II. The benefits of PC Insurance
If all insurance was optional which would you keep? Health? Car? Life? Chances are if you had your way
you would leave it up to God to protect you from danger and keep your money. However, that’s not the
way life works. We all have insurance for the “What ifs” and the “uh ohs”. How many people saved
thousands of dollars, precious time, and lives by having valuable insurance? Insurance should be used to
protect your assets. The thing is, what do you consider an asset?

An asset is anything in your possession that generates money or prevents you from losing money. Your car
is an asset because it helps you get to work to make money. It also transports you to different destinations
of choice. If something happened to that asset you would lose a lot of money and a lot of time. Insurance is
key to have in case of an accident or a breakdown. Homeowners insurance is vital because your home is an
asset. It keeps your butt out of the cold and protects your family from danger. That insurance and a security
system are considered valuable peace of mind items.

But what about your computer? Do you consider that an asset? Does it help you make money or prevent
you from losing it? If you said yes to either question, then consider a PC insurance plan. It is a way to
protect your valuable data from corruption, viruses, and physical damage. By not have it you are telling
your clients that their information does not matter and that they should not trust their assets with you! You
don’t want that to happen so consider these insurance methods to protect you…

1. Data Backup. Saving it to an offsite location or DVD Drive could save you a lot of time when
disaster strikes. Keep it in a fire proof box in case the house gets destroyed.

2. Anti-Virus protection. With all the nasties going through the email make sure you not only invest in
this program but make sure it is running and its up to date at all time.

3. PC Tune up. Like I said earlier, 68% of all pc failures are due to improper maintenance. A monthly
tune up aka Jiffy lube will not only do wonders for you pc but also keep the costly pc repair bill down.

4. Firewall. You don’t want hackers to steal your valuable data, so protect it behind a strong hardware
or software firewall

Most of these services can be performed by me at KCC. Just click on the CLUBS link on the left for more

business, and your family

IV. Tip and Tricks

How to make My Computer Explore instead of Open?

When you double-click on My Computer, it never shows the folders or Explorer bar.
When you right-click on My Computer and Explore, it does. Here's how to make
Explore the default choice.

1. Double-click on My Computer.
2. Go to Tools, Folder Options, then File Types.
3. Find the file type of FOLDER with extension of (NONE).
4. Click Advanced, Explore, then Set Default.

To imagine the possibilities, look at Advanced for the .DOC extension and see how to
create your own.

How to make XP open previously-opened windows when you

log on

Do you want XP to "remember" the folder windows that you had open when you
logged off, and open them up again automatically when you log back on? By default,
XP doesn't do this, but you can change that easily:

1. Right click the Start button and click Explore.

2. On the Tools menu, select Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. Under Advanced Settings, scroll down and check the box labeled "Restore
previous folder windows at logon."

Now XP will reopen any windows you had open when you logged off.

How to Disable Automatic Search for Network Printers and

Folders

XP automatically searches, on a periodic basis, for new printers and folders shared
on the network. This can be handy, but uses some system resources and may not be
necessary. If you want to disable this automatic search features, here's how:

1. Right click the Start button and click Explore.

2. On the Tools menu, select Folder Options.
3. Click the View tab.
4. Under Advanced Settings, scroll down and uncheck the box labeled
"Automatically Search for Network Folders and Printers."

How to Disable the "There are Newly Installed Programs"

Balloon

When you install a new program in XP, the operating system helpfully tells you about
it and highlights the new program(s) on the Start menu. If you don't like this
behavior, there's something you can do about it:

1. Right click the Start button and select Properties.

2. Click the Start Menu tab.
3. Click the Customize button.
4. Click the Advanced tab.
5. Uncheck the box labeled "Highlight newly installed programs."

Note: this option is not available if you use the Classic Start menu.

“Follow The Instructions”

Read: Psalm 119:129-136

The entrance of Your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple. —
Psalm 119:130

Bible In One Year: Isaiah 9-10; Ephesians 3

After a woman sued a fast-food restaurant for being burned by coffee, companies started
changing their manuals and warning labels. Check out these instructions:

• On a frozen dinner: DEFROST BEFORE EATING

• On an iron: CAUTION! DO NOT IRON CLOTHES ON BODY
• On a peanut butter jar: MAY CONTAIN PEANUTS
• On a milk bottlecap: AFTER OPENING, KEEP UPRIGHT

If some people need these obvious guidelines on household items, think about how much
more we need God's direction. Psalm 119 tells of the importance of His instruction
manual—the Bible. On the pages of Scripture we find what God wants us to believe, to
be, and to do.

"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved" (Acts 16:31).

"Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ
forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32).

"Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15).

Ask the Lord to teach you His statutes and to direct your steps according to His Word
(Psalm 119:133,135). Then read it often and follow the instructions. —Anne Cetas

Give us, O Lord, a strong desire

To look within Your Word each day;
Help us to hide it in our heart,
Lest from its truth our feet would stray. —Branon
Scripture is meant to give us protection, correction, and direction.

TabletPC: HP iPAQ, Tablet PC revolutionizing the Doctor's visit and Hospital Care
Posted by: fyiguy on Sunday, September 12, 2004 - 08:28 PM (44 Reads)
HP put out a link in their latest HP Technology at Work Healthcare newsletter to a great article on how
Tablet PCs and Pocket PCs are being used in the realm of healthcare.

At Central Utah Multi-Specialty Clinic in Provo, Utah, 59 physicians in eight locations use the HP iPAQ h4150 and
the Allscripts TouchWorks mEMR software to access patient information right in the exam room. "When doctors
leave the exam room, all of the documentation is done, test orders have been submitted and prescriptions are
filled," says Jamie Steck, IT director. "The same thing happens with tests. We often get results from the imaging
center even before the patient gets home..."

At CapitalCare Medical Group, a primary care practice in Albany, N.Y., William Busino Jr., M.D., says that
recording patient notes on the HP Tablet PC while he's in the exam room is saving his six-physician office $5,000
monthly and reducing by as much as several days the time it takes to receive voice transcriptions. "Previously, if a
patient had a problem and another physician had to cover the call, the most current information might not be
available," he says...

Review: Resco Audio Recorder v3.01

Posted by Scott Logsdon

What Resco Audio Recorder does for you is make recordings in several different audio formats, as
well as several other great features. Audio Recorder essentially extends the functionality of
recording on your Pocket PC. With Audio Recorder you can make recordings in WAV, MP3, RAF,
OGG, or SPX formats (though OGG and SPX are *only* available on xscale devices), all the while
specifying the recording quality and bitrates.

The Good
• Record WAV, MP3, OGG, RAF, or SPX formats with your voice recorder (though OGG and SPX are
*only* available on xscale devices)
• Includes desktop application for converting between the included formats
• Audio Recorder is a Recorder, Player, and Editor - even simple cut and save functionality is
included

The Bad
• Would like to see more stylus-tap functionality included on main screen
• Sure would be nice if Audio Recorder also recorded and converted with WMV formats
