SAN MARCOS - William Kenneth Kolberg, 84, died Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2004, in Escondido.

Born July 12, 1920, in Ashland, Wis., he lived in San Marcos for 14 years. He retired in 1982 as
a sales manager for an automobile dealership. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of the 729th Engineer Railway Operating Battalion during World War II. He
was awarded the WWII Victor Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal. He enjoyed walking
five miles every day.

Mr. Kolberg is survived by his wife, Doris C. Kolberg of San Marcos; daughters and son-in-law
Dianne and Zalman Peles of Israel, and Helene Kolberg of San Diego; sons William L. Kolberg
of Salt Lake City and Jack Kolberg of Ramona; 10 brothers; five sisters; and numerous nieces
and nephews.

Private family services are planned with interment at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery.
