Event Details
Blue Ribbon Ceremony: Sunday, Jan. 30 at 12:30 in Church, corner of Greenfield
and Columbian
The ceremony will include the 8th grade choir, the wind ensemble band plus
testimonials from Sister Mary Paul, the superintendent of Chicago’s Catholic Schools,
our pastor Father Carl.

All school Open House following the Sunday ceremony: All teachers are onsite
and all classrooms are open with students displaying and demonstrating work.
Events include gym games and hospitality in both main school buildings, 1034 and
1030 Linden.

Highlight of the Week: Assemblies


Monday, 1/31: All Day Conflict Resolution Workshop for Jr Hi, 9:45-2:30,
McDonough Hall in the Gleeson building (1101 Columbian)
Staff from the Marquette U. Center for Peacemaking will be working with the 7th & 8th
graders on strategies and skills for non-violent peacemaking. Some exercises will
include active listening, communication skills, collaborative problem solving and
developing Win-Win's and alternatives to violence. The Center for Peacemaking is
dedicated to the study and training in non-violent peacemaking. The staff work in the
Milwaukee Public schools on conflict resolution using Peace circles and also help fund
student initiated projects for peacemaking locally and globally.

Wednesday. 2/2: “OWN IT! Committing to Great Character for K-6th, 9 a.m.,
Gym (1030 Linden) Three situations will be presented to the students who will then fix
each problem by using the three steps of L.A.W. of Great Character: LOOK within,
ACCEPT your part in the situation, WORK to make things right. Character traits used:
Responsibility, Trustworthiness, Fairness, Caring and Respect.

Other fun activities during the week


• Friday: Spirit Day! Honors Breakfast, 7:45 a.m. in McDonough Hall, 6,7,8 AND
Student VS Faculty Volleyball Game, Gym, 2:00 PM
• Buddy Lunches: grade match ups for lunch and competitive activities, 11:45-12:30,
M, T, W & Th in McDonough Hall in the Gleeson building, 1101 Columbian
• Teacher “Kidnap” lunches: teachers are treated to a home-cooked meal in the
Rectory Dining Room, 11:45-12:25, T, W & Th
• Monday: Brain Quest for Grades 4, 5,6, 12:30 in various classrooms
• Thursday and Friday: Crazy Clash Day! PLUS Science Jeopardy for 4th-6th, 10:05-
11:30 in various classrooms
• Monday: 7th/8th Scholastic Bowl, 8:45 a.m.-10 a.m. in McDonough Hall
