.
I decided to dig up my guitar from under my bed. After taking it out of its bag I hesitantly strum a
string. It wasn't tuned at all.
Slowly I tuned my guitar, plucking each string, remembering how inspired I used to be.
I started playing the guitar and it sounded great. Why did I even stop? Only now did I realize how
much I missed it.

I started singing the song.

Sometimes, I imagine the world without you

But most times, I'm just so happy that I ever found you
It's a complicated web, that you weave inside my head
So much pleasure with such pain
Hope we always, always stay the same

I'm feelin' the way you cross my mind

And you save me in the knick of time
I'm ridin' the highs, I'm diggin' the lows
'Cause at least I feel alive
I've never faced so many emotional days
But my life is good
I'm feelin' you
I'm feelin' you

You go, and then I can finally breathe in

'Cause baby I know, in the end you're never leavin'
Well we're rarely ever sane, I drive you crazy and you do the same
But your fire fills my soul
And it warms me up like no one knows

'Cause I'm feelin' the way you cross my mind

And you save me in the knick of time
I'm ridin' the highs, I'm diggin' the lows
'Cause at least I feel alive
I've never faced so many emotional days
But my life is good
I'm feelin' you
I'm feelin' you

Oh I'm feelin' the way that you cross my mind

And the way that you save me in the knick of time
Oh I'm feelin' the way when you walk on by
I feel light, I feel love, I feel butterflies
I feel butterflies

My lips formed a small smile. I loved this, I loved listening to music, to sing and play the guitar.
I stopped because I cut myself out of everything that made me happy when Damian left me.
Looking back at how I was after Damian disappeared made me ashamed of myself. I was really
pathetic.
Someone knocked on my door. “Come in.” I called.
Emily then came in looking at me with large eyes. “What happened?” I asked anxiously. “That was
really you singing earlier?” She asked in awe.
I blushed, I sang a little too loud.
“Yeah…”I replied embarrassedly.
“Eva honey, you have a beautiful voice.” She complimented, sitting on my bed.
“Thanks. Where’s Sam?” I asked, changing the subject.
“Went out. How come I have never heard you play or sing before?” She wouldn’t let me get away
with it.
“It’s been a while since I last played.” I admitted.
“Jack never told me how talented you are.”
I smiled, my dad never knew. I kept it to myself, too embarrassed to let other people know. “He
doesn’t know I play.” I told her.
She frowned. “You’re too obscure sometimes.”
I laughed. “Aren’t we all?” I replied. She eyed me warily, apparently getting my hint about being
obscure. She knew about Jacob and the guys, she was married to Sam.
She looked uncertain though, in her eyes I could see doubt that I knew what really was going on.
