Final Project options

You have 3 options to choose from the final project.

1. Film Viewing/write-up/Glogger
2. Compare/Contrast Visual
3. Compare/Contrast Written

1. Film Viewing/Write-up/Glogger

For this options you will need to do a number of activities beginning with:
A. Viewing the movie The Boy in the Striped Pajamas.
B. Select one of the themes and answer a total of 10 questions. The themes to
choose from include:
1. Exploring an Innocent Perspective
2. The Essence of Friendship
3. Acts of Humanity
4. Understanding Obedience and Conformity
5. Exploring Prejudice and Discrimination
The questions will need to be answered in sentence format restating the questions using
evidence from text, using page numbers to support you response, as well as interpreting
your response.

2. Compare/Contrast Visual

For this option you will be visually comparing and contrasting Bruno and Shmuel. You are
required to create your visual using a poster board (nothing smaller). Remember the
overall effort/neatness/quality will be graded as well as the visual symbols and written
explanation.
A. Complete the Comparing and Contrasting Bruno & Shmuel worksheet. You will
select adjectives that describe the similarities and difference of each of the boys. 4
of each (compare & contrast) are required (total of 8).
B. You will need to come up with visual symbols that represent the comparisons and
contrasts of the boys. For example: American flag symbolizes Freedom.
C. Using each of the symbols you are required to have a minimum 2 sentence write-
up. The sentence will explain why you chose the symbol you did, using evidence
from the text (including page #'s) that supports the compare/contrast, and then
interpreting your evidence.

3. Compare/Contrast Written

For this option you will write a compare/contrast essay about Bruno & Shmuel. This is
essay must be typed, double spaced and have a complete heading.
A. Complete the Comparing and Contrasting Bruno & Shmuel worksheet. You will
select adjectives that describe the similarities and difference of each of the boys. 3
of each (compare & contrast) are required (total of 6).
B. The overall format will resemble that of an ERR, but obviously longer

4. Extra Credit Option – up to 10 points

A. Create a “Glog” representing one of the themes of the novel.

Visual Option
Visual Representation
This project must be completed on a poster board. Nothing smaller will be accepted. Pictures may be
hand-draw or computer generated.

Pictures must be: a creative representation comparing and contrasting Bruno & Shmuel. You will use
a symbol to represent the compare/contrast therefore you cannot draw a picture of the character each
time.
