1. GROUP Say Hello. How are you today? Encourage responses, calling on individual
students if appropriate.
2. GROUP Introduce yourself to any student who does not already know you, and
prompt the students to greet each other.
3. GROUP Say Let’s get started!

WARM UP
Time: 2 minutes

1. GROUP Say These are some silly faces! Do you know what they’re made of?
2. GROUP Prompt the students to name any of the fruits they know. Do NOT teach
the fruit names.
3. GROUP Ask Would you like to eat these faces?
4. GROUP Say Let’s get started learning about some good foods to eat!

LISTEN UP!
Time: 3 minutes

1. GROUP Highlight the photograph and say This boy likes what he’s eating. Yum!
He wants more of it.
2. GROUP Point to something you are wearing in a color that you like and say You
can like things besides food. I like the color [blue].
3. GROUP Ask What color do you like? Allow time for the students to respond.
4. GROUP Circle the word like and prompt the students to repeat the word like
several times.

LISTEN UP!
Time: 2 minutes

1. GROUP Highlight the photograph and say This is chocolate. I like to eat
chocolate, too! Do you like to eat chocolate?
2. GROUP Mime popping a piece of chocolate in your mouth and rolling your eyes in
bliss while you say Mmm! Prompt the students to copy you or to show that they
do not like chocolate.
3. GROUP Circle the word chocolate and prompt the students to repeat the word
chocolate several times.

Time: 2 minutes

1. GROUP Highlight the photograph and say This is oatmeal. I don’t like to eat
oatmeal! Do you like to eat oatmeal?
2. GROUP Mime tasting a spoonful of oatmeal, making a face, and pushing the bowl
away. Prompt the students to copy you or to show that they like oatmeal.
3. GROUP Circle the word oatmeal and prompt the students to repeat the word
oatmeal several times.

TRY IT!
Time: 3 minutes

1. GROUP Say Look at this cute bear. He looks good to eat! What is he made of?
2. SINGLE Say Can you show me the fruit? Have the student circle the word fruit
and draw a line between the word and the banana slices and blueberries in the
photograph.
3. SINGLE Clear the screen and repeat the activity for the remaining words with the
other students. When you ask Can you show me the oatmeal? Pause and then
hold your hands out, palms up in surprise and wonder. Then shake your head and
say There is no oatmeal in this picture. I told you I didn’t like oatmeal!

Time: 1 minute

1. GROUP Ask Do you like bread?


2. SINGLE Prompt one student to circle the correct option and to say Yes, I like
bread.
3. GROUP Ask the other students if they agree or disagree with the first student’s
answer, by giving a thumbs up or thumbs down gesture. Go to the next slide to
confirm.

Time: 5 minutes

1. GROUP Say These brothers and sister like good things to eat!
2. SINGLE Circle the first boy and say This brother likes chocolate! Can you help this
brother find the chocolate?
3. SINGLE Prompt the student to trace a path through the maze from the first boy to
the chocolate cake on the picnic table. Confirm the answer.
4. SINGLE Clear the screen and repeat the activity with the other students and
figures/foods, e.g. The sister likes bread! and This brother likes fruit!
