This documentary is about the Sikh way of life
showing the 5K’s and explaining them and what they
are for and they share a story from the gurus time of
what they did to explain what they are saying and
they show how it like to be a Sikh for someone and
how his job is positively affected by his religion and at
the end they show people who do something for the
community to help and they share their opinions.

Potential Audience for Text

The target audience for this documentary would be
17- 50 years old as there are interviews with younger
people which do something for the Sikh community
and to explain each 5K there is a different person,
some young and some are older. It is aimed at both
males and females as there are interviews with both
males and females. The interests of the audience
would be religion and the ethnicity would be Asian.

Key Influences on your Idea - Content and Form

This documentary is kind of what style I want my
documentary to be like. It has influenced my idea
quite a bit as I have a much more clear idea of what
I want to make. This documentary gave me more
ideas on how I could use different types of camera
movements and shots to make my audience stay
more interested in the documentary.
Use of Camera
This documentary uses a range of shots, it
uses close ups for the people who are talking
about the 5K’s and there is a long shot of
people sitting on the floor and there is use of
low angles, high angles, mid shots, zoom out,
panning, tilting and tracking. There is a wide
range of shots and camera angles and
movement.

Use of Sound
You can hear the presenter speaking through
voice over’s and you can hear the girls
singing at the end and in between it cuts
away to the shot of them speaking and then
back to them singing again, they are singing
religious music.

Use of Editing
There is use of graphics for each area like
the first one is Sikh Identity then its selfless
service and there is graphics for the people’s
names and who they are and also there are
graphics to show the 5K’s. There is archive
footage and images so the audience can
visually see what it being talked about.

Content and Conventions

There is not much archive footage in this
documentary but there is use of images and
graphics to show what is being spoken of.
There is a person speaking about the topic
which knows quite a lot which also tells a
story for the time of the gurus. The mode of
address is quite simple and straight forward.
