In what ways does your media product use, develop or

challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

 i used the magazine Mixmag as my main competitor, so the layout I used

was similar, the reason I used it was because the target audience I aimed
my magazine at is similar to Mixmag and therefore would help attract my
audience.
 As you can see my colours are similar to the colours used in mixmag, both
magazines contain a white background with a dominant colour, for title and
subheadings. However the font type I used is different to the font used on
the Mixmag magazine, as mine is more impact font.
How does your media product represent particular
social groups?
 The media product represents the male
target audience, that ages from 17-30. I
chosen my image on the front because it
reflects the clubbing scene. It does this
by having a man hidden behind a mask,
this makes the audience think who he is
and really engages them. I carried this
clubbing scene throughout the
magazine.
What kind of media institution might distribute your media

product and why?

 I think my magazine would work best as a

web type magazine. This is because my
target audience is mainly the younger
generation who use computers a lot, also
this generation doesn't over spend on
magazines. With the use of putting my
magazine on the internet, will give me a
wider audience and hopefully get more
views. Also it would suit a small publishing
company as it is a magazine you could
give out at a gig or in a club.
Who would be the audience for your media product?

 The audience for my

media product, is for
the age group of 17
and above, this is
because that is the
age you start to get
into clubbing, and
enjoy the type of
genre of music my
magazine is selling.
This is the mood-
board I created for
my music magazine.
It is aimed at the
people who will
read my magazine.
from the creation of
this mood board it
gave me great ideas
and the basic outline
of what would be
inside my magazine.
How did you attract/address your
audience?
 The way in which I attracted
the audience my magazine is
aimed at is the colour scheme
I used. As you can see on the
left is my magazine front
cover, the colours mainly used
are purple and blue. My main
target audience is the male
sex, however purple if a
female colour, but there is a
twist around this which makes
the colour more male than
female, and this is the
freedom and power the colour
represents.
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of
constructing this product?

 When I first started AS media, I was really looking forward to learning new
things especially through the program Photoshop. I thought that using this
program would be easy as I have a lot of experience in the program
macromedia fireworks and they both follow the same guidelines. However I
was wrong Photoshop was a complete new thing to me and after a lot of
time and effort I got the hang of it and I am very proud of my finished music
magazine product. Below is my finished media magazine product, ‘Club
fusion’
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have
learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Preliminary task contents page Full product contents page.

As you can see there is not a lot of difference between my preliminary task
And my full product task, I stuck with the same layout which worked really
Well. However from prelim task I learnt a lot. Especially through the use of
mise-en-scene, in my prelim task I did use this rule as I am in the top image in
the reflection taking the photo, however throughout the rest of my magazine
Learnt to use the mise-en-scene rule and it worked really well.
