The document summarizes a midterm test consisting of three reading passages followed by comprehension questions in a multiple choice format. The test is intended to provide formative feedback on students' understanding of material covered in the first half of the semester. It is a summative assessment to measure students' abilities. The document discusses whether the test procedures are practical and reliable. It notes the test is short at two pages, photocopiable, and can be administered smoothly within the time frame. However, scoring may be time consuming for the teacher given the need to evaluate explanations and grammar. All students receive the same quality test.

Summative test,, in the middle of semester,, to measure the students’ ability—how
far they understand the material during the half of the semester
1. Are the test procedures practical?
There is no administrative detail about the test. The teacher assumed that the students understood what they were going to do with the test since the students were familiar with the methods used in the test, i.e. multiple-choice and answering the questions based on the passage. There are three reading passages about report texts, each followed by a limited number of comprehension questions. Within one and half hour of time frame, it was reasonable that the students could complete the test. Because the test is only two pages long, so the test is photocopyable as well as being able to be administered smoothly. Besides, the quality of the photocopy was good so that the students could read the passages and questions clearly. The cost of the test was free since the test was already budgeted by the school, therefore the students did not have to pay at all. The scoring/evaluation system was not quite feasible in the teacher’s time frame because the test mostly requires the students to give explanation about implicit or explicit information in the reading passages. The scoring aspects of the test include the precise answers based on the passage and the use of grammar in the right way. This makes the teacher to work hard to keep an eye to the content of the answers, whether the students use correct grammar and precise answers according to the related text. The methods for reporting results are determined as well. The teacher will distribute the test results once they have been graded. In the end of the academic year, the scores will be accumulated and put in the student report book
