TOWN OF ESSEXPOLICE RETIREMENT PLAN
Effective as of July 1, 2011
The Town of Essex Employees’ Pension Plan (“Plan”) was originally adopted effective as of July 1, 1969. Effective July 1, 2001, the Town of Essex, Connecticut (the “Employer”)established the Town of Essex Police Retirement Fund to provide retirement benefits to full-time, permanent members of the Town of Essex Police Department. Effective July 1, 2011 thePlan is hereby amended and restated in its entirety to reflect current laws and regulations.The Plan is intended to qualify as a defined benefit pension plan under Code Section 401(a) andis a governmental plan under Code Section 414(d). The Plan is maintained for the exclusivebenefit of eligible employees and their beneficiaries. It is also intended that all ParticipantContributions to the Plan be “picked-up” pursuant to Code Section 414(h).
