Michael Read has been theChannel Swimming AssociationChairman since 1993.He was also an alternate memberof the British 1960 Olympic team inthe 800-meter freestyle relay andhas served as a swimmingadministrator in one capacity oranother for almost 50 years.He was a FINA judge, timekeeper,referee and starter between 1969and 1971, and received the IrvingDavids / Captain Roger WheelerMemorial Award in 2009

He was elected as the British LongDistance Swimming Association
“Swimmer of the Year” in 1979 and
1999, an honorary citizen of Dervio(Lake Como) in 1988 and anHonorary Citizen of Nikiti (Greece)in 1993.
