All positions begin July 1, 2011 and end June 15, 2012. Each position is work‐study eligible (although work‐study is not
required). The positions are compensated $9.00 an hour and employees work 20 hours a week in office hours,
outreach initiatives or at QRC and Portland community events.
QRC applicants must be in good academic standing and have no outstanding sanctions with The Office of Student

Specific Responsibilities:
Work with the QRC staff to serve as the lead organizer for Welcome Week, Coming Out Week, Pride Week
and Queer Health Fair events, with the goal of supporting, retaining and developing queer‐ identified
students and their allies on campus
Work with the QRC Graduate Assistant and Coordinator to organize trainings for departments and
community organizations who wish to better serve LGBT clients and constituents
Facilitate general interest meetings and coordinate guest speakers and discussions, periodically
incorporate other QRC staff members into facilitation roles
Develop and maintain relationships with queer youth and queer community organizations in Portland; i.e.,
CAP, SMYRC, PFLAG, OSSCC, GLSEN, and the Q‐center
Serve on relevant support and advocacy committees that contribute or are relevant to the QRC.

Job Title: Administrative and Publicity Coordinator
Description:
Work 20 hours a week for 49 weeks
Organize QRC events.
Maintain the QRC’s operation by providing clerical and administrative support.
Oversee organization of the QRC resources, work with the GA to train and retain volunteers, and
coordinate a safe working, social, and organizing space for all self‐identified queer students and their allies
on campus.
Maintain working relationships with other community and student groups.

Specific Responsibilities:
Work with the QRC staff to serve as the lead organizer for the QRC web site, ensuring up‐ to date
information and services. Distribute press releases for major QRC events, create and update pamphlets
and brochures for the center. All media efforts ought to follow the goal of supporting, retaining and
developing queer‐ identified students and their allies on campus
Manage administrative minutiae of the QRC, including maintaining a clean, organized space, ordering
supplies, coordinating front desk staffing coverage and scheduling, overseeing the scheduling of the QRC
and conference room, managing the listserve and dealing with mail.
Ensure maintenance of files, brochures, library, safe‐sex supplies, etc.
Coordinate HIV/STD testing opportunities with the Queer Students of Color Coordinator
Assist staff with the forms for events, gathering and compiling program evaluations and satisfaction
surveys.
Serve on relevant support and advocacy committees that contribute or are relevant to the QRC.
Periodically facilitate QRC general interest meetings

Job Title: Trans and Access Resources Coordinator
Description:
Work 20 hours a week for 49 weeks
Organize QRC events.
Work with the QRC staff to serve as the lead organizer resources and services for students who identify as
transgender, and work to educate campus community members about transgender people, their unique
needs and their contributions.
Through programming and education, enhance the environment in the QRC and on campus for trans‐
identified students and community members.
Help coordinate a safe working, social, and organizing space for all self‐identified queer students and their
allies on campus.
Maintain working relationships with other community and student groups.

Working with the QRC staff, CPSO, WRC, SAGE, SHAC, campus administrative bodies, and Portland
community organization to actualize a safe, welcoming environment on campus for individuals exploring
the gender/ sexuality/identity spectrums.
Periodically facilitate QRC general interest meetings
Act as a resource and referral for all sexualities and genders.
Gather resources, and provide referrals to students, developing an Internet resources guide and working
on outreach to prospective students.
Working with the other staff members, interns and volunteers, serve as the lead organizer for Trans Day
of Remembrance, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Conference, and the Accessibility conference and organize
other programming and provide trainings to members of the campus community as needed.
Help to identify areas in which the university can further explore offering support to trans identified and
gender questioning students.
Work with the Administrative and Publicity coordinator for all media efforts

Position Descriptions
Job Title: Queer Students of Color Resources Coordinator
Description:
Work 20 hours a week for 49 weeks
Organize QRC events.
The QSOC Coordinator works with collaborators to create programs, services and events focused on
LGBTQQIA persons of color. This position encourages representation and support of Queer students of
color of the LGBTQQIA community and the Portland State University campus community as a whole.
Collaborators include SALP, QRC, and other university offices.
The QSOC Coordinator must be committed to the development of an inclusive community at Portland
State. This student is a role models for the PSU Community; they must be active in pursuing self‐
education regarding issues of sexism, racism, heterosexism, classism, ageism, ableism, and religious
intolerance.
The QSOC Coordinator will maintain a 2.0 cumulative Portland State GPA for undergraduate students
or 3.0 cumulative GPA for graduate students. Enroll in and successfully complete 6 undergraduate or 5
graduate credits per term (except summer).

Responsibilities:
Outreach the Portland State University communities of color and queer communities
Collaborate with the Queer Allies Training and Queeries program to research and provide relevant
training modules
Assist with the development, advertising, and convening of QPOC student meetings as needed
Research and recommend best practices concerning advisory and supervision bodies for the QPOC
group
Research a propose an operating budget for QSOC based on best practices, considering regional and
national standards
Work with the QRC Publicity and Admin coordinator to publicize events
Periodically facilitate QRC general interest meetings
Attend weekly staff meetings with the QRC staff
Maintain office hours
Attend weekly supervision meetings with QRC Coordinator
Sit on board of QRC
