I’ll Never Be the Same

It’s a Living
I have made a big difference; but, does
making a difference, make a difference?

Work is not about being happy

that would need corporate approval
and Legal can’t legislate “happy”.

I plan the work, then work the plan; but,

there’s not enough hours in the day,
and the persistent clock winds me tight.

Pushing paper is like pushing rope.

And, what’s been done, doesn’t count for much;
only, what I have done today counts.

Old solutions don’t solve new problems.

Mama will always need some new shoes;
but, we can’t change just to be different.

Blindly groping the same elephant;

we make one-for-all policies but
there’s no way to make a trunk a tail.

So, I lead the horses to water;

but, it’s not for me to make them drink;
‘cause, the “want” must be more than the “need”.

Bottom line; I must live life forward,

the past is past, and what’s done is done.
To make history, I break new ground.

The hard-learned lesson: enjoy the gray --

black and white is too many colors,
exception is not the rule -- it rules.

I’ve made a difference by being different;

can it be true, that’s a job well done?
