Statement of Purpose of Yashwanth Rao.

I am applying to the Master s degree program in International Fashion

Management at the London college of Fashion in order to more deeply explore the
best practices of fashion marketing and methods used in this field. Having perfo
rmed and worked in the Fashion industry for almost 3 years, I would like to lear
n profoundly the principles and tools to develop, forecast, manage and logistic
applications. In reality, I would like to focus my career on managing and marke
ting my own brand in my country by using the best practices of various internati
onal Brands. I m also interested in learning the best strategies and logistics tha
t are used to quickly and efficiently build and develop a brand.

Through my professional experience, from childhood i have been in th

e process of merchandising and manufacturing for various brands. such as Zara, Q
uiksilver (Australian Division), Lois Jeans etc.. Basically, my work experience
gave me exposure over various international brands since manufacturing and expo
rts was our family business. From my chidhood i have seen that many Internationa
l exporters in India who were expanding in a fast pace Currently their presence
in the industry is much little and they have completely shrunk do to their custo
mised way of approach towards their working culture in this international race,
my interests are in developing an effective mode of protocol's with the help of
software applications that will completely interface all the procedures in the i
ndustry which will lead to effective mode of automation. Furthermore, I have bee
n involved in scoping and planning process that I have used for estimating time
and planning resources for the orders that we receive so that we ship them on ti
me.

I started my professional career with a Large Fabric manufacturing c

ompany called Lakshmi Apparel and Wovens Ltd. where I was handling the product d
evelopment division for about 6 months. Working for this fabric manufacturing co
mpany. I performed several tasks related to fabric weaving. Analysing the weave
structure, calculating the yarn required for development and procurement of the
same, configuration of the weave designs, and administration of the developments
running on the looms. I also started handling the desk loom development which w
e had to send for our customer for their approval. This employment position help
ed me to realize what I really want, which is to be working entirely on fabric m
anufacturing industry. Then, I worked for Celebrity Fashions Pvt ltd., as a fabr
ic sourcing manager for 1 and a half years. In Celebrity Fashions Pvt ltd., I ha
d the opportunity to work with Timberland and Eddie Bauer team and started getti
ng into their fabric concept and thier expectations. After few months of assista
nce I was later handling Timberland fabrics all alone for their development and
bulk proceedings. Working for Celebrity Fashions Pvt ltd. as a Fabric manager, I
started to build both soft and hard skills, helping me to define strengths and
weaknesses in my personal and professional career. Then, at this point of time i
decided to start my own venture into the manufacturing industry and started a g
arment manufacturing unit, which is functioning since 2010 and from this time I
had sewn garments for Zara, Maxx, TDM. Later i decided that continuing this at t
his own pace will make me the same as others experienced in the industry. then i
decided to take up my higher education at your university.

During my undergraduate studies in Textile Engineering (2004-2008) at

Jaya Engineering College, Anna University, Chennai, I took part in several Nati
onal level competetions related to textile technology. During that time, I had p
articipated in various intercollege competetion and won awards. I was also one o
f the committe member for Indian Society for Technical Education's Student Chapt
er under which we had conducted various events and seminars for the benefit of t
he students. My most arduous project in my college was to develop a Textile Comp
osite to screen the Electro Magnetic Waves interference between electrical and e
lectronic components. This project was funded by state government in India, and
was awarded as the best project in India by Sardar Vallabhai Patel Institute of
Textile Management. Later this project was also awarded as the best project in a
n intercollege project exhibtion conducted in our college.

I truly believe my professional background will allow me to contribu

te to any ideas and applications in the fashion management department at the Lon
don college of Fashion. During my previous work I have had the opportunity to le
arn a lot about sourcing, manufacturing and retailing. On the top of that, I hav
e had the opportunity to work on some of the most prestegious brands such as Qui
ksilver, Zara, Timberland, Eddie Bauer. I would love the opportunity to apply an
d practice my technical and personal skills and build on other skills with the k
nowledge I will learn in this master s program.

I am convinced of my ability to succeed in the master s degree program

of International Fashion Management at the London college of Fashion . I have b
een diligent and perseverant during my professional career, and I have a huge ap
titude and an enthusiastic desire to learn all I can. I hope that my background
and qualifications are found suitable to pursue a master s degree in International
Fashion Management at the London college of Fashion
