Research

 Creating wordless to construct our ideas and interpretation of a pop genre and it was a
creative way to present our ideas. The conventions that we thought were the most
important were given a bigger font so that they would stand out; this was all done on the
wordle website.
 We filmed presentations on the new HD flip cameras in order to gain research from others in
the class as well as our own on the forms and conventions of music videos of different music
genres. This helped our groups decide on what genre of music we wanted to use for our
music video.
 Any research that we found on search engines such as Google, we adapted and uploaded
the information to our blogs. This included watching other music videos from the Pop genre
and uploading them to our blogs and then analysing aspects of the video that we liked and
would like to include in our own videos.
 Our media class visited Richmix theatre to gain information on the conventions of music
videos from a presentation given by Pete Fraser. This was useful because we were able to
watch previous successful A2 music videos and see what they included in order to obtain the
best possible grade. So from this we were able change anything that we were unsure of with
our music videos like the storyboard and shot types we were going to use as well as our
narrative.
 We looked at performance videos and narrative videos on YouTube and MTV to see what
one we would prefer to do, and also to research the forms and conventions of these videos,
most of this information was available on websites like Wikipedia, this was then put onto
our blogs under a research label.
 Created a mood board for ideas about the Pop genre

Planning

 We filmed practice shots on the HD flip camera so that we could learn how to use the
cameras and we could edit these shots in iMovie to see whether we wanted them in our
music video or not. This was useful because we were able to decide what shots to use in our
video in a more interactive way as opposed to just drawing them on a storyboard and not
knowing whether they worked with the beat of the music or not.
 We watched other videos from the Pop genre on YouTube so that we could decide whether
we were going to do a performance video, a narrative or include both elements. We then
uploaded our favourite performance video and our favourite narrative video onto our blog.
 Created Prezzis for images of photos for our digipaks as well as Power Point presentations
and collages of photos of our female protagonist.
 Held a photo shoot for our female protagonist in order to decide what photos to use for our
digipaks and magazine adverts. This also helped with the mise-en-scene we were to use in
our video such as the costumes and make up because we could see what ones looked the
most professional for a music video.
 Looked at magazine websites online to see what Pop artists usually wear on photo shoots
and in their music videos.

Evaluation
 We used a HD flip camera to record audience feedback in a camera corner when we showed
our video to our school. This was a useful way to gain audience feedback because we were
able to see what the audience actually thought of the music video and what they would
have changed about it.
 We created bar charts on Microsoft Excel to record our audience feedback in a professional
format in order to see what the audience thought about our music video in a specific way.
 We used print screens from our music video and from other music videos in order to
compare and contrast what we did with other Pop videos to see if it conforms or challenges
the Pop genre. This is an effective way to present this particular answer to the question
because it is a clear layout and easy to interpret.
