THINK - PAIR - SHARE

like in the future?

Discuss with a different

What do you understand for
learning strategies?

Discuss with a different partner, and

Report to the group.
Learning strategies are what
learners can do consciously.

• Automatically use strategies that reflect their basic

learning style
• With practice and direction they can learn to apply
strategies
• Learn to adapt strategies accordingly to different
learning tasks
What should a learning
strategy include?

Discuss with a partner, and

Report to the group.
Learning strategy instruction
includes:

• Demonstrating when a given strategy might

be useful
• How to use it
• How to evaluate its usefulness
• How to transfer the strategy to other related
tasks and situations
Why is it important to develop
critical thinking skills?

Discuss with your partner,

and Report to the group.
Learning strategy are important
because they:
• Provide ample opportunities for students to use them,
and they should be taught through explicit instruction.
• Give consistent use of scaffolding techniques
throughout the lesson.
• Use a variety of question types, including those that
promote higher order thinking skills – HOTS.

What is the purpose
of Critical Thinking?

The purpose of critical thinking is to achieve,

evaluate view points, and solve problems.

Since all three areas involve the asking of

questions, we can say that critical thinking is the
questioning or inquiry we engage in when we
seek to understand, evaluate, or resolve.

CONCLUSIONS
The 21st Century brings new challenges since we are facing the
era of technology and multitasking; therefore,

• Learning and teaching means developing cognitive

competences; such as, observe, understand, analyze,
evaluate, resolve.

• The teacher’s goal is to consciously teach students those

capacities through meaningful activities, so they can transfer
them to other new situations in real life.

• The new role of the teacher is to help students become

independent learners to be able to be competent in
this new era.
