Submission Check Agreement

A mock class is a 30-minute live meeting including a short demo and a short Q&A session.
• Please see page 2 the mock instructions to prepare for your mock class.
• Please see page 4 the lesson material to demonstrate your mock class.
• Please see page 8 the evaluation criteria to succeed in your mock class.
Mock Instructions

You are required to present a 10-minute mock lesson demonstrating your approaches to
teaching a phonics and reading piece of Reach Higher from National Geographic Learning. This lesson falls into
the level scale of GKB-G1B(CCSS) and the age scale of 4-7.

In your demo, we’re expecting:


• Professionalism and Good Attitude: This can be reflected in your preparation, teaching environment and
demeanor for the lesson.
• Clear and Concise Instructions: Clear, explicit and level-appropriate verbal instructions and prompt visual
aids such as annotation on the screen.
• Effective Verbal and Physical Guidance: Effective guidance to encourage high student talking time with Total
Physical Response integrated.
• Good Classroom Management Skills: Great pacing, logical transition and error correction shows a good
classroom management skill.
• Extension and Questioning Skills: Ability to generate comprehension questions and make connections with
the lesson and the individual.
Mock Instructions

In your demo, you’re encouraged to add:


Supplemental Material: Pictures, videos and props to make it more effective and fun.
Extra Skills or Strategies: Anything that you think would apply such as Repetition, Scaffolding & Modeling...etc.

Gather your teaching materials, procedures and strategies for supporting your target student from the level &
age scale provided. Develop your own comprehension questions and present them throughout the process.
Please strictly follow the steps listed below:

• 1. Share the lesson material with the interviewer using screen-share function on Zoom.
• 2. State your target student (level/age) and elaborate on the procedures you have designed for the lesson.
• 3. Introduce extra skills or supplemental material you have added to the lesson (if any).
• 4. Present the lesson with the interviewer who is going to be your student.
