City of Dallas Planning Commission

1500 Marilla St.
Dallas, Texas

Dear Chair Alcantar and Honorable Commissioners,

The Old Oak Cliff Conservation voted last week to fully endorse the Stevens Park Estates
Conservation District Ordinance before you. Stevens Park Estates labored extensively
for a considerable amount of time to come up with an ordinance that was agreeable to the
entire neighborhood. With 74% of the residents voting in favor of this ordinance, I
would say they more than achieved that.

We also ask that you respect the resident’s wishes and leave the Second Church of
Christian Science at Plymouth and Colorado in the Conservation District. The church
shares one of the neighborhood’s most prominent corners with two Stevens Park
residents and the Stevens Park Golf Course. The church is the gateway to the area when
entering from the west on Colorado.

Built in 1949 after the church outgrew their space on Tenth St. and was constructed in the
Williamsburg Colonial Revival style by the architectural firm of Williams and Patterson
at a cost of $165,000.00. Many Colonial Revival styled homes dot the neighborhood and
the church was built to complement the neighborhood.

Thank you for your time and your continued support of our Oak Cliff neighborhoods.
